Why authorities in Qatar are warning people to stay away from unidentified objects
Qatar 's Ministries of Defence and Interior have jointly issued a public safety advisory. It urges citizens and residents to report any suspicious fragments or strange objects that may be linked to the interception of Iranian missiles, as reported by Khaleej Times. It comes days after Iran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid US base in Qatar on Monday, June 23, in retaliation for US attacks on several nuclear sites in the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. Kate meets Melinda French Gates a week after missing Royal Ascot
The Princess of Wales has returned to in-person duties a week after missing Royal Ascot by holding a meeting with Melinda French Gates. Kate and husband William invited Ms Gates to Windsor Castle on Wednesday where the trio are understood to have discussed their philanthropic work. The royal couple have made it onto Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential philanthropists. William and Kate were named in the Innovators category where they were hailed by the US publication for modernising royal philanthropy. Their Royal Foundation supports a number of their projects, including Kate's early years work and William's fight against the illegal wildlife trade. Ms Gates, also named as a leading philanthropist by the magazine, is the former wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and established Pivotal in 2015 to accelerate social progress through investments. The meeting was featured in the Court Circular, the official record of royal engagements, which stated: 'The Prince and Princess of Wales, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon received Ms Melinda French Gates (Founder, Pivotal) at Windsor Castle.' In a surprise move last Wednesday, Kate missed Royal Ascot for the second successive year as she seeks the right balance following her treatment for cancer. Since announcing in January she is in remission, the princess has been gradually returning to public duties and her appearances had increased in recent weeks. She was last seen in public on June 16 attending the annual Order of the Garter service with senior royals.

Kate quietly holds A-list meeting after abruptly pulling out of Royal Ascot
IN LONDON Kate has made a quiet return to work with a very A-list meeting after cancelling her appearance at Royal Ascot. Royal-watchers were left disappointed earlier this week after it emerged that she'd had to cancel her scheduled appearance in the royal carriage procession alongside the King, Queen and Prince William at the iconic raceground, after also missing it last year due to her cancer treatment. Just days later, it's now emerged that Kate, 43, has privately resumed work duties, meeting with philanthropist Melinda Gates, the ex-wife of Microsoft founder and billionaire, Bill Gates, at Windsor Castle. According to the Court Circular, which records royal engagements, she was joined by William for the June 25 meeting. The exact details of their discussion have not been disclosed, but according to Hello magazine, the Prince and Princess of Wales 'represented their Royal Foundation at the meeting, which focuses on areas including the early years and mental health'. Despite being on a positive trajectory since announcing her gradual return to public duties following the completion of her chemotherapy, there were concerns on Wednesday when Kate pulled out of the racing event at the last minute. She had already been listed to travel in the second carriage of the royal procession, alongside her husband. However, a short time later it was confirmed by Kensington Palace that Kate would not be attending, with local media reporting she was 'disappointed' but was having to 'find the right balance as she fully returns to public facing engagements'. Despite pulling out of Ascot, Kate still had plenty of high-profile appearances last week, including Trooping the Colour and the Order of the Garter ceremony. She's not expected to be seen publicly over the next few days, but is likely to turn up at Wimbledon, which kicks off on Monday. It's also understood she'll take part in events associated with the French President and First Lady's state visit to the UK early next month. Back in January, she revealed she was in remission from cancer, which she had first publicly disclosed last March. Last September, she released an emotional video message, featuring personal footage of herself with William and their three children, opening up about the challenges they'd all been privately battling – but also proudly announced she had completed her treatment.

