'I see a disaster' – Khanye predicts tough start for Kaizer Chiefs

Retired South African footballer Junior Khanye has predicted that Kaizer Chiefs will struggle in their opening five Betway Premiership fixtures. The 40-year-old football analyst has questioned Amakhosi's new signings, saying the team will not improve this coming season. The Glamour Boys spent three weeks in the Netherlands for their pre-season tour, where they played several Dutch teams. Speaking on iDiski TV , the former Kaizer Chiefs winger predicted his old team to fumble in their opening five matches. In August, Amakhosi play Stellenbosch, Polokwane City, Richards Bay, Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows. 'This pre-season is very crucial for Kaizer Chiefs. In the five games they played, they won once and lost four times. [I'm concerned about] how they play, let alone the results. For me, I see a disaster; I need to be honest,' Khanye said. 'For me, it feels Chiefs are doing the same thing they have been doing for the past 10 years. They are signing players who play in lower leagues like Zimbabwe and Zambia. Even this guy they signed, who wears the number 10 jersey, played for the third division (in England).' The former South African U/20 winger also questioned the abilities of new striker Flavio Silva. 'If you check this new striker they bought called Flavio, and it's not that he is not scoring, his understanding of the game is questionable. In the five games, I feel Kaizer Chiefs will win one, draw another and lose three. The reason I'm saying this is that they missed out on the top 8,' Khanye said. Former Orlando Pirates attacker is clubless

The 30-year-old joined Sekhukhune at the beginning of last season after leaving Orlando Pirates, hoping for a fresh start and regular game time. Unfortunately, Kapinga struggled to establish himself at Babina Noko, leading to a mutual decision not to renew his contract. The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns made just 13 appearances across all competitions during his brief spell with Sekhukhune. He featured in 11 league matches, one Nedbank Cup fixture, and one Carling Knockout Cup clash. His only goal came in a 3-1 defeat to TS Galaxy. Kaizer Chiefs questioned by Khanye, again Lesedi Kapinga warms up at the Orlando Stadium before he left the club to join Sekhukhune United. Image: BackpagePix With limited opportunities and increased competition in midfield, the club and player have now gone their separate ways. Orlando Pirates star returns to his father 'They struggled to find consistent playing time this season, and both parties agreed a new direction was best for his career,' said a club insider. 'Sekhukhune United wish Lesedi all the best as he pursues fresh opportunities ahead of the new season. Kaizer Chiefs questioned by Khanye, again

Kaizer Chiefs have left fans puzzled. Six new signings have been made so far, excluding Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman, yet there's no new goalkeeper in sight. Despite entering preseason with uncertainty between the posts, the club focused their recruitment efforts elsewhere, intensifying speculation about their long-term keeper strategy. Kaizer Chiefs' decision has raised questions from the club's hyper critic and former player Junior Khanye, who believes Amakhosi are overlooking a vital area. Khanye's central question points at Kaizer Chiefs' decision to retain their existing goalkeepers instead of bringing in new competition, a choice many see as risky in a demanding season ahead. I am surprised that Kaizer Chiefs didn't look at the goalkeeping department properly,' Khanye said via iDiski Times . Orlando Pirates promote the next Mofokeng 'With the season ahead and the amount of games you're going to play now, there's no hpointment. You really need competition, you really need those guys to compete with someone else. 'I just think those two keepers are going to be under pressure. They've been playing week-in and week-out. Maybe they rested…but someone else has got to push them. The former Kaizer Chiefs winger added: 'The Nedbank Cup and MTN8 cup competitions, then your league games, your continental games, those guys are going to be fatigue[d] or maybe injured at some stage during the season. 'Kaizer Chiefs have to go out there and get a keeper. I'm not saying they must go big money and get someone who is world class. But they must bring someone who can come in, maybe start in certain games. 'They must start bringing competition to the squad… They also need to get a guy that can come in, maybe rotate those games,' Khanye concluded. In the meantime, the club's Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari is set to leave Amakhosi after he did not travel to the Netherlands for the club's pre-season camp. 'They don't have a goalkeeper' – Khanye questions Chiefs' transfer priorities

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has questioned Amakhosi's decision not to sign more goalkeepers. At the moment, the Glamour Boys don't have a number one keeper and in the last 12 months, they have been switching from Fiacre Ntwari, Brandon Petersen, to Bruce Bvuma. During the current pre-season, Chiefs have signed six in-field players. Khanye though, feels his former team need to bring in a quality goalkeeper and a back-up. He feels that the three keepers at the club are not good enough. Amakhosi had three goalkeepers last season and they all got a chance to play but conceded 32 goals in the league. 'They should be signing in the important position, a goalkeeper,' the former winger told iDiski Times. 'A very important position, they were supposed to sign a goalkeeper. I see all the signings and Nabi is he okay having a pre-season with Kaizer Chiefs thinking his problem is wing-backs? It's a question that's why I'm asking,' Khanye added. 'The goalkeeper position, the guy just overlooked that and signed wing-backs. It's a question I'm asking myself. So it means he attacks with wing-backs? That he realised that his problem is at wing-back that he needs one at right and left but he doesn't have a goalkeeper. 'Chiefs have signed but they still haven't signed a goalkeeper not even a back-up because you don't need one goalkeeper, you also need a back-up. They have a crisis in that department. They don't have two goalkeepers. In a position that's so important, they don't have a goalkeeper.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. 'Appollis might not start for Orlando Pirates' – Ex-Chiefs winger

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye feels Orlando Pirates have made a good decision by signing Oswin Appollis. The 23-year-old forward was linked to rivals Kaizer Chiefs; however, it came as a surprise when the Bafana Bafana star joined the Buccaneers from Polokwane City. Khanye said that although Appollis was a great signing for Pirates, he was not a guaranteed starter given the talent in the team. 'A very good signing for Orlando Pirates,' he told iDiski Times. 'Well done to the guy for restoring himself after being released by SuperSport's development side. By restoring, I mean the guy started afresh again, was psychologically strong, and even relocated from Cape Town to Polokwane. 'That can't be easy, and without your parents, without your family to start afresh,' Khanye added. 'The guy has done well for himself and even got into the Bafana Bafana squad, scoring crucial goals for Bafana in World Cup qualifying games and being a regular in Hugo Broos' Bafana-Bafana team. 'So well done, I need to be honest, but when I say good signing, I'm not saying he is going to start at Orlando Pirates,' Khanye concluded. Appollis is part of the Orlando Pirates team currently in Spain for pre-season training. He is expected to get a run when the Buccaneers play several friendly matches in the coming days.
