Man dies after falling from Blencathra in the Lake District
A MAN has died after falling from Sharp Edge, Blencathra in the Lake District. Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called to an incident at 1:39pm on Saturday, July 5. A group of four people were on Sharp Edge when one of them fell to the north side of the ridge and could not be seen. Keswick MRT said: 'The team mobilised with assistance from Penrith MRT. Split into two groups, one team made their way to the casualty whilst the other went to assist the rest of the group off the ridge. Sadly, the man did not survive the fall. 'Many thanks to Coastguard R199 and Penrith MRT for their response and support. 'Our thoughts and condolences go to the man's friends and family.' The call out involved 19 Keswick team members and 11 Penrith team members. It took four hours and 21 minutes.

Mountain Rescue Teams help ill camper at Great Lingy Hill
VOLUNTEERS from two mountain rescue teams were called to action after a young man became ill at Great Lingy Hill. On Thursday, July 3, at 6:38am, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team received a call from the North West Ambulance Service. Two young men had been hiking the Cumbria Way and made it to the Lingy Hut to set up camp for the night. At around midnight, one of the men had become unwell and was vomiting regularly throughout the morning. (Image: Keswick MRT) Keswick MRT said: 'After requesting advice and assistance through NHS 111, the incident was transferred to the ambulance service who requested our help in getting the casualty off the mountain. 'Keswick team were low on numbers on this early morning callout and could only deploy one vehicle. For the second time this week, we made use of RAF MRT Lossiemouth, who were training locally.' Both teams ascended to the Lingy Hut from Carrock Mines to assess the casualty. They carried him down on a stretcher to an ambulance that was waiting. The rescue involved eight Keswick team members and seven RAF MRT Lossiemouth team members. It took three hours and 22 minutes. (Image: Keswick MRT)

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team help siblings stuck on Blencathra
KESWICK Mountain Rescue Team rescued two siblings who were stuck on Sharp Edge. The team were called out at 2:33 pm on Tuesday, July 1, to two people who were unable to descend from their position on Blencathra. In total, 19 Mountain Rescue Team members helped with the rescue. One vehicle with team members was deployed, and they were assisted by seven members of the Royal Air Force (RAF) Mountain Rescue Team Lossiemouth who were training in Keswick. Keswick MRT said: 'A safety line was rigged across the ridge and three team members assisted the crag fast brother and sister across to safety. 'They were then walked off to their car at Scales.' The rescue included 12 Keswick Mountain Rescue team members and 7 RAF Mountain Rescue Lossiemouth team members. It took 3 hours and 47 minutes.

Rescue after hiker was stuck on steep and rocky ground
KESWICK Mountain Rescue Team attended an incident involving a walker who found herself lost. An experienced female walker was descending from Kings How when she lost the path. She found herself stuck on steep and rocky ground between Bowder Crag and Kings How, which led her to request help. The team was called out at 3:59pm on June 28. In a Facebook post, Keswick MRT said: " The team bashed their way through the dense bracken, set up a rope rescue system and brought the walker up to safer ground. She was accompanied down to the valley to meet her partner–involving some more bracken wading." The incident took three hours, one minute to resolve, and was only attended by Keswick MRT

Mountain rescue team called out to help injured woman in the Lake District
A MOUNTAIN rescue team was called out after a woman injured her ankle whilst descending High Spy. The 25-year-old woman was with four friends when she twisted her ankle. Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out to assist. In a post on social media, Keswick MRT said: "A party of four friends were descending from High Spy via Rigghead quarries where one member of the party, a 25-year-old female, went over on her ankle, hearing/feeling a 'snap'. "Despite resting for some time and trying multiple times to stand, the casualty remained unable to bear weight on her ankle, so the group reluctantly called for a rescue. "On arrival, the team assessed, splinted the ankle, and gave some pain relief before stretchering the woman down to Rosthwaite, where her friends took her to the hospital for an X-ray."
