Telangana: BRS leader Kavitha meets victims of chemical factory explosion at hospital

Sangareddy (Telangana) [India], July 1 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha visited a hospital in the Patancheru area on Tuesday and met the victims of the Sigachi Pharma chemical factory explosion. The death toll in the Sigachi Pharma Industries explosion in Telangana's Sangareddy district rose to 34. According to officials, over a dozen workers also sustained injuries in the explosion in the Pasamailaram Phase 1 area of Telangana's Sangareddy district on Monday. The BRS leader was seen engaging with the victims of the explosion as well as the hospital staff. Kavitha alleged that the incident took place due to the state government's negligence and demanded that compensation of Rs 1 crore be provided to the kin of the deceased. In a post on X, K Kavitha said, 'A visit was made to console the victims injured in the explosion at the Sigachi Chemical Factory in Pashamailaram, who are receiving treatment at Dhruva Hospital in Pathancheru. It is unfortunate that such an incident occurred.' 'This accident happened due to the government's negligence regarding safety measures in industries. The government should take the initiative to ensure safety in industries. A compensation of one crore rupees should be provided to the families of the deceased,' said the BRS leader. Adding further, she posted, 'The government should release funds through a green channel to the hospitals providing treatment to the victims. It is not even being disclosed how many workers were working in the factory at the time of the accident. It is learned that there were also minors among the workers in the factory. The government should reveal the truth about this matter.' Earlier in the day, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of the deceased and ordered a detailed inquiry into the Sigachi Pharma Industries explosion that killed 34 people and left several others injured. Addressing the gathering, CM Reddy said, 'Rs 1 crore will be given to the deceased and Rs 10 lakh to the seriously injured, and Rs 5 lakh to the injured people. The government will take care of their medical treatment...' He further added that the government would not only provide financial assistance but also establish new regulations to prevent such incidents in the future. 'The inquiry is going on. We will examine everything and see all the lapses and make regulations,' the Chief Minister said. The Chief Minister announced an immediate assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the deceased's family and Rs 50,000 to the injured to cover emergency expenses. He visited Sigachi Pharma Industries in the Sangareddy district and held a review meeting. He directed officials to submit a detailed investigation report into the cause of the blast. While interacting with factory authorities, Chief Minister Reddy asked, 'Don't conclude with assumption or general opinion. I need specific reasons for this accident. Only then can we address what happened here today.' The Chief Minister also enquired about the treatment status and hospital expenses of the injured victims. He said, 'How many people are unskilled and skilled labour? Have you segregated the number of skilled and unskilled workers who died after the blast?' Revanth Reddy emphasised that such incidents should serve as a learning point for both the government and industry stakeholders. 'We need to focus on what instructions we must give to avoid similar problems in other industries like this. There are two things we need from this: first, a detailed report, and second, accountability,' he further said. He directed the officials not to rely on earlier inspections or reports and insisted on fresh evaluations by new experts. The Chief Minister also referred to possible compliance lapses by the industry and called for a review of past notices and penalties. Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the explosion and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Coming home to heal: Rise of returning doctors from US & UK reshaping Hyderabad's healthcare

