Michigan State basketball's Jesse McCulloch seen at Moneyball Pro-Am in a walking boot
Michigan State basketball has not had a great start to the summer in terms of health. A week after incoming transfer wing Kaleb Glenn's devastating injury that will sideline him through this upcoming season, promising redshirt freshman big man Jesse McCulloch seems to also be dealing with an injury. On Tuesday night, McCulloch was seen at the annual Moneyball Pro-Am wearing a walking boot. When fans saw McCulloch with the boot on at Moneyball, rumors immediately started swirling as fans feared the worst, but Detroit Free Press journalist Chris Solari reported that he has been told that it is a 'minor issue' and that he will still be working out with the team this summer. McCulloch is rumored to be a big part of the team next season as, presumably, the team's backup center, and if the murmurs about his development are true, he could even be competing for a starting spot by the end of the year. Top Michigan State basketball transfer suffers season-ending knee injury
The post Top Michigan State basketball transfer suffers season-ending knee injury appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Michigan State basketball team received some bad news on Wednesday as top transfer Kaleb Glenn is going to miss the entire 2025-26 season. Glenn was a big addition to this Spartans squad, but a torn patellar tendon is going to keep him on the sidelines next season. Glenn started his college basketball career in 2023 at Louisville, and then he transferred to FAU for the 2024-25 season. He was back in the college basketball transfer portal this offseason, and he landed with Tom Izzo and Michigan State. Advertisement 'Michigan State forward Kaleb Glenn has suffered a torn patellar tendon and will miss the entire season, he told @On3sports,' Joe Tipton said in a post. 'The plan is for the transfer from Florida Atlantic to redshirt this upcoming season. Averaged 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game at FAU.' This is obviously a major disappointment for the Michigan State basketball team as Kalen Glenn was expected to have a big role next season. Tom Izzo doesn't like to take a ton of players from the transfer portal, but Glenn is one that he saw a lot of potential in. Unfortunately, he will have to wait another year before he makes his debut with the Spartans. Glenn is a four-star transfer portal prospect, according to 247Sports. He is the #81 transfer portal player and the #15 small forward. Glenn got a lot of attention from top teams in the country, and Michigan State did enough to secure a commitment. 'Kaleb Glenn is a 6-foot-7 off-ball wing who shot 40% from downtown on 3.3 attempts per game,' Glenn's transfer scouting report reads. 'Down the stretch, he looked like the best player on a deep Florida Atlantic club. He's an awesome offensive rebounder for a wing, and Glenn is a heady cutter who keeps defenses honest. Glenn is a serviceable defender who should be a rock-solid 3-and-D guy for Tom Izzo at Michigan State.' Advertisement Glenn got a decent amount of playing time as a freshman at Louisville as he appeared in 32 games and started in 11. He averaged 14.9 minutes per game, 3.9 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game, and then he decided that it was in his best interest to hit the transfer portal. Last season at FAU was a strong one for Glenn. He appeared in 34 games, typically coming off the bench. He ended the year averaging 12.6 PPG and 4.8 RPG. His 41% mark from three is one of his most attractive statistics. Tom Izzo and the Michigan State basketball team are getting a good one, but it is unfortunately going to happen later than expected. Hopefully Kalen Glenn can make a speedy recovery and come back strong in 2026. Michigan State's Kaleb Glenn out for 2025-26 season
June 20 - Michigan State forward Kaleb Glenn will miss the 2025-26 season after tearing his patellar tendon. Glenn, Michigan State's top-rated incoming transfer, reportedly suffered the injury during a non-contact shooting drill. The Florida Atlantic transfer was scheduled to have surgery on his right knee on Thursday. The 6-foot-7 Glenn averaged 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds with a 53.1 field goal percentage for FAU last season as the team's leading scorer. One of three incoming transfers to the Spartans' 2025-26 team, Glenn ranked as the No. 15 small forward and the No. 81 overall player in the transfer portal. The Louisville, Ky. native was also a second-team All-American Athletic Conference honoree. Glenn transferred to Michigan State in April and will now have to redshirt for the upcoming season. He has two more years of eligibility. "I feel terrible for Kaleb and for his family, but we will be with them throughout this process," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said in a statement. "It's awful that this happened just a couple of weeks after he got here in East Lansing and was working out with the guys and getting to know them. "In just a short time with us since he committed, we have really enjoyed having him and his family as part of our program. We're going to do everything that we can to support him and get him back on the floor." --Field Level Media

