Pix courtesy of police PASIR MAS: A man wanted in connection with the 2022 murder of a pregnant woman was arrested here last night, after reportedly evading capture for nearly three years by fleeing to a neighbouring country. Pasir Mas district police chief Assistant Commissioner Kama Azural Mohamed said the 24-year-old suspect had been residing across the border with his wife, a Thai national. "The suspect was travelling in a vehicle with another man when they were stopped at a roadblock mounted by General Operations Force (GOF) personnel in Jeram Perdah. "Officers found the pair behaving suspiciously and ordered the driver to pull over for inspection. During the check, the suspect failed to produce any identification documents," he said. Further checks revealed that the man was on the police wanted list for a murder case. Both the suspect and his 24-year-old companion also tested positive for drugs. According to sources, the suspect, originally from Lubok Jong, had previously worked for the victim. "The victim was a rice trader who frequently sourced supplies from Thai vendors at the popular Mundok market. The suspect was tasked with transporting the rice and often crossed the Golok River by sampan," the source said. It was reported earlier that a man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a seven-month pregnant woman in Kampung Repek in 2022 had been arrested after three years on the run. The suspect was detained around 7pm yesterday by a GOF team from the 7th Battalion. In 2022, Farrah Emirah Mazlan, 26, who was seven months pregnant, was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a car parked by the roadside in Kampung Repek. She was discovered in her Nissan Cetiro at about 4pm. Police subsequently launched a manhunt for the suspect to assist in their investigation.
