ENTRAPMENT (8) is a first starter by Star Witness. Tracked the leader came along the fence for a three-quarter length second to Savvy Hallie in her Rosehill trial. He finished seventh in the Breeders Plate on debut and returned his next prep with a three-quarter length fourth to Rivellino in the Skyline. Closed smartly to win his latest Randwick trial. KARMARDO (2) was good in both start when second to Exclusive Artist here on Feb 9 and fourth to Jacob's Ladder a month later. Trialling well including a win in his July 11 Randwick heat. By So You Think from a Pierro mare, he will keep improving as he gets out over ground. AUTUMN HEIR (7) has finished fourth at his past two runs over 1650m and 1600m. Broke her maiden with a smart win this track and distance last start and can go back-to-back. VETWELVE (1) had also shown handy ability including a couple of placings in midweek company. Sat outside the leader at Wyong and raced away to beat Justice Warrior who won his next start. Drops back from a Randwick Midway. MONTIGO BAY (5) and AFFERMATO (2) have place claims. Bet: Commanding Belle to win ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 6: Illawarra Steelers Hcp (C1) 1500m JAMARNI (4) was held up in the straight never tested when ninth to Autumn Dream last start. Tracked the leader and took and inside run on straightening to score a nice win at Hawkesbury before that. Drawn ideally and can bounce back. SAN GIOVANNI (5) was specked on debut at Newcastle where settled back third last before closing strongly to beat Bella Wahine over 1200m. From a 1400m stakes winner so he should appreciate the extra trip. SWEXAN (3) led and held on for a narrow win over 1450m at Muswellbrook last start. Bet: Jamarni each-way RACE 7: Peter Newell Oam Memorial (Bm64) 2400m TWILIGHT ELEGANCE (4) stepped up to 2100m for the first time when a closing third to Malbork Castle at Hawkesbury after being held up between the 400m and 300m. Raced outside the leader when a nice winner over 2100m at Gosford. Up to 2400m and should handle it. LENNOX (1) was third over 1600m at Gosford and fifth over 1900m at Canterbury before stepping up to 2100m when second to Twilight Elegance. Was fourth over this trip in his last run in England. STYLEBENDER (2) was beaten a nose at Grafton last start when shooting for the hat-trick. Bet: Twilight Elegance to win ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 8: Illawarra Cancer Carers (Bm64) 1000m BEV'S NINE (6) started favourite on debut at Wyong and got the job done nicely with a length-and-a-quarter win from Gamp. Good chance to back-to-back. DUKE OF BRONTE (1) was an easing favourite when he resumed with a third to the in-form Mal Coupe after racing keenly on Hawkesbury on July 3. He is a 68 rater and the 3kg gets him into this race nicely. WAVE BREAKER (5) raced on speed in her first two runs back in metropolitan company. Came from near last when third to Prima Bella at Newcastle last start. Bet: Bev's Nine to win

GOULBURN INSIDE MAIL SHADY ROAD (10) has also accepted for Muswellbrook today. Long story short; he was a $650,000 Easter Yearling purchase who has trialled really well without having been shown up or shown off. CRIMSON WINGS (9) is ready to go to the races after two trials, one good, the other one – very good. Hails forms a great NZ family. SHREDDED (6) was well-backed on debut at Kembla. Beaten but could be a big improver. BET: SHADY ROAD (10) each-way or if scratched CRIMSON WINGS (9) to win. WEXFORD MISS (3) is a Kembla winner for the O'Shea/Charlton. Still with Champion Thoroughbreds, she has twice finished runner-up inside her five runs for Danielle Seib who has found the perfect fit for the mare today. CRAZY ATOM (4) will very much appreciate the 1400m second-up, off his 1200m return last month. Has sound numbers on Heavy tracks. Forbes resident EAST HARLEM (7) is crying out for 1400m now. BET: WEXFORD MISS (3) (best bet), Daily Double 1st Leg 3, 2nd Leg 6. NAMBI GHIMA (11) is unplaced in six starts but her best run so far was on a Heavy track at Nowra. The Jason Coyle bred, owned and trained filly also trialled rather well on occasions on Heavy tracks at Warwick Farm. THE BIG BLUE (6) was warming to the task big time when third at Wyong first-up. This big track will suit him better, so will the mile. Ditto that for OMAHA SAND (3) who has miler written all over him. GREYGENTA (6) is a ghostly grey like her sire, D'Argento, the Rosehill Guineas winner. This Gary Portelli trained $35,000 weanling purchase has done some good things in her five starts so far. Her win at Queanbeyan was bordering on the unbelievable; they don't often win from last of 10 like she did that day. Market watch advised. Her biggest danger – and obstacle – is the stablemate SCULPTOR (4) whose lone win was on a heavy 8 at Goulburn. Drawn wide but not a