Nick Kyrgios reveals his snooty four-word reaction to being congratulated by Kate Middleton at Wimbledon - and royal fans will NOT be impressed
Nick Kyrgios has revealed what he thought when Kate Middleton praised him for his play after he lost the Wimbledon men's singles final in 2022 in a revelation that's sure to anger fans of the royal. The Aussie firebrand lost his title tilt to Novak Djokovic in four sets and discussed his memories of the Grand Slam before a live audience in London on Tuesday. Kyrgios revealed that he thinks about the defeat every day before recalling that the Princess of Wales told him, 'Great work, well played,' as they met on centre court during the trophy presentation - leading him to think, 'What would you know?' The 30-year-old fell to Djokovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 in a match that was punctuated by controversy when he told the umpire to remove a fan he accused of having '700 drinks'. Kyrgios had more to say about the Princess during last year's Wimbledon tournament. He was working as a colour commentator for the BBC during the men's singles final between Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz when he shared his joy at seeing Kate in the Royal Box. Kyrgios took the opportunity to offer the Princess of Wales his services as a coach, arguing that he'd make tennis a lot more interesting than Swiss legend Roger Federer, whom Kate has previously taken coaching advice from. 'Maybe I'm a little bit too volatile… but look, I've got a lot of time on my hands at the moment so I'm happy to coach [Kate Middleton],' Kyrgios said on BBC Sport. 'It'll be more fun being coached by me than it would by [Roger] Federer!' There'll be no repeat of those sorts of remarks from the Aussie on the Beeb this year after he was axed by the broadcaster. The move comes after the broadcaster copped backlash after employing him for last year's Championships 12 months after Kyrgios had admitted to assaulting his former girlfriend Chiara Passari. Kyrgios - who was praised for his insight and charisma at last year's tournament - hit back. 'It's unfortunate but it's probably their loss more than mine,' he told The Guardian. 'I understand they've got Chris Eubanks [as a replacement], but he hasn't beaten the greatest of all time multiple times. 'When someone's beaten Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic and has incredible insights, it's very strange you wouldn't want that person adding knowledge to tennis fans.' Eubanks, 29, reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2023 and has also developed a strong reputation as a pundit in the US, working for the Tennis Channel, ESPN, and TNT Sports.

Princess of Wales was ‘fortunate' to survive cancer, according to shocking new claims
A veteran royal reporter in the UK has shed light on the severity of the Princess of Wales' illness. It comes in the wake of the 43-year-old's unexpected absence this week from Royal Ascot, which raised concerns yet again about the state of her health. According to Rebecca English it's a firm reminder that the 43-year-old is still in recovery and she was likely far sicker than she let on last year when she underwent abdominal surgery in January before announcing in March that she had cancer, the nature of which she has not publicly revealed. 'As I have previously revealed the princess was seriously unwell in the run-up to her surgery in the first place,' English, a long-standing royal correspondent in the UK with impeccable palace sources, wrote in the Daily Mail. 'And while that is a story only for her to tell – if she ever chooses to do so – I can say that, from what I understand, she is fortunate to even be speaking of recovery. 'So, while she may be glowing on the outside the drama over her last-minute non-attendance at Royal Ascot last week is, perhaps, a timely reminder that the princess was really very poorly not so long ago. 'And it's why, to quote the princess herself, this year remains one of 'balance'.' In January Kate revealed she was in remission during a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She spent much of 2024 secretly visiting the hospital for her chemo treatment, where she was fitted with a semi-permanent 'port' in her chest. View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Prince and Princess of Wales (@princeandprincessofwales) Her non-attendance at Ascot is part of her 'slow and steady' return to royal life, where her health remains a priority over royal duties. It also comes after her back-to-back appearances at two major royal events – Trooping the Colour and the Order of the Garter. 'On some levels I actually think this is a good reminder that she was really seriously ill last year,' another source says. 'She underwent a significant period of chemo. As anyone who has been through that experience will tell you, you can feel very unwell for a long time afterwards. It can take years [to recover].' It's believed Kate will not be making any more public appearances for the remainder of June. It's thought she is 'highly likely' to make an appearance at Wimbledon, which starts on 30 June, in her role as royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. She is also set to play a 'significant' part in next month's visit by French President Emmanuel Macron at Windsor Castle. After that she and Prince William along with their children – Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (10) and Prince Louis (7) will decamp to Anmer Hall, their country home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk for the start of the school's two-month summer break. After that they are set to join King Charles and other senior royals at Balmoral Castle in August.
