Miha Frlic Delivers Statement Knockout Over Kamali in Heavyweight Battle at BRAVE CF 96

Slovenian powerhouse Miha Frlic (5-0-1) gave his home fans everything they came for at BRAVE CF 96, delivering a spectacular third-round knockout victory over Shah Kamali (4-1-0) in a hard-hitting heavyweight showdown at Ljubljana's Hala Tivoli. From the opening seconds of the bout, Frlic came out with purpose and aggression, using his superior wrestling to impose his will on Kamali. Pressuring early and often, landing brutal ground-and-pound and opening a cut that left the Bangladeshi fighter bloodied and struggling to find his rhythm. The local crowd surged with energy, nearly witnessing a finish before the end of Round 1 But just as the narrative seemed written, Kamali turned the page in Round 2 with a heavy right hand that briefly rocked Frlic. For a moment, the arena held its breath. Then came the response—a swift takedown, clinch control, and yet more punishing offense from the Slovenian. Even as Kamali rallied to end the round on top, Frlic had already set the tone. Then came Round 3. Frlic, feeding off the crowd's energy, launched into a final sequence that would seal his legacy in Slovenian MMA. A perfectly timed flurry landed flush, sending Kamali crashing to the canvas as the arena erupted in celebration. It was not just a win—it was a moment. With the victory, Miha Frlic remains undefeated and takes a major step forward in the BRAVE CF heavyweight division. But more than that, he gave Slovenia something special: a knockout to remember, a flag planted proudly in the center of the BRAVE CF cage, and a reminder that the next great heavyweight might just be coming out of Ljubljana.

Norma Kamali Resort 2026 Collection

Movies are a formative part of the American psyche. Historically, their influence has perhaps been strongest when times are rough; there are innumerable stories of people who found escapism and/or a reason to keep pushing forward for the price of a nickel or a dime at a theater. The fourth edition of Vogue World will take on Hollywood, in October; Norma Kamali arrived there early with her richly-hued, playful, even slightly decadent resort collection. Kamali asked a rhetorical question on our walk-through: 'What's the point where American fashion came into its own? To me, it's really the classic films of the '20s, '30s, '40s, '50s. I was thinking about how these films really are not celebrated as our fashion history. There was Vogue, there were fashion magazines, but they were very elitist. My mother and her contemporaries would go to the films to see hairstyles and styles to wear—that's how they would learn about fashion, makeup, everything. And so I was thinking, I don't want to do vintage retro, but the spirit of classic American fashion is alive and well on every red carpet; the spirit of it has never gone away, it's part of who we are.' Kamali inherited a film fascination that goes all the way back to the black-and-white era, from her mother. This collection has a section devoted to both of these hues. The designer tells a sort of winter wonderland story with the whites, pairing faux fur with sequins that have the diamond glitter of fresh fallen snow, and there's a whiff of Mae West-voluptuousness to a series of intricately patterned sequins on mesh. This group includes slender column dresses and what looks like lingerie briefs and panties, but which are in fact swimsuits. Why not bring a little bit of Hollywood glamour to the pool? Film noir meets punk in jersey pieces with patterns traced by hundreds of hand-applied silver safety pins. The majority of the collection, however, borrows its palette of deep emerald green and garnet-red from a jewelry box. As Kamali put it: 'We can appreciate black-and-white in moments, but we see so much more. And now with everything else [like AI] we're going to see even deeper.' In this designer's hands a Jean Harlow-style bias-cut gown becomes a technicolor dream. Graphic color-blocked second-skin activewear pieces added a Bladerunner / Kill Bill aspect to the offering, but the stars of the show are the long dresses, especially Kamali's take on the all-over sequin 'mermaid dresses' that were once favored by Lauren Bacall and Marilyn Monroe. Bias-cut columns with slit-open bat-wing sleeves also deliver Hollywood glamour (along with a riotous red Marcel-waved wig). 'This is my tribute to classic films,' Kamali said, 'the attitude of this elegance that's classic and timeless.'