terribly big field. BET: GREYGENTA (6) to win or if scratched SCULPTOR (4) to win. â– â– â– â– â– MUSWELLBROOK TIPS NEXT BEST Race 1 No.3 HE'STHECHIEF: Local who has his foot firmly on the till. VALUE Race 3 No.7 BELLERATA: First starter from a good barn who has trialled well. SWEXAN (5) is a son of Sweynesse out of a mare by Melbourne Cup placegetter Jakallberry. There is no doubt with that sort of pedigree that Swexan will run at very least a mile and probably more. If that is true, then he has to be marked 'up' on that distant third on debut at Wyong over 1100m. REBEL RHAPSODY (1) has placed at three of his six starts, all at the provincials, one by a nose at Kembla. Has trialled well. EMPRESS TSARINA (4) demands respect. BET: SWEXAN (5) to win. TANGLEWOOD JIMMY (7) is a handy horse who has finished 'out of the frame' once in 10 starts and that was on a Heavy 10 at Rosehill at the end of a pretty long and successful campaign. He was very hard to miss late in the race first-up here. Progressive type. GALANO (1) has 65kg which doesn't automatically rule him out but is he a 10kg better horse than 'Jimmy'? Doubt it but we'll see. LUSKAIRE (3) and POCKET EIGHTS (4) have claims. BET: TANGLEWOOD JIMMY (7) to win (best bet), Daily Double 1st Leg 7, 2nd Leg 5. SUPERHERO (1) has accepted for two races at Canterbury on Wednesday. Should he be absent today, it could open the door for the 2022 Rockhampton Capricornia Yearling Sale Classic 2YO Plate winner, Sammiballerina to waltz back into the winner's stall. Sure, she doesn't win often but her other victory was here at home over this same trip. EIGHTY EIGHT STARS (5) is a track/distance winner. GOLDEN HONOUR (6) has won three times on Heavy. PRINCESS MARY (5) has two wins and three seconds from 15 starts. More impressive however are her first-up stats if one win and two seconds from five fresh runs. She handles Good to Heavy. On face value, the 1000m is short of her best but her best is good enough to win this and she is first-up remember off a smashing trial win. TOOMUCHINFORMATION (3) and WITHSTAND (4) are likewise first-up. As for Bullock's mount, Toomuchinformation, he trialled well in the Princess Mary heat.

Trained by Chris Waller, like all the 'K' horses of Messrs Morgan and Devine, this 3YO has the talent to take him far beyond provincial racing in time. INVISIBLE MAGIC (8) has placed behind three high quality horses in each of her three runs namely Hopper, Anamoe's half-sister Blue Willow and Sister Daae (in town). BET: KIKOIRA to win. MISTY VEIL (11) was bred by Gerry Harvey and was passed at the Magic Millions with a $125,000 reserve. Fair enough too, you can't take any less for a Wootton Bassett filly from such a prolific black-type family as hers. Ran last in her May 26 trial but went as well as all of those in front of her. NEWY (9) is a million times better than what he showed on debut on the Kensington track on June 11. BET: MISTY VEIL to win. OAKFIELD NEPTUNE (5), as his name suggests, is a Bruce Mackenzie-owned filly. Mr Mackenzie pretty much has an Oakfield for every planet in our solar system and so far, most of them have shown something. As for Oakfield Neptune, her latest trial really was out of this world impressive. Hard to miss, easy to like. KEINBAH'S GIFT (3) is a local filly with plenty of trial experience, her fifth and last one was her best one. BET: OAKFIELD NEPTUNE to win. ESCARGOES (4) is a Mulberry/Brad Widdup horse, they being the new Everest slot-holders just announced. This colt was sold for $280,000 at Easter, looks-wise he's a real mix of his father Capitalist and dam-sire Sebring (both Slipper winners). This is a great pedigree. Warning up late over 1100m on debut at Gosford. Speaking of pedigrees. BARKING MAD (3) is by Wootton Bassett and the second foal of Invincibella. Triallng well. LOVING (1) is the only winner in the race. BET: ESCARGOES to win, exacta 4 to beat 3. INNCOURT (1) was $4.40 into $2.40 when he made his Australian debut over 1200m at Wyong on June 8. It was an absolutely brilliant ride by Ashley Morgan who got the timing precise. You could see straight away that he would be better on a bigger track and here we are at Newcastle with an extra 200m added on – that's a plus too. CRIMSON MISS (4) came to Australia from NZ with an Ellerslie second on debut on December 12. Won by a nose at Kembla on May 31 at 1300m – 1400m is better. BET: INNCOURT to win. CROP DUSTER (2) is housed at Scone but has been to Newcastle nine times. No wonder he keeps coming back, he has won four times here and was second once. His record at the Newcastle 1400m is even better, three starts for two wins. Huge run at the midweeks last start. Ditto that last bit for HOW MUCH BETTER (4) who came from last to be beaten a length and a half by his stablemate on the Kensington track last time. BET: CROP