Yiamas, on Bath Street has been a staple for Glasgow foodies and lovers of Greek food since 2012, but its owners have revealed it will close on July 27. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The Greek gem became a firm favourite in the city centre over the years Founded by the late Yiannis Bantouvakis, the Mediterranean gem became a firm favourite in the city centre over the years. After Yiannis died in 2016, his wife Linda and daughter Stascia picked up the apron and carried on his passion, dishing out tzatziki and tradition for 15 years. But now, after being a fixture in the city, the Bantouvakis women are ready for a new adventure. Co-owner Stascia Bantouvakis said: 'It's been an incredible 15 years, and we've met the most amazing people. 'Yiamas customers truly are the best, but it's time for us to move on. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for your support through the years. "We're not saying goodbye… just see you soon.' Gutted punters have flocked to social media after hearing the news. One said: "Aww I'm sorry to see this, your wee restaurant is my favourite. "Always a great meal and super friendly staff, where will I get my Keo now. "All the best for your next adventure." Another said: "Sad news when my favourite restaurant is closing but exciting times are ahead." A third added: "Favourite Greek restaurant in Glasgow. Sad to see this but looking forward to see what you have planned next." A fourth said: "So sorry to hear this, we love your restaurant and will be sad to see it go / wishing you lots of luck in your new venture." It comes after a Scottish restaurant run by a chef trained by Gordon Ramsay announced it is to close after 11 years, leaving punters gutted. Over the years, it moved premises and relocated to the Garden Room at the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel. It was founded by Michelin-starred chef Stuart Ralston, who worked under several top chefs. He trained under Gordon Ramsay and also worked with Jean-Georges in New York. But he has now revealed that his debut restaurant will call last orders for the final time later this year after serving punters for over a decade. It is set to close for good on September 21.