How We Used Points to Cover a Kid-Friendly Family Vacation in Eastern Europe

Rachel Lipson has explored Europe plenty of times—both as a musician when she was younger, and with her family over the years. But her recent spring break trip was about something entirely different: Introducing her two kids to places that were new to everyone. After years of revisiting familiar spots with her husband, Kamali, and their sons, Max (11) and Henry (9), Rachel craved an adventure where they could all experience discovery together. The solution? A two-week journey exploring the historic cities of Budapest, Vienna, and Prague—also known as Europe's golden triangle. From their home in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Rachel—who runs the popular substack Brooklyn Family Travelers—meticulously planned an itinerary that combined smart budgeting with luxurious touches, primarily through savvy use of credit card points and miles. The family aimed to dive deep into Eastern Europe's rich history and vibrant culture, and Rachel's strategy ensured they traveled comfortably without blowing their budget. "Eastern Europe was high on my list," Rachel explains. "I loved the idea of hopping between these iconic cities by train, making the most of each place without feeling rushed." Here, Rachel shares exactly how she made this memorable trip happen, leveraging points and miles to maximize their travel budget—and how other families can follow her lead. The family dove deep into World War II history at landmarks like the Flak Towers—former anti-aircraft artillery stations. Getty Images Finding the right pace and place For Rachel, picking this particular itinerary started with the school calendar. 'The moment the dates came out, I began mapping out possibilities,' she explains. While Rachel had spent time across Western Europe, cities like Budapest, Vienna, and Prague felt like uncharted territory, offering a compelling mix of old-world charm, history and family-friendly activities. She intentionally structured the trip to give each city its due. Budapest earned four nights, Vienna five, and Prague three—just enough time to explore at a comfortable pace without overwhelming the kids. "With young boys, we wanted to balance sightseeing and downtime," Rachel says. "Having multiple nights in each city lets us settle in, experience local life, and not feel pressured to rush through all the sights." Convenience played a role, too. "We loved that the train rides between cities weren't too long," Rachel says. "They became a fun part of the adventure instead of just transit days." This thoughtful pacing—paired with Rachel's careful points planning—meant every family member could enjoy the journey as much as the destinations themselves. The Parisi Udvar Hotel in Budapest is set within a 19th-century shopping arcade—and cost the family just 20,000 points per night. Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest Their best points redemptions Rachel's careful planning paid off with several standout redemptions that elevated their family trip from comfortable to extraordinary. Initially, she booked economy flights to Budapest via Air France with points transferred from a credit card. But a last-minute search uncovered something much better: "Just days before departure, I found business class flights on Austrian Airlines," she says. "It was only 252,000 points total for all four of us, and those tickets would've cost around $27,000 in cash." They happily paid a $70 per-person cancellation fee to redeposit their original points, and upgraded their travel experience dramatically.

Norma Kamali, the fashion icon you've never heard of

I decide, on point of principle, to make it my first question to Norma Kamali, the fashion designer who also has a side gig as the queen of positive ageing. How old is she? 'Seventy-nine,' she shoots back, grinning. 'I will be 80 on June 27.' Never, in all my years of interviewing both men and women, has anyone over the age of 30 answered that question so readily. 'I obviously have no problem talking about my age,' Kamali continues. 'I just don't relate to it. I don't think anybody does.' Pause. 'Eighty is somebody else.' Clad head to toe in black leather, she is sitting on a white leather sofa in her immense suite in a swanky London hotel, the kind that comes with

Mass. nonprofit covers cost of emergency c-section for struggling dog

BOSTON (WPRI) — The Angell Animal Medical Center celebrated a major milestone earlier this year. The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) announced Tuesday that the Angell Animal Medical Center has saved more than 1,000 dogs thanks to KodiakCare, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to pet owners struggling with high veterinary costs. The 1,000th dog saved by Angell Animal Medical Center was a 7-year-old mixed-breed named Kamali, who needed emergency care while giving birth to five puppies back in February. Angella Pucillo-Driscoll, Kamali's owner, had originally planned for her to give birth at their New Hampshire home. 'Kamali labored for a full day,' Pucillo-Driscoll recalled. 'After hours of panting with no progress, we tried to move Kamali, but then the first puppy got stuck in the birth canal, and it was really scary.' 'That's when we knew we needed the kind of advanced care we could only get at Angell, so we packed up the car and headed to Boston,' she continued. Dr. Kiko Bracker, director of Angell Animal Medical Center's Emergency and Critical Care Department, said he knew as soon as Kamali came in that she would need an emergency c-section. 'There's a big risk of infection with cases like Kamali's,' Bracker explained. 'Unfortunately, these [procedures] can be really expensive.' Pucillo-Driscoll applied for financial assistance through MSPCA's Pet Care Assistance fund. It was then that KodiakCare stepped up and covered the remaining costs of Kamali's treatment. 'As doctors, we want to do everything that we can to save patients like Kamali who come through our doors in distress,' Bracker said. 'We're really grateful for funds like these that allow us to focus on getting pets the care they need, instead of having difficult conversations about possible surrender or euthanasia.' Angell's veterinary staff assisted Kamali in giving birth to five health puppies in the early hours of Feb. 8, according to the MSPCA. 'We founded this organization in honor of our late Bernese Mountain Dog, Kodiak,' said Glenn Shapiro, who launched KodiakCare with his wife, Nancy. 'Kodiak received the best possible care at Angell and ended up living nine years longer than expected.' 'All pet parents should have that chance, regardless of their position in life, and that's why we started this organization,' he added. The MSPCA said Pucillo-Drisoll has already found adopters for four of Kamali's puppies and plans to keep the fifth. Anyone interested in donating to KodiakCare can do so online.