Way-too-early predictions for Michigan State basketball in 2025-26
Way-too-early predictions for Michigan State basketball in 2025-26 We made our guesses for how the 2025-26 Michigan State basketball season will go. The 2024-25 Michigan State basketball season felt like a return to form for Tom Izzo and his Spartans. After a five-year period that included many anxiety-inducing Selections Sundays hoping the Spartans would make the cut for the NCAA Tournament, MSU dominated the Big Ten this year, cruising to a Big Ten title and a 2-seed in the tournament, where they were just six points away from a Final Four berth. The year has restored a lot of the faith and excitement around the team. While there will be some new faces in the building next year, the expectations have definitely shifted back to normal for MSU. Instead of just hoping the Spartans can eek their way into the Tournament, there will be hope for another strong push next year. Below, our staff took a stab at making some predictions, including team MVP, sixth man, season outlook, and more. Team MVP Cory Linsner: Jeremy Fears Jr. Robert Bondy: Jeremy Fears Jr. Andrew Brewster: Coen Carr Analysis: This is going to be Jeremy Fears Jr.'s team next year. Tom Izzo could have broke the bank and brought in an elite-level transfer to be the alpha on offense. Instead, he added pieces that will complement Fears and his strengths. I think this is the chalk pick for Team MVP, but I still opted to vote for Coen Carr here, but he will need to expand his scoring acumen to earn that title. Defensive Player of the Year CL: Trey Fort RB: Coen Carr AB: Coen Carr Analysis: Coen Carr wins the majority of the votes here, which isn't a surprise considering how far his defense took a leap. Cory went with Trey Fort, which would be very welcome as the Spartans will need to replace both Jaden Akins and Tre Holloman's wing defense. Sixth Man CL: Kaleb Glenn RB: Kaleb Glenn AB: Kaleb Glenn Analysis: It seems were are all very high on Kaleb Glenn off the bench, which isn't a surprise as he's a very exciting player whose flaws will be less apparent in the bench role. One note, I might have voted for Kohler here if he was slated to start the year off the bench. However, I'm expecting him to start most games, at least at the start of the year, so... Best Addition CL: Kaleb Glenn RB: Kaleb Glenn AB: Trey Fort Analysis: We were all high on the transfers they brought in this year, but I was tempted to put Cam Ward in here, but it's still unclear how many minutes he will be able to get in a crowded position. Rotation RB Starters: Jeremy Fears Jr. Trey Fort Coen Carr Jaxon Kohler Carson Cooper Bench: Kaleb Glenn Jesse McCulloch Kur Teng Cam Ward CL Start of the year: Starters: Jeremy Fears Jr. Trey Fort Coen Carr Jaxon Kohler Carson Cooper Bench: Kaleb Glenn Jesse McCulloch Kur Teng Cam Ward End of the year: Starters: Jeremy Fears Jr. Trey Fort Coen Carr Cam Ward Jesse McCulloch Bench: Kaleb Glenn Carson Cooper Kur Teng Jaxon Kohler AB Starters: Jeremy Fears Jr. Trey Fort Coen Carr Jaxon Kohler Carson Cooper Bench: Transfer PG Kaleb Glenn Jesse McCulloch Kur Teng Cam Ward Analysis: Cory had the spiciest rotation, as he actually broke his down between the start of the year and the end of the year, with a prediction that Cam Ward and Jesse McCulloch will overtake Jaxon Kohler and Carson Cooper for starter minutes in the back half of the season. There have been rumors for a while that McCulloch has been impressive in practices, and Cam Ward is coming into East Lansing with a lot of hype, so that wouldn't be a huge shock. For more on the potential rotation, I published a piece diving into more detail last week, which you can find here. Season Record/March Madness outcome CL: 22-14, Round 32 RB: 26-12, Sweet 16 AB: 28-10, Elite 8 Analysis: We are all varying degrees of positive about the outlook for next year, while still having the expectation that this probably isn't the year the Spartans really make a run at a national title. I think the consensus is that next year will probably be a slight rebuild as the team re-orients itself around Jeremy Fears Jr. and focuses on the development of incoming freshmen Cam Ward and Jordan Scott. I was the most optimistic about their chances, predicting a similar outlook for next year that we saw this year, because I do expect the defense to still be elite and I think the Spartans made some savvy additions in the portal this offseason to improve their shooting.
