KATE SCOTT was caught up in an awkward ending to DAZN's boxing coverage of Oleksandr Usyk's knock out win over Daniel Dubois. The 43-year-old presenter tried to end the show before she appeared to be told in her ear by a producer to make an quick u-turn. 2 Scott chose a bold fashion choice as she fronted up DAZN's coverage of the fight at Wembley Stadium. Scott, previously known as Kate Abdo before her recent marriage to Malik Scott, was front and centre for the broadcast. She was joined on the initial coverage by former two-weight world boxing champion Carl Frampton, who leant his boxing expertise to the show. Boxing icon Lennox Lewis also joined the lineup later in the coverage. Usyk only needed five rounds to knock Dubois out and become undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time. AvalonBay sued for alleged housing discrimination at Washington, DC, property

The Equal Rights Center, a Washington, D.C.-based civil rights organization, has filed a lawsuit against Arlington, Virginia-based housing REIT AvalonBay Communities, alleging that the housing REIT discriminated against tenants with housing vouchers and falsely advertised bedroom counts at its AVA NoMa property. The entities named as defendants in the complaint, filed on June 3 in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, include AvalonBay and its ownership subsidiary for AVA NoMa, Arlington-based Archstone North Capitol Hill 2 LP. AVA NoMa, located in the NoMa neighborhood in Washington, is a 438-unit apartment building that advertises 101 studio, 184 one-bedroom, 96 two-bedroom and 57 three-bedroom units, according to the lawsuit. However, in 47% of the one-bedroom units, 50% of the two-bedrooms and 100% of the three-bedrooms, at least one of the advertised sleeping areas lacks a window, according to the complaint. Under the D.C. Housing Code Standards, a room cannot legally be considered a bedroom unless it has a window or frosted glass that lets in a certain amount of natural light scaled to the size of the room, according to court documents. 'D.C.'s housing code requires windows in bedrooms as a matter of basic health and safety,' said Kate Scott, executive director of the ERC, in a news release. 'The complaint alleges that AVA NoMa skirted this basic requirement, and played fast and loose with its tenants' well-being.' Renters that don't use housing vouchers would not encounter any trouble leasing these units because of their bedroom windows. However, in order for a potential renter with a housing voucher to lease a unit in Washington, the unit must pass an inspection from the District of Columbia Housing Authority. An apartment advertised as a two-bedroom unit with windows in only one of its designated bedrooms would only pass DCHA inspection as a one-bedroom unit, according to the complaint. At that point, the DCHA would consider the rent charged — scaled for a two-bedroom unit — excessive for a one-bedroom, and the voucher holder would not be approved to rent the apartment. In the course of the ERC's investigation, which stemmed from complaints from its clients about not being able to rent at AVA NoMa, the organization found that the property's management may have known about the issue with voucher holders as early as 2020, according to the ERC. When ERC testers called the property to ask about renting with a voucher, the leasing agent told them directly that while vouchers were accepted, they would not be approved for many of the building's units, according to court documents. The plaintiff alleges that AvalonBay violated the District's consumer protection and anti-discrimination laws by falsely advertising its legal bedroom counts and preventing voucher holders from being approved for leases. It also states that voucher holders are actively encouraged not to apply to the property. AvalonBay Communities did not respond to a request for comment from Multifamily Dive. The ERC is asking for a judgment stating that the defendants violated these laws, an injunction requiring them to immediately correct their advertising and any other judgments as the court sees fit, according to the lawsuit. The Manchester-born CBS Sports presenter previously went by Kate Abdo before she tied the knot in September 2024 with Malik Scott - an American former heavyweight professional boxer. Their relationship was first revealed live on air by pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in December 2023 and since then, Kate, 43, and Malik, 44, have shared the occasional glimpse into their private lives for their social media followers. And their latest public appearance came at the Sofascore Player of the Season award ceremony, which was produced by CBS. The event - which took place in Zadar, Croatia - was directed by the multiple Emmy award-winning Pete Radovich - CBS's creative lead for their Champions League coverage. On the night, Kate wore a glamorous figure-hugging white dress and heels, while Malik donned a black and white chequered shirt, complimented by a black bowler hat. Murati had started work as a television presenter at the age of 18, while working for an Italian-Albanian television channel. She turned up to the pomp in a slinky blue dress and platform heels, and was seen interviewing some figureheads of the sport. After equalling the record for goal contributions in a Premier League campaign in 2024-25, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah was voted Sofascore's Player of the Season on the night. Salah beat the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Cole Palmer and Matheus Cunha to the coveted award. UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov refuses to shake hands with female sportscaster in awkward moment
UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov raised eyebrows over the weekend when he refused to shake hands with CBS Sports broadcaster Kate Scott during UEFA Champions League coverage. Nurmagomedov was among those on hand to watch Paris Saint-Germain trounce Inter Milan to win the UEFA Champions League. It was the first time in the club's history. It also comes in the wake of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi all leaving the club over the last few years. The former UFC fighter, who is Muslim, shook hands with streamer IShowSpeed, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and Thierry Henry. As Scott put her hand out, Nurmagomedov kept his hand at his chest. "I apologize, thank you so much," Scott said taking her hand away and putting it toward her chest. It is likely that Nurmagomedov was following his religious beliefs in not shaking hands with Scott. The undefeated UFC fighter is a devout follower of Islam. The religion instructs men not to shake hands with a woman they are not married to. Scott married Malik Scott in 2024. Nurmagomedov was one of the best fighters the UFC has seen in quite a while. He was the first Muslim fighter to win a UFC championship. He retired from the sport following a submission win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in 2020. He was 29-0 in his career. Since his retirement, Nurmagomedov has been in the corner of Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov.
