BET Awards open with explosive 2000s performances — and the surprise return of these iconic hosts

The BET Awards' 25th Anniversary opened in spectacular fashion, honoring the golden era of 2000s music with a star-studded lineup of performances. The 25th anniversary of the BET Awards opened with a nostalgic and electrifying celebration, paying homage to the golden era of 2000s music. This year's ceremony, centered around Black excellence and legacy, wasted no time delivering an unforgettable showcase, launching with ten powerhouse performances from some of the most celebrated artists of the decade. The night kicked off with high-energy hits, including Keyshia Cole's 'I Should Have Cheated,' Amerie's '1 Thing,' and Mýa's 'Case of the Ex.' Rap legend T.I. followed with an explosive two-song set, performing 'Bring Em Out' and 'What You Know.' Presented as a countdown by the iconic 106 & Park hosts, the star-studded opener continued with performances from Ashanti, Jim Jones, B2K, and more—each artist bringing their signature sound and style to the stage. 106 & Park, which aired on BET from 2000 to 2014, became a cultural phenomenon and a daily staple for Black youth. More than just a music video countdown show, it was a platform where hip-hop and R&B artists connected directly with fans through interviews, live performances, and moments that shaped the culture. The tribute brought back some of the show's most memorable hosts, including the iconic Free, Terrence J, Julissa Bermudez, Rocsi Diaz, and Keshia Chanté. While A.J. Calloway, Free's original co-host, couldn't make it, the energy and nostalgia of the reunion still lit up the stage. The countdown concluded with none other than Bow Wow—a former 106 & Park host himself—closing the sequence with his beloved hit 'Like You.' Later in the evening, the celebration of Black excellence and cultural legacy will continue with a prestigious moment: the Ultimate Icon Award. This highly anticipated honor will recognize Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and Kirk Franklin for their groundbreaking contributions to music and entertainment, celebrating their lasting impact on the industry. Keyshia Cole Apologizes After Mistakingly Sharing Ashanti Is Pregnant Again

Keyshia Cole found herself in the middle of a baby rumor mix-up this week, to which she has offered a sincere apology after mistakenly announcing that Ashanti and Nelly were expecting again. The 'Love' singer recently appeared on The Breakfast Club, where during a moment of celebrating her fellow R&B sister, she blurted out that Ashanti was allegedly pregnant with her second child. 'Shout-out to Ashanti, because I mean, she's amazing. She got a baby, she's pregnant again …' she said with full confidence and no hesitation. Ashanti nor Nelly have actually confirmed if they are expecting baby number two. That announcement was met with a waves of both backlash and curiosity across social media. The Breakfast Club co-host Loren LoRosa immediately questioned whether Cole was speaking from fact or simply echoing rumors, while Jess Hilarious and Charlamagne Tha God appeared more inclined to believe her. But as Cole's confidence visibly faded, it quickly became clear that the 43-year-old had shared information likely fueled by speculation rather than confirmation. 'She was being sincere. We really live in an eggshell society, whew! Hopefully this shouldn't cause a rift between both artists, love their music!' one fan commented underneath Hollywood Unlocked's repost of the interview. Another added, 'I doubt if Ashanti even cares. She's somewhere on cloud 9 living her best life lol.' In response to all of the online commentary, Cole slid into the comments herself with an apology about the spill. 'My apologies… I shouldn't have said that. I thought she announced it. If that isn't true then I apologize,' To be fair, Ashanti has been open about wanting to expand her family with Nelly. Back in March, she told E! News that they're planning to add more little ones to their crew — and this time, she's hoping for a baby girl to balance out the boys. 'We're going to add some more,' she said, teasing that if she had to choose their baby's sex, she wouldn't mind a mini-me. 'Definitely a girl to balance it out. I'm outnumbered in the house right now. So, a girl would be great.' Live from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, the Memphis rap star kicked off her performance with tap-dance choreography and a crisp white tuxedo. Joined by backup dancers, GloRilla stole the spotlight with 'Let Her Cook' from her debut album. As the vintage-glam inspired set continued, the 25-year-old brought out Keyshia Cole for the performance debut of their collaboration 'Typa.' The chart-topper draped herself in a white fur coat and sat at a grand piano to introduce the veteran R&B singer. Adorned in a crystal bodysuit and grand white feathers, the 43-year-old sat poised on the piano before singing her 2005 classic 'Love,' which is sampled in 'Typa.' The trending track initially made rounds on TikTok before its official release last week. Keyshia Cole also joined GloRilla in the music video for the track, which stars NFL star Xavier Legette. The Carolina Panthers' wide receiver plays the perfect love interest for Big Glo as she runs down all of the qualifications. 'So Keyshia, have you ever been with somebody that make you wanna be a better version of yourself, but you scared to show them the worst parts of yourself?' GloRilla asks in the creative visual. NFL player and rapper spark dating rumors by starring in racy music video

NFL star Xavier Legette and famous rapper GloRilla have sparked massive dating rumors after the Carolina Panther wide receiver starred in her racy music video. GloRilla's latest music video for the song 'Typa' dropped on Friday morning, with Legette getting very close with his on-camera partner. How comfortable the duo looked on screen have made the pair appear to be an item, including a scene in a bedroom where GloRilla is in a white bra and Legette enters shirtless and in a towel. Legette, 24, has not been connected with anyone romantically since entering the NFL last year as a first-round draft pick. Grammy-nominated GloRilla has kept her private life hush until now, with a high-profile non-actor playing a love interest. Furthering the rumor of the Panther and 'Tomorrow' performer was a cameo from R&B legend Keyshia Cole, who has a conversation with GloRilla in the middle of the video. Cole's 2025 hit 'Love' is sampled in 'Typa', with the songs being similar thematically about finding the right person to share your life with. That massive hint to a Legette-GloRilla romance also sees the pair hanging out not in the bedroom in the music video as well. Neither has yet to address the dating rumors since the music video dropped. Yet, creating buzz for the 25-year-old GloRilla's song, may be the couple chose to hard-launch their relationship. Legette has a productive rookie season for the Panthers with 497 receiving yards and four touchdowns despite Carolina struggling for most of the year. Last month, Legette made an appearance at the Kentucky Derby, where his body transformation shocked fans.
