Gramin mitras provide over 1L services at doorstep in 2024
Panaji:
In 2024, citizen service centres received over 1.15 lakh service requests from citizens through the Gramin Mitra service. This year, in the first six months, more than 25,000 transactions were already completed, reflecting a growing demand for doorstep governance, said the department of information technology,eElectronics and communications (ITEC).
Department officials said that by providing doorstep services, delays, repeated visits, and missed workdays for residents of rural Goa were reduced.
The Gramin Mitra service is supported by a dedicated call centre (14471), available seven days a week from 8am to 8pm. Citizens can initiate requests for govt services. The service benefits senior citizens, women, and students who want copies of govt documents or access to govt schemes.
The department has focused on remote parts of the state and rural areas.
Whether it's obtaining residence, economically weaker section, or caste certificates, or applying for the Kala Samman Scheme for senior artists, services that once required multiple trips to panchayats and govt offices can now be accessed from the comfort of home.
'I am unable to walk, so visiting govt offices was not possible for me. Thanks to Gramin Mitra, the team came home and helped me get my life certificate. The experience was good, and I felt supported,' Sheetal Malik, an elderly resident from Sanquelim, said.
