Kansas State Football Preview 2025: Wildcats Season Prediction, Win Total Projection, Top Players
Kansas State Wildcats Key to the Season Don't turn it over multiple Kansas State style doesn't work when there are mistakes. Some teams are high-risk, high-reward, and that's not how this rolls. Screw up, and things go Wildcats turned it over twice in the opener against UT Martin and won easily, but against FBS teams they were 0-4 when turning it over two or more times. BYU, Arizona State, Iowa State, and Houston - all four were losses. When Kansas State didn't turn it over multiple times, it was 9-0. Kansas State Wildcats Key Player George Fitzpatrick, OT interior of the Kansas State offensive line is loaded with new parts, options, and giant mashers to get the ground game going. Tackle is a slight problem with a few losses, but the staff went after a few prospects, including Fitzpatrick, a 6-6, 309-pound former Ohio State Buckeye. He needs to be a solid starter. This could be an NFL showcase season if everything works like it's supposed Transfer Out: Carver Willis, OT State won the transfer portal game in a huge way. It didn't lose any true killers, and the net incoming talent blows away the departures. It's still not a good thing to lose a tackle as good as the 6-5, 291-pound Willis, who's off to work on the outside of the Ole Miss line. Kansas State Wildcats Key Game Iowa State, Aug. 23 (in Dublin)Kansas State has lost the last two regular-season finales against Iowa State, and this time around, the matchup kicks things off. It's the first game of the college football season, and it really, really matters. In the dead even Big 12 from top to almost bottom, the loser of this is in huge trouble before things get going.- 2025 Kansas State Schedule Breakdown Kansas State Wildcats Top 10 Players 1. But Kansas State improving takes the program from very good to College Football Playoff a deeper bunch this year, the talent is there on both sides of the ball, and there should be more consistency and so, yeah, again, the Big 12 is going to be an any-given-week no Arizona State, BYU, or Houston to face - those were three of the four losses last season. But going to Oklahoma State will be harder than it would've been last season. Kansas is better. Texas Tech is way better. Going to Arizona is the Wildcats should be good enough to win their share of 50/50 games to overcome a few losses that are sure to come. The road trip to Utah late in the campaign will be huge for the conference race, but if the Wildcats beat Iowa State to start the season, they should be in the Big 12 title hunt deep into The Kansas State Win Total At … 8.5Likely Wins: Army, North Dakota50/50 Games: at Arizona, at Baylor, Colorado, at Kansas, Iowa State (Dublin), at Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, UCF, at UtahLikely Losses: No projected sure-thing losses 2025 Kansas State PreviewKansas State Offense BreakdownKansas State Defense Breakdown © 2025 The Arena Group Holdings, Inc. Even oddsmakers can't decide who is the favorite to win the Big 12
Even oddsmakers can't decide who is the favorite to win the Big 12 It appears that even the oddsmakers don't know which way to lean when it comes to the eventual Big 12 champion in the upcoming college football season. Some experts are leaning toward the Arizona State Sun Devils to repeat as champions, while others have gone the route of tabbing Kansas State, Baylor, BYU, or Texas Tech as the favorite to win the conference and secure a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. Depending on which sportsbook you view, you could get a different answer. This isn't to say there are no good teams in the Big 12, this could be setting us up for a very competitive season in the conference. BetMGM's Big 12 Champion Odds FanDuel's Big 12 Champion Odds Arizona State Sun Devils (+600) Kansas State Wildcats (+600) Texas Tech Red Raiders (+600) Baylor Bears (+650) Utah Utes (+650) BYU Cougars (+950) DraftKings' Big 12 Champion Odds Arizona State Sun Devils (+500) Kansas State Wildcats (+500) BYU Cougars (+700) Texas Tech Red Raiders (+700) Baylor Bears (+800) Utah Utes (+800) No matter which way you dissect it, it seems pretty clear in the eyes of the oddsmakers, the Big 12 might be in for a wild ride between any of these six teams listed among the best chances to win the conference. Or perhaps one of the teams down the list is poised to make a run at the title. Either way, I can't wait to watch it all unfold.

2025 Dynasty Rookie Rankings: DJ Giddens
HOUSTON, TEXAS - NOVEMBER 02: DJ Giddens #31 of the Kansas State Wildcats runs the ball against the ... More Houston Cougars during the second half at TDECU Stadium on November 02, 2024 in Houston, Texas. (Photo by) Many people in the dynasty fantasy football community aren't super familiar with DJ Giddens yet. Below, we'll be breaking down Giddens profile for dynasty and placing him in my 2025 dynasty rookie rankings. Since Giddens played at Kansas State for his entire college career, he wasn't given as much media exposure. With that being said, Giddens put up some fantastic stats and put out plenty of solid film. At Kansas State, Giddens put up a very impressive stat line, breaking out as a sophomore. In 2023, Giddens had 1,226 yards (5.5 YPC), 10 touchdowns and 29 receptions for 323 yards. Giddens would decide to stay at school, posting 1,343 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground to pair with 21 receptions for 258 yards. The main concern with Giddens is about his pass-catching at the next level. In college, Giddens was primarily used in dump-off situations, raising questions about his hands. On top of that, Giddens has work to do as a blocker, which could make it difficult for him to get on the field during third downs. As a pure runner, though, Giddens is impressive, showing off great speed and vision. At the NFL Combine, Giddens had a 9.75 Relative Athletic Score and a 40-yard dash of 4.43 seconds. MANHATTAN, KS - NOVEMBER 23: Running back DJ Giddens #31 of the Kansas State Wildcats rushes for a ... More 17-yard touchdown in the second half against the Cincinnati Bearcats at Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium on November 23, 2024 in Manhattan, Kansas. (Photo by Peter G. Aiken/Getty Images) If you've read any of my other running back profiles, I've talked about how the NFL Draft affects these players' hit rates. A past study determined that running backs drafted in round three have a 5% higher chance of becoming an RB1 and a 9% higher chance of becoming an RB2 than those drafted in round four. I expect Giddens to be a late third-round pick, but the draft community doesn't necessarily agree. NFL Mock Draft Database has Giddens with a consensus rank of 104th overall (4th round). With that in mind, Giddens ended up being the RB11 in my 2025 dynasty rookie rankings. That says more about the strength of this class than it does about Giddens. That makes Giddens the 33rd overall player in my Superflex rankings and the 31st-ranked player in a 1QB format. The draft capital is my main concern, but he's plenty talented, making him a good dart throw in round three.
