NFL Draft Summer Scouting Report: Kevin Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M

Summer is here, and it is everyone's favorite time of the year, scouting time. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Vikings fans, but also give them an idea of names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Minnesota. Are we going to write about quarterbacks? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Vikings, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so Vikings fans can be the most informed fans. So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall. Player Information Player: Kevin Concepcion School: Texas A&M Height/Weight: 5-11/187 lbs. Player Background - 4-Star Recruit - ACC Rookie of the Year in 2023 - Second-Team All-ACC in 2023 - Transferred from NC State to Texas A&M Career Stats Heading into the 2025 Season - 124 Receptions - 1,299 Receiving Yards - 10.5 Yards Per Reception - 16 Touchdowns Notable PFF Numbers Heading into the 2025 Season - 69.4 PFF Receiving Grade - 6.3 Yards After Contact Per Reception - 1.81 Yards Per Route Run - Average Depth of Target of 7.8 Yards - 7 Contested Catches Player Traits - Quick, decisive cuts in his routes - Good body control during routes and attacking the ball - Separates well due to his footwork and burst at the line - Can be used in a variety of ways (manufacture touches) - Excellent YAC ability due to speed and vision Player Summary Kevin Concepcion is one of the more dynamic playmaking wide receivers in college football in 2025. He has some issues to address in his game, namely his hands and lack of ball control, which are major concerns, but the playmaking outshines those moments. I really enjoy watching him run routes and use his body control to work defenders with and without the ball in his hands. Concepcion really thrives using his speed to pick up extra yards and take advantage of every touch he gets, as NC State tended to manufacture touches for him often. Going to Texas A&M, it will be interesting to see how they use him as he has the making of a dynamic playmaker, but their offense may make him a better pro in the end than a college player.

3 Texas A&M Aggies Named To Athlon Preseason All-America Team

3 Texas A&M Aggies Named To Athlon Preseason All-America Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As we inch closer to the 2025 college football season, we've reached the time of year for preseason award lists. Athlon has officially released our College Football 2025 All-America Team, and Texas A&M football found themselves with three players named to the team. Advertisement The top-rated Texas A&M player on the All-America list is junior Aggies linebacker Taurean York, who made an appearance on the First-Team Defense. York started all 26 games for Texas A&M during his freshman and sophomore seasons. In 2024, York recorded 82 tackles (9 TFL), five pass deflections, and 2.5 sacks. Taurean York (21) celebrates with his Texas A&M football Lysaker-Imagn Images Joining York on the list are redshirt senior offensive lineman Ar'maj Reed-Adams and junior wide receiver Kevin "KC" Concepcion. Adams, who was listed as a lineman on the Second-Team Offense, started all 13 games for the Aggies last fall and helped anchor the 25th-best rushing attack at the FBS level last season. He joined Texas A&M in 2024 after a four-season stint with the Kansas Jayhawks. Both York and Reed-Adams were both also named Walter Camp Preseason All-Americans earlier this week. Concepcion, who was named to the Fourth-Team Offense, transferred into College Station this offseason after beginning his career in the ACC with North Carolina State. During his first two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion hauled in 124 receptions for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns and also added 60 carries for 356 yards and two touchdowns. A highly-touted transfer portal addition, Concepcion has racked up $2.5 million in NIL deals to bring his talents to College Station. Experts Say Texas A&M's Kevin Concepcion Primed for Breakout Season

Experts Say Texas A&M's Kevin Concepcion Primed for Breakout Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas A&M football squad averaged just over 30 points and just under 400 offensive yards per game in 2024. Advertisement Experts say the Aggies could be even more explosive in 2025 — for a number of reasons: It will be head coach Mike Elko's second season on the sidelines after coming over from Duke after 2023. It will be quarterback Marcel Reed's second full season behind an offensive line returning all five starters. 2024 leading receiver Noah Thomas is returning after 39 catches for 574 yards and eight touchdowns. Leading rusher Le'Veon Moss returns after going for 10 touchdowns and 906 yards from scrimmage. These are important factors. However, the rocket fuel in the Aggies' 2025 attack is likely to come from three Top-50 pass catchers the program gained in the offseason transfer portal. These include Mario Craver and Micah Hudson, from Mississippi State and Texas Tech, respectively, and high NFL draft prospect Kevin Concepcion. North Carolina State Wolfpack wide receiver Kevin Concepcion (10) transferred to Texas A&M for Yamashita-Imagn Images A transfer from NC State, Concepcion is ranked solidly in the top 10 among all NCAA receivers. ESPN has him at No.10. NFL Draft Buzz pinned him at No. 9. And On3 listed the former Wolfback snagger as the third-best receiver in the 2024 transfer portal. Advertisement On June 12, Pro Football Focus — better known as — listed Concepcion as one of its 10 Impact Transfer Portal Players to Know. Yes, that's a mouthful. Nevertheless, Aggies nation should be pumped about Concepcion's upside. Concepcion was the 2023 ACC Rookie of the Year, and earned second-team All-ACC honors as a true freshman. That year, he also broke the NC State freshman record with 71 catches, 839 yards, and 10 TDs. On June 4, Elko talked to reporters about Concepcion at a Houston Coach's night. He had coached against 'KC' in 2023, when his Duke team smothered NC State 24-3. The freshman wideout still had 99 total yards that night, on six catches and four rushing attempts. 'I played against (Concepcion) his freshman year at Duke,' Elko said. 'He has been a really mature kid. He has that captain make-up.' Advertisement He's also a breakaway bandit. noted in its June 12 article that, since 2023, Concepcion is second in YAC (yards-after-catch) with 792, and is 14th in receiving touchdowns, with 16. That's not all. The versatile Concepcion ranks third among all returning wideouts in rushing yards with 357. He's a vial of nitroglycerin in an offensive room stacked with dynamite.
