No Talk Of Change Of Chief Minister By High Command: Siddaramaiah's Son
Bengaluru: Amid mounting speculation over a potential leadership change in Karnataka, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has strongly dismissed the rumours, asserting that his father has the full backing of both the party high command and legislators. He, a Member of the Legislative Council, underlined that his father will complete his five-year term as Chief Minister. Junior Siddaramaiah's statement comes amid repeated comments from Congress MLAs and ministers hinting at a political churn towards the end of the year. Minister KN Rajanna's recent statement has fuelled most of the speculation. "Between 2013 and 2018, there was just one power centre. Now there are one, two, three, several power centres. When power centres increase, the issues also increase. Most people have an opinion that they are not seeing the Siddaramaiah of 2013. Let September pass, then we will talk about all this," said Mr Rajanna. Adding to the speculation, Congress MLA Pradeep Eshwar, speaking during a Kempegowda Jayanti event on Friday, offered glowing praise for DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah's Deputy, "As I end my speech, I want to remember DK Shivakumar, the leader whom I trust and dream of. I wish that his future is bright, and he takes one more step forward in his political career." Yathindra Siddaramaiah's remarks are the most definitive rebuttal yet from the Siddaramaiah camp. "Repeated statements are being made because there are certain factions that want to become CM, so they keep trying to spread rumours," he said. "But from the time the government was formed, Siddaramaiah has had the support of the high command and will continue to do so. The legislators also support Siddaramaiah. Therefore, he will continue for five years. The high command has never said they will change the CM or given any hints in this regard," he added. Asked about Mr Rajanna's comments, the Chief Minister's son said, "Only the minister can explain the context of his statement." He noted that such rumours have been circulating since the formation of the government. "From the beginning, there had been talk that Siddaramaiah would be removed within six months. Later, it was said he would be replaced after the MUDA case came to light - but nothing of the sort has happened," he said. As Karnataka continues to witness a tug-of-war between factions backing Siddaramaiah and those supporting DK Shivakumar, the political spotlight now turns to September, the month increasingly being seen as a possible turning point.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday dismissed remarks made by Minister KN Rajanna suggesting possible political changes in the state, saying it is better to ignore such statements. He clarified that Rajanna only mentioned there may be developments, not that anything specific would happen. Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah said, 'There is no internal dispute in the party. Minister KN Rajanna has said that there may be developments in state politics. He said that he did not say that something like this would happen. It would be better to ignore his statement.' On the 516th birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar garland the statue of Kempegowda. The Chief Minister called him a visionary and the founder of modern Bengaluru. Speaking after garlanding Kempegowda's statue located on the eastern side of Vidhana Soudha, the Chief Minister said, 'Kempegowda was an efficient and far-sighted administrator. The global recognition that Bengaluru enjoys today is because it laid its foundation. 'The birth anniversary is being celebrated jointly by the state government, the Kempegowda Development Authority, and the BBMP. Siddaramaiah noted that during his previous term as Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018, his government had identified the exact date of Kempegowda's birth in consultation with Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, following which the state has been observing Kempegowda Jayanti annually. 'Kempegowda's 516th birth anniversary is being celebrated in collaboration with the government, Kempegowda Development Authority and BBMP. During 2013-18, our government discussed with Nirmala Nanda Swamiji and found out the date of birth, and since then, the government has been continuously celebrating Kempegowda Jayanti. If Bangalore is recognised internationally today, it was Kempegowda who laid the foundation for it,' he said. He added that the state government had taken significant steps to honour his legacy, and that Kempegowda's contributions remain a guiding example for governance and urban planning. 'The government has done the work of commemorating him. Kempegowda, who built towers in four parts of Bangalore, understood what Bangalore should be like and built many towns, including Nagaratpet, Chikkapet, and Balepet, during his administration based on his profession,' he added.

It is better to ignore his remarks," said on the sidelines of an event to mark the 516th birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, widely regarded as the founder of Bengaluru. "Where is there internal bickering?" Siddaramaiah said. "What can be done if you [reporters] write speculative reports? It's better to ignore it," the CM said. He refused to respond to a question on Rajanna's remark that there are several power centres in . On Rajanna's remark suggesting a "revolution in the govt" after Sept, Shivakumar said, "I am not aware of this. I will speak to him and let you know afterwards. In any case, you should ask him directly." Kempegowda memorial plan Shivakumar who also participated in various Kempegowda Jayanti programmes, announced plans for a grand memorial in honour of the Vijayanagar Empire chieftain and unveiled a slew of major infrastructure projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore for Bengaluru. Participating in celebrations at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan, Shivakumar laid the foundation for the new 'Kempegowda Bhavan' and presented the Kempegowda International Awards. "This is a very special occasion," he said. "We allotted five acres through the Kempegowda Development Authority. It is we [Congress govt] who began celebrating the jayanti and gave land. Now, we are laying the foundation stone for a grand building." Shivakumar outlined major civic upgrades, including 40km of tunnel roads (Rs 17,000 crore), 118km of flyovers, and 'Nambike Naksha' scheme, which will deliver 25lakh digitised property records to doorsteps. A 60,000-seat stadium is also planned, with 50 acres identified. He said the Cauvery 5th Stage project has been completed and work is underway on the 6th Stage. "A metro line will pass through Sumanahalli," he added. A Rs 100 crore Kempegowda Research Centre will come up at Bengaluru University, and the Kempegowda International Airport has been recognised with an award for preserving his legacy. "We must never forget the three 'Ks': Kempegowda, Kengal Hanumanthaiah, and SM Krishna. Bengaluru belongs to everyone," Shivakumar said. After garlanding Kempegowda's statue near Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah hailed him as a "far-sighted administrator" and credited him for laying the foundation of modern Bengaluru. He also recalled that during his 2013–2018 tenure, his govt, in consultation with Adichunchanagiri pontiff Nirmalanandanatha Swami, identified Kempegowda's birth date, leading to the annual celebration. "Since then, the govt has been continuously celebrating Kempegowda Jayanti. If Bengaluru is recognised internationally today, it was Kempegowda who laid the foundation for it," he said. Siddaramaiah said Kempegowda's planning continues to guide modern governance. "He built towers in four parts of Bengaluru and developed areas like Nagarathpet, Chikkpet, and Balepet based on his vision for the city," he said.

Mysuru/Mandya: Nadaprabhu Kempegowda is the reason Bengaluru enjoys global recognition today, said agriculture minister and Mandya district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy. He was speaking at the inauguration of the 516th Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations held at Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kalamandira in Mandya. The event was jointly organised by the district administration and the department of Kannada and culture. Cheluvarayaswamy emphasised that Kempegowda, with remarkable foresight, constructed lakes and temples in Bengaluru over 500 years ago. "His vision laid the foundation for the development of not just Bengaluru but the entire Old Mysuru region," he stated, while also crediting Mysuru Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar for his significant contributions. Highlighting the historical significance of the moment, the minister said, "In the last 100 years, the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir has never recorded such high-water levels in the month of June." The reservoir, he said, is currently supplying water to Mandya, Bengaluru, and the wider Old Mysuru region.
