Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel With the Election Commission launching the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, migrants in Delhi are confused. But, they have clarity over one thing -- that the Aadhaar card is no longer the sought-after document. Though some are sharing their Aadhaar card with the block-level officers, they don't have an idea of what will happen next."With an Aadhaar card, we used to get all documents. Now, we hear that it has lost its power. Let's see which new document they come up with. Today, it is being done in Bihar, tomorrow it will be the entire country," said Ramu Ram (37) of Lakho village in Begusarai, who works as a security guard in Shashi Garden area of East Vats (47) works as a program coordinator with NGO PAIRVI in Delhi. "The EC is not accepting Aadhaar. Aadhaar has now become the ₹500 note of pre-Notebandi era," he said. With less than a fortnight to complete the SIR exercise on July 25, migrants are facing different levels of confusion over this exercise. First, there are the confident ones who are taking the initiative to get their name registered. Then, there are those who are aware of what is going on and submitting documents. And third, there are those who are unaware of the entire Kumar (40), a software engineer from Paliganj in Bihar is currently residing in Mayur Vihar Phase-2. Kumar called the BLO in his village. His name was in the 2003 voter list and hence he doesn't need to worry. "The BLO asked me to submit the Aadhaar which I have given," he said. Similar is the case with Dinbandhu Vats. However, when it comes to their wives, the situation is different. Pankaj's wife Shweta Kumari, born and brought up in Bihar, became a voter after 2003. "Since her parents are also from Bihar, I don't think there will be a problem in her clearing the document test as she has class 10 certificate," he wife Pragya Pandey is from UP. "All her documents -- Class 10 certificate, Aadhaar card and parents' documents have UP address. Since she is my wife, she has the right to get a voter ID from my place. I am confused how to go about it," he Patel (32), an auto driver in Trilokpuri of Delhi, is still a voter of Sikta in Bettiah. He said he received a call from his family in Bihar asking for his Aadhaar. "My documents have a Bihar address, as my house is there," he said. Raj Kishor Yadav (40) came to Delhi a few months ago from Motipur in Darbhanga and is working as a labourer in setting up tents for Kanwarias near Mayur Vihar. Yadav said his documents are in the village and two days ago his brother shared it with the BLO. Ramu Ram is going back to Lakho village to get his name registered in the new voters' list. He shows his voter ID card with Bihar address, aadhaar card and 'eShram card' for labourers. "My brother is coming from Bengal where he works as a labourer. We need to have our documents in the village," he are also migrant Biharis in Delhi who are not even aware of the exercise, like Mantu Gupta (42), an e-rickshaw driver in Khichripur area. Gupta is a resident of Beldaur in Khagaria in Bihar. A few months ago, he brought his 19-year-old son to Delhi for work. "I have my documents in Bihar. I thought I would get my son's Aadhaar in Delhi. I couldn't because there is no document of my son with a Delhi address. I thought I will get it done once I go to Bihar during Chhath Puja. I cannot afford to go there twice," he Paswan, a security guard in Preet Vihar area has no idea of SIR. "I am surprised my brother didn't tell me. He is a village Pradhan," says Paswan from Madhuban in Motihari.
