Florida Beats Out In-State Rival for 4-Star DL

Florida Beats Out In-State Rival for 4-Star DL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After losing out on five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan to the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier in the day on Wednesday, the Florida Gators got some much-welcomed news a few hours later, as they landed a four-star defensive lineman. Advertisement Kendall Guervil, who is rated No. 9 among all class of 2026 recruits in the state of Florida and the 12th-best at his position in the country, per the Top 247 rankings, announced his commitment on Wednesday afternoon to head coach Billy Napier and UF through Rivals' Hayes Fawcett. Guervil was one of Florida's top targets in the 2026 class, as the Gators beat out both Florida State and Texas for the blue-chip's pledge. The 6-foot-5, 315-pound lineman from Fort Myers, Florida, becomes UF's eighth four-star commit in the 2026 class and the 15th overall. He is the second-highest rated commit in Florida's class, according to On3, coming in just behind cornerback CJ Bronaugh. Advertisement Guervil is also the third defensive lineman that has committed to Napier and the Gators in the class, with the other two being four-star JaReylan McCoy and three-star Jamir Perez. The Fort Myers High School star will join co-defensive coordinator Ron Roberts and defensive line coach Gerald Chapman in the trenches, a place where UF has flourished in recent years, and looks to be improving still. The Gators' defensive line ranks fourth in the nation for the position group in Pro Football Focus' 2025 preseason rankings. Napier is not done, however, as UF still has several targets set to announce where they will play their college ball in the coming days and weeks. Four-Star DL Tabs Florida in Top 3

Four-Star DL Tabs Florida in Top 3 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Gators have steadily been near the top of the 2026 recruiting rankings since the cycle began over a year ago. UF has 14 commits thus far in the class and is ranked No. 12 in 247Sports' team recruiting rankings. Advertisement Head coach Billy Napier isn't satisfied, however. He and the rest of Florida's staff are looking to load up their 2026 class before time runs out. One name UF is very high on right now is four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil. Guervil announced Friday through On3's Hayes Fawcett that he has narrowed down his recruitment to his top three schools, which includes Florida. 2026 defensive line recruit Kendall Guervil with Florida head coach Billy Napier247Sports Guervil is from Fort Myers, Florida, and has been a top target of Napier this summer. The 6-foot-4.5, 315-pound defensive lineman is the No. 9 recruit in the state of Florida and is ranked No. 12 at his position in the 2026 class, per 247Sports. Advertisement The other two schools Guervil included in his top three were Florida State and Texas. The Longhorns have seemed like the top team for Guervil, with two 247Sports writers logging crystal ball predictions for him to commit to Steve Sarkisian's squad. However, there is no reason to count the Gators out of the equation, as Guervil made a recent official visit to Florida on June 13. If UF is able to get a commitment from the Fort Myers High School star, it would be the third defensive line commit of Florida's 2026 class with the previous two being three-stars JaReylan McCoy and Jamir Perez. Napier and company are hoping Guervil chooses the Gators hat when he commits on July 2.
