Florida baseball falls just short in final USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll top 25 of 2025

The 2025 college baseball campaign is officially in the books following the completion of the College World Series on Sunday, in which the LSU Tigers prevailed over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in two games. Following the official end of the season, the final edition of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll was released, with those two teams at the top of the rankings in their respective spots. But one may ask, "Where did the Florida Gators finish?" Just to recap, Kevin O'Sullivan's squad, which endured a rollercoaster ride of both success and futility this past spring, finished the campaign with a 39-22 overall record and an even 15-15 mark in Southeastern Conference play. They made it just two games deep into the SEC Tournament, getting knocked out by the Ole Miss Rebels in the second round before losing two of three — both to the East Carolina Pirates — in the Conway Regional, marking the end of this year's run. As a result, the Orange and Blue finished just outside of the Coaches Poll top 25 with a de facto No. 26 ranking thanks to 85 votes. The conference had eight member schools among the top 25 and four others, including Florida, that earned votes. Take a look at the full final rankings below. The Athletic predicts Florida baseball's Conway Regional outcome

The Athletic predicts Florida baseball's Conway Regional outcome Florida baseball opens up its endeavor to earn the 2025 College World Series title on Friday as the second seed in the Conway Regional following a season that saw some significant ups and downs en route to a postseason bid. The Gators opened up the spring with 11 straight wins before back-to-back losses to the Miami Hurricanes and UCF Knights, respectively, in non-conference play. Kevin O'Sullivan's team would win the next five games, but everything changed once the Southeastern Conference schedule began. The first dozen games of the SEC slate left the Orange and Blue black and blue, struggling to a 1-11 start against fellow conference foes. However, following a home sweep at the hands of the Vanderbilt Commodores, Florida took the rubber match in the season series against the Florida State Seminoles to start an epic run to end the season. It is worth noting that the team's late-season surge began immediately after the men's basketball team earned its third-ever national championship. Alas, that final push ended short after the Gators lost to the Ole Miss Rebels in the second round of the SEC Tournament, eliminating any chance of hosting a regional. The good news is that O'Sullivan's squad is favored to emerge from the opening bracket — at least The Athletic's Mitch Light feels this way in his college baseball NCAA regional predictions. Take a look below at his breakdown of Florida's regional bracket. Conway Regional Coastal Carolina (13) Florida East Carolina Fairfield "Coastal Carolina is second nationally in ERA (3.29) and third in WHIP (1.19) and OPS against (.648). The Chanticleers are hosting a Regional for the fifth time in program history," Light begins. "For the first time in Kevin O'Sullivan's 18 seasons at Florida, the Gators are not hosting a Regional for the second consecutive season. Florida was a No. 3 seed in the Stillwater Regional last year and advanced to the College World Series," he continues. "East Carolina went 13-14 in the American Athletic Conference, only the fourth time this century the Pirates have had a losing record in league play. But Cliff Godwin's club is back in a Regional, for the seventh consecutive season, after winning the AAC tournament title," Light notes. "Fairfield is 108-23 in the MAAC over the last five years with two Regional appearances. The Stags went 2-2 as a No. 3 seed in the Austin Regional in 2021." Florida prevails over South Carolina, advances in SEC Baseball Tournament

Florida prevails over South Carolina, advances in SEC Baseball Tournament The 10th-seeded Florida Gators defeated the 15th-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks in the first round of the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament on Tuesday evening, 11-3. Florida trailed 1-0 after the first inning but a three-run second inning rally turned the tables on South Carolina, resulting in four straight frames with a runner crossing the plate while the 'Cocks laid gooseeggs on the scoreboard until the eighth. Kevin O'Sullivan's team responded to the late push by their opponent by plating four more runners, leading to the eventual final score. The Orange and Blue left USC's pitching staff black and blue with its offensive assault, seeing seven players get at least one hit while five notched multiple-hit games. Most notable from that pack was designated hitter Ty Evans, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a pair of doubles. Shortstop Bobby Boser brought the boom with a three-run dinger as one of his two hits in four at-bats, which included a walk as well. Aside from Evans and Boser, Florida's multi-hit performances also came from first baseman Brendan Lawson (2-for-5, 2 RBI), catcher Brody Donay (2-for-4, HR, BB) and right fielder Hayden Yost (2-for-4, 2B, HR, BB). Starting pitcher Billy Barlow got into some trouble in the opening frame but rebounded to throw 3 2/3 innings, allowing just an early run on four hits and three walks while striking out two. Blaine Rowland relieved him and gave another 3 2/3, surrendering a pair of runs on six hits — but no walks — and two Ks. Christian Rodriguez tossed the final 1 2/3 frames, keeping the 'Cocks scoreless on just a hit and no walks while striking out two. By the time he came in, the save opportunity was long gone. Next up for Florida baseball The Gators will take on the 7th-seeded Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday, May 21, at 9 p.m. ET inside Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama, for the second round of the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament. Note that the time has been pushed back to accommodate postponements due to inclement weather. The game will once again be broadcast on the SEC Network and heard on ESPN 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.
