Kavitha demands Telangana CM's resignation over Banakacherla project
Telangana Jagruti President and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanded the resignation of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accusing him and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy of 'deliberately handing over Telangana's rights on Godavari waters to Andhra Pradesh.' Speaking to the reporters in Hyderabad on Thursday (July 17, 2025), she alleged that the Chief Minister is deliberately misleading the people of Telangana by claiming that Banakacherla was not discussed during the meeting between the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh held in Delhi. 'Banakacherla was the first item on the agenda. This is nothing but an insult to Telangana,' she said. Ms. Kavitha reminded Mr. Revanth Reddy's open admission on his political schooling being the BJP, TDP as his college, and Congress as his job. 'Mr. Reddy is still stuck in his college days and gifting Telangana's precious resources to Chandrababu Naidu.' She announced that Telangana Jagruti would wage a legal battle to stop the Banakacherla project and called upon Mr. Revanth Reddy to lead an all-party delegation to Delhi during the upcoming Parliament sessions to demand justice for Telangana on both the BC Reservation Bill and the Banakacherla issue. 'If he doesn't act, Jagruti will go to Delhi and fight on behalf of Telangana,' she warned.

BRS leaders, rank and file likely to skip Kavitha's ‘Rail Roko'
Hyderabad: The BRS leaders are likely to stay away from the 'Rail Roko' call given by the party's MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanding providing 42 per cent reservations to the BCs in the local body elections, which is supposed to be held on July 17. The BRS leaders have been staying away from the programs of the party and this was evident during the dharna call given by the Telangana Jagruthi president protesting against notices being served to party president K Chandrashekar Rao. There were neither BRS flags nor leaders of the party in the protest program which was held on June 3. Only the Telangana Jagruti leaders were present in the protest program. Now, the big date is approaching for the big call given by the party's MLC. It is less than a week for the scheduled program of 'Rail Roko' and there is no clue whether the party leaders would be part of the program. When asked, senior leaders were tight lipped and said that a decision was not taken in this regard. However, a senior leader of the party said that the party may not participate in the Rail Roko program. It is a call given by one MLC of the party and not by the party leadership. If this was a call by the leadership, all the party leaders would have actively participated but they may not attend unless there are specific directions from the top leadership. Demanding the Central government to approve the bills passed by Telangana Assembly for providing 42 per cent reservations to Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies, education and employment, Kavitha has given the call for Rail Roko. She has met several leaders including BJP R Krishnaiah seeking their support to the Rail Roko. 'This Rail Roko will not just be a protest, but a declaration of Telangana BCs' strength to the rulers in Delhi. We will take All BC organizations and leaders together in this protest', MLC Kavitha said, calling upon the people to postpone their travel in Telangana. The BRS MLC had criticized the Congress-led state government, alleging it was conspiring to conduct local body elections without implementing the proposed 42 per cent reservations for BCs. 'We will not allow elections without these reservations. The Congress government has merely sent the bills to the Centre and washed its hands off the responsibility,' she said.

Kavitha claims minors employed in factory; seeks govt probe
Hyderabad: Expressing doubts over minors working in the Sigachi factory and that this was the reason why the management was not disclosing the number of workers working in the factory, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday demanded the government to order an inquiry. Kavitha made these comments after visiting the victims who were injured in the Sigachi factory blast and were undergoing treatment at Dhruv Hospital at Patancheru. Kavitha said it is not even revealed how many workers were working in the factory at the time of the accident. It seems that there were minors among the workers working in the factory, said Kavitha, and demanded the government to reveal the truth. Kavitha alleged that this accident happened due to government negligence. The accident in the Sigachi industry was unfortunate. The government should take initiative on safety in industries. A compensation of Rs 1 crore should be given to the families of the deceased. The government should release funds through the green channel to the hospitals treating the victims, she said.

Kavitha holds talks with Union Minister Athawale over 42% BC quota
Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has appealed to Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale to take the initiative to ensure that the bills passed by the Telangana Assembly and sent for the President's approval to provide 42 per cent reservation to BCs in Telangana are approved. The Union Minister Athawale, who arrived in Hyderabad on Friday, met MLC Kavitha. On this occasion, they discussed the BC movement being carried out by Telangana Jagruthi and the issue of providing 42 per cent reservation to BCs. At the same time, a petition was submitted to the President to take the initiative to approve the BC bills. Kavitha stated that the role of the masses in the development of civilization in the construction of society for generations is very crucial, and at the same time, the lack of representation of those communities in local bodies on the basis of their population is a matter of concern. She explained that OBCs have been agitating for equal opportunities across the country, especially in Telangana, for a long time, and that Telangana Jagruthi strongly believes that the demand for 42 per cent reservation in education, jobs, and local bodies for BCs in Telangana is fair, and in this regard, movements and round table meetings have been organized democratically across the state under the auspices of Telangana Jagruthi. She reminded that the Telangana state government introduced and passed two separate bills in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council and sent them for the President's approval. MLC Kavitha brought to the attention of the Union Minister that even though a long time has passed since the bills were sent for the President's approval, they have not yet received the seal of approval. 'We appeal to you to take the initiative to give the President's approval to the bills providing 42 per cent reservation to BCs in Telangana,' said Kavitha.