HYDERABAD: In a quiet but profound trend, a growing number of Indian doctors who once pursued careers in the United States and the United Kingdom are now making their way back home-bringing with them decades of global experience and a renewed commitment to serve their country. Hyderabad, with its booming healthcare infrastructure and growing demand for specialised care, has emerged as a hub for these returnees, many of whom are not only joining leading hospitals but are also setting up their own healthcare institutions. Some doctors are drawn back by the desire to care for aging parents. Others return driven by a vision to contribute to India's rapidly evolving medical landscape. For many, it's a blend of both. The city is now home to the Returning Doctors Association, an informal network of over 150 physicians who have resettled here after stints abroad. Dr Kavitha Gone, a senior nephrologist who returned from the UK after 16 years, is one of the key voices in this community. "This isn't a formal organisation. It's more of a support system-a circle where returning doctors share experiences, guidance, and advice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Forget Furosemide, Use This Household Item To Help Drain Edema Fluid WellnessGuide Learn more Undo Medical protocols differ greatly across countries, so this peer-to-peer help has been invaluable," she said. Dr Kavitha spent six years working in a corporate hospital upon her return before launching her own practice. "The transition was challenging but rewarding. Coming back home was about giving back, but also about redefining what quality care can look like in India," she reflected. Several returnees have gone a step further and founded hospitals of their own. Among them is Dr Venkatesh Movva, a pioneer in regenerative medicine and founder of RegenOrthoSport. After nearly a decade in the US, he made a conscious decision to return. "Of course, the US is more lucrative, but for me, it was about impact. In India, we still over-rely on surgery for even minor injuries," he said. Dr Karthik Mikkilineni, a vascular surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery and now practising at RIVEA Vascular Institute, echoed a similar sentiment. "I came back post-Covid with a clear purpose-to bridge the gaps in clinical protocols. In many cases, surgeries and tests are rushed into without sufficient evaluation," he explained. Interestingly, while physicians have historically returned from both the US and the UK, recent years have seen a stronger trend of repatriation from the US. Dr Venkata Swamy, founder of Roma Hospital and a trauma orthopaedic specialist, has returned from the UK twice. A native of Karimnagar, his mission has remained rooted in community care. "A decade ago, I returned to set up a hospital in my village. I came back again two years ago to start a hospital in the city. This is more than a profession-it's about building healthcare access in the places that shaped me," he said.

Youth, student leaders from city join Telangana Jagruthi

HYDERABAD Several youth and student leaders from Kukatpally, Serilingampally, Jubilee Hills and Patancheru constituencies joined Telangana Jagruthi in the presence of its president and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Kavitha said the Telangana society has given two visionaries, one of them was former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, and the other being BRS founder-president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. She stated that it was from the thought process of late Prof. K. Jayashankar and Mr. Rao that Telangana Jagruthi took shape in 2006 with the agenda of protecting the cultural identity of Telangana, which was facing threat of existence due to the cultural onslaught of Seemandhra leaders high-handedness in the politics of combined Andhra Pradesh. Turning to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, she said that it is unfortunate that a person who had never uttered the Jai Telangana slogan is at the helm of State's affairs today, and except use of filthy language against his political opponents, he had learnt nothing.

Kavitha holds talks with Union Minister Athawale over 42% BC quota

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has appealed to Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale to take the initiative to ensure that the bills passed by the Telangana Assembly and sent for the President's approval to provide 42 per cent reservation to BCs in Telangana are approved. The Union Minister Athawale, who arrived in Hyderabad on Friday, met MLC Kavitha. On this occasion, they discussed the BC movement being carried out by Telangana Jagruthi and the issue of providing 42 per cent reservation to BCs. At the same time, a petition was submitted to the President to take the initiative to approve the BC bills. Kavitha stated that the role of the masses in the development of civilization in the construction of society for generations is very crucial, and at the same time, the lack of representation of those communities in local bodies on the basis of their population is a matter of concern. She explained that OBCs have been agitating for equal opportunities across the country, especially in Telangana, for a long time, and that Telangana Jagruthi strongly believes that the demand for 42 per cent reservation in education, jobs, and local bodies for BCs in Telangana is fair, and in this regard, movements and round table meetings have been organized democratically across the state under the auspices of Telangana Jagruthi. She reminded that the Telangana state government introduced and passed two separate bills in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council and sent them for the President's approval. MLC Kavitha brought to the attention of the Union Minister that even though a long time has passed since the bills were sent for the President's approval, they have not yet received the seal of approval. 'We appeal to you to take the initiative to give the President's approval to the bills providing 42 per cent reservation to BCs in Telangana,' said Kavitha.
