R10 million from Kaizer Chiefs to sign talented PSL winger?
It seems like Betway Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are not done scanning the market for the best available local talent. Orlando Pirates were the first big gun to show interest in the 23-year-old Rhodes, before Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu began sniffing around this past week. For Kaizer Chiefs, the chase for Rhodes connects with their plans to rebuild for the 2025/26 campaign. After another underwhelming season, the club is seeking young, attack-minded players to reshape their attack. 11 and 15: Orlando Pirates jersey numbers taken by new signings Kaizer Motaung Jr at the DHL Stadium. Orlando Pirates news: Monnapule Saleng and Sipho Mbule 'It's not only Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs who are interested in him. AmaZulu have also enquired about him, and now it will all go down to the right offer for City, and the final decision lies with them,' the insider concluded. Motaung reacts to Kaizer Chiefs pre-season defeat
Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has reflected following the club's first match of their 2025 pre-season. Amakhosi went down 2-1 to Vitesse in the Netherlands on Tuesday. Having arrived in the country last week, Chiefs played their first practice match, where new players were given a run. Motaung Jr said the camp was aimed at getting the best out of their players and taking them out of their comfort zone. 'It's about cross-cultures and about having a pre-season at a higher level than we are used to, which also has to do with having really competitive training matches,' Motaung Jnr told Chiefs' website. 'Training and playing games in Europe is also about getting players out of their comfort zone. It's a different environment; it's about a lot of travelling to the training matches, and it's about preparing the mindset of players for the upcoming season.' The Kaizer Chiefs boss says the pre-season training matches will help players improve. 'We want the players to test themselves against these really strong sides. They will learn from it and will not only become better as individual players, but, maybe even more important, improve as a team. 'That's why we are so happy that the Chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung, and the Board supported us to go overseas for pre-season again. 'Going to Holland is not only something new for the youngsters, but also for several of the older players,' the former Kaizer Chiefs striker added. 'It's about integrating the newly signed players into the squad and bonding as a team. 'The most important aspect, of course, is to get the players fully prepared for the upcoming season, both from a physical and tactical point of view.' Dust off your calculators: How Kaizer Chiefs can qualify for TOP 8
Kaizer Chiefs fans may want to grab their calculators as the Betway Premiership season approaches its conclusion. With two rounds remaining, Amakhosi are at risk of missing out on a top 8 finish once again. This past weekend, the Soweto giants celebrated victory in the Nedbank Cup, defeating their rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the final. While their cup run has been successful, the team has performed averagely during the league season. Failing to secure a spot in the top 8 could result in Nasreddine Nabi being relieved of his duties as head coach. Amakhosi will face Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City in their final two matches. Babina Noko have already qualified for the top 8 and are also in the running to qualify for next season's CAF Confederations Cup. Rise and Shine need a convincing win against Cape Town City to nearly assure their top-eight finish before their last match of the season. For Kaizer Chiefs, their path is straightforward: they must win both of their remaining matches and hope for favourable outcomes. The highest point total they can achieve is 36. However, Magesi FC and SuperSport United could surpass this total if they win all their matches, potentially knocking Amakhosi out of the top eight. Kaizer Chiefs' sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has underscored the importance of finishing in the top 8. 'We need to be [in the top 8],' he told Xoliswa Zondo on 5FM . 'We know our objectives before the season started. We missed out on it last year. 'We are going to give everything that we can to make sure that we feature in every cup possible next season. 'It's two tough games – Polokwane City and Sekhukhune, teams that are actually doing well this season. So, it won't be easy but from our side it's a must. 'We need to be in the top 8 and give everything we can to make sure we do that,' said the Kaizer Chiefs boss. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
