Kenya's Economic Growth Shifts Lower as Tourism Sector Suffers
Kenya's first-quarter economic output slowed more than expected, weighed down by its tourism and manufacturing sector. Gross domestic product grew by 4.9% in the three months through March from a year earlier, compared with 5.1% in the previous quarter, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics said in a report on its website on Thursday. That lagged the the central bank's 5% forecast for the quarter.

Kenyan Inflation Holds Steady at 3.8% as Water, Power Costs Ease
Kenya's annual inflation rate flatlined in June helped by slower growth in utilities and housing prices. Consumer prices rose 3.8% from a year ago, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics said Monday in an emailed statement. That was slightly faster than the monetary policy committee's 3.7% projection.

Kenyan Inflation Remains Below 5% for Longest Run in 15 Years
Kenyan annual inflation remained below the 5% midpoint of the central bank's target range for a 12th straight month, the longest stretch since at least 2010, strengthening the case for another interest-rate cut. Consumer prices rose 3.8% in May, compared with 4.1% in April, the Nairobi-based Kenya National Bureau of Statistics said Friday in a statement. Core inflation accelerated to 2.8%, compared with 2.5% in April.