DUSTER to win, quinella 2,4, Daily Double 1st Leg 2, 2nd Leg 4. PRINCESS CRUISER (4) was foaled on November 9, 2020, which hands the sad honour and distinction of being the very last foal born by the great Choisir. How appropriate then that she was bought at the HTBA Yearling sale by Paul Perry. Just one other breeding note, her grandam is the Golden Slipper winner, Calaway Gal. Good race mare and trialled like a bomb. SUPERHERO (6) is just so consistent and is getting so close to winning again. BET: PRINCESS CRUISER to win, quinella 4,6, box trifecta 3, 4, 5, 6. MAGICON (4) was foaled at Kooringal Stud at Wagga, is housed at Wyong with Tracey Bartley, but has a real affinity with Newcastle. It's here that the son of Champagne Stakes/VRC Derby winner Prized Icon has raced five times for a win and a second. That win as it happens was over this same distance and he won very easily too. WHETU (2) is a fit and very consistent son of Dundeel. Can't see him not running well in this line-up. SCHOLL DEEP (5) will likely be very prominent in the run. SKIING (9) and STYLEBENDER (10) have claims.

QUADDIE Race 4: 1,2,3,11 Race 5: 2,4,7,11 Race 6: 2 Race 7: 3 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Leader/defending title champion Keagan Latham is on 49 Provincial wins this season. KEMBLA INSIDE MAIL BEAUTY DASH (4) races in the same colours as Hong Kong idol Beauty Generation. This mare is by I Am Invincible out of a Encosta de Lago mare who is herself out of a Zabeel mare so she's got the pedigree to get somewhere. Trialled three times dating back to July last year and lots to like about all of them. THAIBEEFSALADE (10) has raced here at home 13 times for four placings, sometimes in 'strong' maidens. KOWLOON VICTOR (3) is a fast horse. Market watch advised. BRIDE WARS (5) and the debutante JUST LIKE TILDA (8) are most worthy of support. BET: BEAUTY DASH (4) to win, exacta 4 to beat 10. EMPRESS TSARINA (3) is a Russian Revolution filly whose dam is a Canterbury winning half-sister to Mazu and Headway. This Edward O'Rourke trained 3YO was $41 on debut, clocking in an 'even' fourth of seven behind I Am Brave in the opener on Scone Cup day. Drawn well this time and has the race experience now CUBAN RAIN (8) 's best two runs so far have both been here at home The extra 100m now, second-up, could make all the difference to her. Ditto that last bit for the stablemate JAMARNI (9). BET: EMPRESS TSARINA (3) to win, quinella 3,8. ANT (1) is by Snitzel out of a half-sister to Appearance but his future lies at the mile and beyond. The Chris Waller gelding has a get back/run on pattern but that could change now that he gets to 2000m. Whatever the case and wherever they ride him, he is crying out for this trip. The same goes for his stablemate SO SUAVE (3) who is of course, the younger brother of Verry Elleegant. Pardon the pun but I have a theory MR CONSPIRACY (16) might run well at this trip. BET: ANT (1) to win, quinella 1,3, MR CONSPIRACY (16) to place. OH GOLLY GOSH (11) has finished on the podium at 16 of her 37 starts which is an appealing scenario for each-way punters bearing in mind that she has only won three times. A few points there; one of those wins was on Heavy and she does generally give away headstarts in her races. Nicely weighted. HOT BANDIT (1) is from the in-form Luke Pepper stable. The horse has the highest benchmark rating of all who gets in 3 kgs less thanks to the claim. INVADE AND CONQUER (2) 's best form has been here at home. BET: OH GOLLY GOSH (11) each-way. DAPPER DANCER (11) may have only managed one won from 16 starts but it helps that it was on a Heavy track given the conditions on Tuesday. The form guide says he is four starts at Kembla with nothing to show for it but that last run here on May 17 was actually rather good. For the record, the Ron Leemon-trained chestnut finished a length and tail fourth behind Miss Spacegirl who will naturally be awfully hard to beat again. WINNER OF KOWLOON (7) and ONE LAST SHOT (3) are both players in an open race. BET: DAPPER DANCER (11) each-way, Daily Double 1st Leg 11, 2nd leg 3. THE PROFESSOR (2) brings together father (trainer) Richard Collett and son (jockey) Jason for the 402nd time. Their current tally is 71 wins and 108 placings. One win and one placing among that total can be attributed to The Professor who has been good in his two runs back this time; just got too far back with big weights each time. EUROMASTER (4) doesn't win often but he doesn't run many bad races. TOKYO QUEEN (6) is a Newcastle winner inside her three starts. BET: THE PROFESSOR (2) to win, box trifecta 2,4,6,8. ZARAGOZA (3) is the sixth and last foal of Ramornie winner Jerezana whose prior offspring included Osborne Bulls and Zapateo. A former Godolphin resident himself, Zaragoza has been with the Prices at Kembla for a while and done very well indeed. In fact, he just loves racing in the Illawarra; his record here is 7 starts for three wins and three placings. Ticks a lot of boxes – especially the jockey! CASSIEL (4) rolled a pretty good lot of sprinters at Canterbury first-up. Mitch Beer local SCISSOR ME TIMBERS (6) is an absolute muddie! Newcastle preview: A confident Empress Of Japan is ready to rule

