Karnataka records Rs 1.6 lakh crore GST revenue, second highest in country
Bengaluru: The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST)-Bengaluru zone marked the eighth anniversary of the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) with Karnataka celebrating a significant milestone. The state recorded a robust GST revenue of about Rs 1.6 lakh crore in the financial year 2024-25, securing its position as the second-highest GST-contributing state in the country after Maharashtra. Karnataka's rising tax contribution reflects the state's growing economic activity and expanding taxpayer base. With approximately 10.5 lakh registered taxpayers, Karnataka now ranks fifth among Indian states in terms of GST registration — an indicator of both business growth and increasing compliance. Bengaluru zone, led by chief commissioner (Central GST) Kajal Singh, undertook several measures including the fortnight-long GST Pakhwada to improve collections. Help desks were set up to assist traders, resolve issues, and spread awareness. UP natives use forged Telangana documents to land defence jobs: Fake residence proof used to get Aadhaar to avail state quota; gang busted in Adilabad, 3 held

HYDERABAD: A gang providing Aadhaar for Uttar Pradesh natives with fake address and certificates from Telangana to get jobs in the armed forces under the state quota has been busted in Adilabad district. Three persons, all locals, have been arrested. The nine people from UP, who got these jobs by claiming to be residents of Ichoda in Adilabad, will be arrested after due process, police said. The racket came to light during police verification of candidates recruited into the armed forces, including CISF and SSB, the Adilabad police said. Police probe found that the nine were undergoing training in the armed forces at different locations. Cops found that he had approached the gang through his relatives in the neighbouring Bhainsa town. Key documents As he managed to obtain fake residence, SSC memo and other documents and finally Aadhaar, other candidates followed suit. Police said the first candidate's key documents were issued by the tahsildar's office using forged supporting documents. But the documents of other candidates were found to forged by the gang, police said. 'We will be writing to the headquarters of the respective forces and apprehend them at the earliest. We will be interrogating them to find the involvement of other persons,' an official further said.

Three arrested for supplying fake certificates to secure CAPFs jobs
The Adilabad district police have arrested three persons from Islampur village in Ichoda mandal on charges of supplying fake Aadhaar and residence certificates to nine persons from North India for securing jobs in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) under the State quota. Disclosing this at a press conference in Ichoda on Sunday, Utnoor Assistant Superintendent of Police Kajal Singh said the fake certificate scam came to the fore during the process of police verification of certificates. An in-depth investigation into the case revealed that three people of Islampur provided fake Aadhaar, SSC marks memos and residence certificates to nine persons from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan for ₹ 9 lakhs. The three accused, identified as Shaik Kaleem, 34, Shaik Fareed, 59, and Jadhav Gajanand, 35, from Islampur of Adilabad district were arrested by the Ichoda police on Saturday and produced before the local court. The nine accused from other States used the fake certificates to get jobs in the CAPFs under the Telangana quota, she said. A case has been registered under Sections 318 (4), 335, 338, 340 (2), 308 (2) and 238 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.

Adilabad: Police arrested a person for creating a fake instagram IDUtnoor ASP Kajal Singh stated that upon the complaint of the victim from Gudihathnoor Mandal, police arrested a person who had created a fake ID on Instagram on her sister's name and was being defamed by their relatives and friends, the Adilabad SHE Team apprehended the culprit, Turath Gopal, son of a resident of Tirupati Lingapur village, and arrested him. The accused had created a fake Instagram ID in the woman's name and defamed her. Based on the complaint, the SHE team reached out to the victim, and the accused was immediately identified with technical evidence and arrested, leading to a case being registered at Gudihatnoor police station. A case has been registered at Gudihathnoor police station with crime number 88/25 under sections 78 BNS and 66-D IT Act. ASP mentioned that if women are harassed on social media or in public places, they should contact the Adilabad SHE Team.
