2026 4-star ATH and Texas A&M commit rises 259 spots in Rivals 300 rankings
One of Texas A&M's more underrated commits in the 2026 recruiting class, three-star quarterback and future tight end Kaeden Johnson, has reportedly risen 259 spots in Rivals' updated recruiting rankings for the 2026 cycle. When Johnson committed to the Aggies last month, several insiders acknowledged that he would make a significant jump due to his elite versatility. However, even with his drastic rise, Johnson was not included in Rivals' "Biggest Risers" list, which likely had to do with him not being unranked before his stock rose. As a star quarterback at Fort Bend Marshall HS in Missouri City, Texas, Johnson's size, speed, and athleticism make him an intriguing future offensive weapon under OC Collin Klein. Texas A&M has had success with versatile athletes taking on new positions, including junior safety Bryce Anderson, who was also a quarterback in high school. Johnson's QB background, once he makes the transition to tight end, will come in handy as he learns his new role in Klein's scheme. During his 2024 junior season, Johnson passed for 2,109 yards and 25 touchdowns, completing 60% of his passes, while also rushing for 571 yards and six touchdowns. Johnson is now the 174th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle and the 24th-ranked prospect in Texas. Texas A&M 2026 3-star commit recently worked out with two Aggie greats
Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is stacked with elite talent, as all 22 commits bring their own specific skill sets, including one of the lower-ranked prospects in the cycle, three-star athlete/quarterback Kaeden Johnson, who is slated to play tight end with the Aggies in the fall of 2026. Like many of the program's commits, Johnson shut down his recruitment and is all-in with Texas A&M ahead of his senior season with Fort Bend Marshall. This summer, knowing that his future is in College Station, Johnson has reportedly been working out with two Aggie legends to refine his skill set and prepare for his position change. Advertisement In a recent photo on X, Johnson, alongside former Texas A&M standout left tackle and current longtime Atlanta Falcons blindside blocker Jake Matthews, and former Texas A&M tackle Germain Ifedi, who last played for the Cleveland Browns during the 2024 season. Working out at the Apollo Performance & Sports Medicine center in Houston, Texas, the Aggie family is strong, and the connections are limitless, especially for the future players dedicated to sticking with the program and developing, which has become a rarity in the transfer portal age. During his 2024 junior season, Johnson passed for 2,109 yards and 25 touchdowns, completing 60% of his passes, while also rushing for 571 yards and six touchdowns. Johnson has proven that he can play QB at the next level, but Texas A&M tight end coach Christian Ellsworth deserves credit for striking while the iron is hot, knowing that Johnson has been sky rocking locally before his OV. According to Rivals, Johnson is currently ranked as the 34th-best athlete and the 109th-best prospect in Texas. Texas A&M Aggies Add Another 3-Star Recruit With Kaeden Johnson Commit To Amplify Quarterback Competition on Marcel Reed
Texas A&M Aggies Add Another 3-Star Recruit With Kaeden Johnson Commit To Amplify Quarterback Competition on Marcel Reed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has been putting pressure on starting quarterback Marcel Reed. Not only is sophomore Myles O'Neill adding to the competition but the class of 2026 recruits will soon test Reed for his starting spot. Advertisement After seeking out a 3-star quarterback recruit out of Missouri City, Tex. alongside six other schools, the Aggies landed their 15th commit. Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Lysaker/Imagn Images Kaeden Johnson is a 3-star quarterback from Fort Bend Marshall High School who's ranked No. 989 overall, No. 59 overall in his position, and No. 150 out of Texas. Out of the seven schools he received offers from - UTSA, UTEP, Tuskegee, FIU, Colorado, Washington State, and Texas A&M - he only had official visits with the Aggies and Cougars. He visited Washington State on May 29 and had his last official visit with the Aggies on June 12. He also had an unofficial visit, according to 247Sports, when attending the Maroon and White spring game. Since then, the Aggies have highly sought out the 3-star recruit, even creating potential roles for him after his senior year of high school. Though recruited as a quarterback, Johnson could also see some time in the tight end position given the competition that will happen for the under center starter. He joins another quarterback, 4-star Helaman Casuga, from the class of 2026 committed recruits. With the fate of wide receiver Madden Williams and edge Samu Moala as future Aggies being uncertain as they consider flipping their decisions, Elko's recruitment class will need as much help as it can get to stay at the top of recruitment composite rankings. Texas A&M is currently sitting at No. 6 overall with No. 1 USC vying for Williams and Moala. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 15, 2025, where it first appeared.

Texas A&M's 2026 cycle rises in the recruiting ranks after latest commitment
It's no surprise that Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is competing for the No. 1 spot in the rankings by the end of the year, as coach Mike Elko and his staff have hosted 33 elite 2026 prospects over the past two weekends, including 15 this weekend. Led by the return of five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown, the Aggies gained their 15th commitment on Saturday night after landing three-star QB/ATH Kaeden Johnson. Johnson, who will likely play tight end for the Aggies due to his size, speed, and knowledge of route concepts, is one of the rising prospects in the cycle, so locking him down early was one of Elko's priority tasks this month. With Johnson's commitment, Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting cycle has risen to No. 6 in 247Sports recruiting rankings, ten spots ahead of the Texas Longhorns (No. 16). Advertisement With several commitments on the horizon, Lamar Brown is set to announce his choice on July 10, and after his revealing post on X after his official visit to College Station, stating, "Think this one close the book..." the Aggies are in an excellent position to land the standout lineman, which would be one of the biggest recruiting wins in the last couple of offseasons. Here are the Top 10 2026 recruiting rankings according to 247Sports: USC (28 commits) Ohio State (15 commits) Notre Dame (16 commits) Georgia (16 commits) Clemson (18 commits) Texas A&M (15 commits) Penn State (19 commits) Miami (13 commits) LSU (10 commits) Rutgers (23 commits) Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions.
