3 more govt schools in race for PM Shri tag in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Three senior secondary schools in the district were recommended for the PM Shri (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) status under the third phase of the scheme.
The district education department shortlisted three schools out of 18 applicants and forwarded their names to the state headquarters for final approval.
The selected schools include Govt Senior Secondary School, Kankrola, Govt Boys Senior Secondary School, Manesar, and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Heli Mandi.
According to officials, most of the 18 govt schools that applied did not meet the essential PM Shri criteria including the required fire no objection certificates, approved building plans, equipped libraries, science labs, and playgrounds. Only three schools were found eligible after a district-level committee review, which included the district project coordinator, assistant project coordinator, district education officer and district elementary education officer.