Jockey Keagan Latham was thrilled to see Empress Of Japan return to form with a booming victory last start and feels she can replicate it when she heads up the motorway to Newcastle. The Michael Freedman-trained filly had finished just behind the placegetters at Kembla at her first two runs back this campaign before dropping back to country grade at Goulburn and storming home from near last to beat Zipitilist over 1400m. 'We always thought a little bit of her, myself and Michael,' said Latham. 'She won her first start at Gosford and then she ran in the Percy Sykes at Randwick. 'Unfortunately, she was taken out with a bit of interference and I think it knocked her confidence a little bit in the prep thereafter. 'Even though it was only a small margin in the end, she had the best part of eight to ten lengths to make up at the top of the straight. The Form: Complete NSW Racing thoroughbred form, including video replays and all you need to know about every horse, jockey and trainer. Find a winner here! 'She travelled well but when I pushed the button, she really let down with a terrific turn of foot.' Empress Of Japan can potentially earn herself a shot at a black type race over the winter with a win in the Benchmark 68 Handicap (1500m) where she had barrier 2. 'The key is she likes to be ridden with a bit of cuddle to allow her to come with one strong run,' Latham said. 'While she has a good draw this week, I don't think she will be any closer than midfield and have one last shot at them. 'The long straight at Newcastle allows her to do that.' Latham and Freedman also combine with lightly-raved gelding Gone To Cape York in the Class 1 Handicap (1250m). The three-year-old scored on debut at Nowra under Latham before a three length seventh at Wyong last start when ridden by Zac Lloyd. 'It was a good effort to win on debut because he's not really an 1100m horse and he took the length of the straight to get his head in front,' said Latham. 'At Wyong, he didn't have much room in the straight. He was just among horses and could get a real crack. 'From the draw, he should get plenty of room and the length of the straight at Newcastle is going to be his best advantage.' Latham rode the John Sargent-trained Khant Fail to back-to-back placings at Newcastle and Wyong last preparation and is looking forward to renewing their association in the Maiden Plate (1850m). The four-year-old daughter of New Zealand and Australian Derbies and Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan has been good in finishing third in both runs this time in over 1500m an 1600m and will appreciate the step up in trip. 'She gave me a nice feel last prep but she was a big baby. She is a tall animal and definitely needed to grow into herself,' he said. 'She's had two this time in over short distances and I thought she has run pretty well. 'She ran well at Newcastle last prep and steps up to a more suitable trip this week. 'John is very good with staying fillies and from barrier 1, we will have her a close as she is comfortable and I think she can run quite a sneaky race.' Latham also has two rides to local trainer Paul Perry on Passalacqua in the Maiden Plate (1250m) and debutant Seven Wonders in the 2YO Maiden Plate (900m). 'I think Passalacqua has matured a lot more this prep and he can run a sneaky race,' he said. 'I haven't ridden Seven Wonders but you can never under estimate Paul Perry's horses, especially at home.' ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ Trainer Kerry Parker was pleased with the way Equilibrist reacted with the blinkers on or the first time at his most recent start and feels he can back it up with another big run. The four-year-old was only fair in beating two home when resuming at Kembla last month which prompted Parker to make the gear change. Equilibrist went back from a wide gate to settle near last before coming inside runners on the bend and squeezing through a gap late to finish a length third behind Eclair Awesome over 1600m at Gosford on April 10. The four-year-old looks suited stepping up in trip in the Benchmark 64 Handicap (1850m) with Jason Collett aboard. 'His first-up run was just a pass mark. 'Her last start at Hawkesbury, she was just at her top the whole way and couldn't get into that really nice rhythm. 'She is a little bit one-paced and the 1850m looks to be up her alley. 'If she can get herself in a handy position up on speed, she will keep grinding away.'
