The school where allegiances are split between England and Wales ahead of crunch Euro clash
Western Rhyn Primary School, in Oswestry, straddles the English and Welsh border. Technically in Shropshire, it's just a couple of miles away from Wales - and the town itself has the most Welsh speakers in England. The school has always had close links to both nations, but when it comes to football, the divide is easy to see, as allegiances are split between St George and the Dragon. And with England taking on Wales on Sunday, in what is a crunch Euros match for both teams, excitement is building for both sides. Kelly Morris, teaching assistant at the school, said: "It is very divided with Wales and England which is a good competition and it's healthy between the two sides. It might be a bit awkward on Monday. "We've been doing a sweepstake in the school and at the end whoever wins will get a goody bag, so it's just getting them all involved and understanding about women's football and getting interested in it as well." Both teams have something to play for. As it stands France are top on six points, England second on three points, the Netherlands are third, also on three points, but with a worse goal difference to England and Wales are bottom on zero points. England had a shaky start to the tournament, losing 2-1 to the French, but found their groove in their second group game against the Dutch, storming to a 4-0 victory. A win against the Welsh would be enough secure their place in the knockout stages. France and the Netherlands have to play each other - so one will either drop points or lose their goal difference, meaning England will progress either way if they win. Wales have lost both of their group games so far, but they still have a slim chance to progress to the knockout stages if France beat the Dutch and they beat England 5-0. England kick-off against Wales at 8pm on Sunday, but whatever happens and whatever side of the divide the youngsters sit, they are united in following the women's Euros.
