One that got away? Khaya Mthethwa on 'losing great people'

Former Idols South Africa winner turned preacher Khaya Mthethwa has spoken about losing 'great people' as well as his 'painful' divorce from ex-wife, Ntando Kunene. The former Miss South Africa has reportedly married again this weekend. She is also expecting a baby from her current, unidentified partner. In 2019, Khaya and Ntando split after less than two years of marriage. Before dating the beauty queen, Khaya reportedly dated actresses Jessica Nkosi and Nomzamo Mbatha, at the same time! Unlike his ex, Ntando Kunene, Khaya Mthethwa has made it clear he has no intention to marry again. The former Idols SA singer, who is now a preacher at the Oasis Church in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, told the congregation in a clip that has gone viral: 'The marriage train has left. I've lost too many great people. Now I'm attracting rubbish'. Since his split from Ntando, Khaya was rumoured to have dated Instagram influencers, Mathapelo Khoza and Siphosethu Nkosi, in recent months. Speaking in an interview in May, Khaya Mthethwa touched on his bitter divorce from Ntando Kunene. He told Podcast, Radio & Stuff: 'I think that it is the most painful thing I have ever gone through in my life. I don't wish divorce on anyone. In fact, I will never divorce again. In December 2017, Khaya Mthethwa married former Miss SA Ntando Kunene. At the time, the couple had dated for just three months. Two years later, the couple – who welcomed a son, Oyinkosi – announced their shock split in a vague statement. According to Khaya, the new marriage was fraught with 'challenges' that the couple could not overcome. While neither Ntando nor Khaya has ever mentioned those challenges, the latter has been accused of being unfaithful in the past. Last year, a clip of Khaya Mthethwa claiming he 'told God' he 'knew' he didn't want to be married, just a few months after his wedding, went viral. The clip was allegedly taken from Khaya's sermon at the Assemblies of God Church in Sandton. He said in the clip: 'When I said to God, I don't think I want to be married anymore. I told God that in January. I'm like, 'I think'. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 . Khaya Mthethwa reflects on healing and love after divorce

Singer and songwriter, Khaya Mthethwa, opens about his journey through divorce and his path to healing. Image: Instagram In a poignant podcast interview on the "Podcast, Radio & Stuff" platform, renowned singer-songwriter and radio presenter Khaya Mthethwa candidly discussed his tumultuous journey as a divorcee, revealing the profound impact the experience had on him. "I think that it is the most painful thing I have ever gone through in my life. I don't wish divorce on anyone. "In actual fact, I will never divorce again," he shared, highlighting the emotional turmoil that accompanied the end of his marriage. Mthethwa's relationship with former Miss South Africa Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, began with a celebratory union in 2017 that was tragically cut short by their divorce in 2019. Rumours of infidelity swirled around the couple, but Mthethwa staunchly refuted those allegations, revealing the depths of questioning and self-reflection he endured during and after the split. 'I cannot describe to you how you question everything. How you have to rebuild yourself, rebuild your confidence, rebuild your perspective on love, and rebuild your perspective on family and children, etc.,' he expressed, demonstrating the immense weight that the dissolution of his marriage carried. Despite the heartache, the artist believes he has emerged from the experience stronger and has embarked on a significant journey of healing. Video Player is loading. I'm a black man who goes to therapy. I do it, and I'm proud of it,' he revealed, breaking down societal barriers and norms surrounding mental health for men in South Africa. Mthethwa is clear about his aspirations, as he expressed a desire to find love again and to settle down once more. 'I don't want to grow old alone. I'm not interested in being single and being in the streets. I have zero aspirations for those things. I think singleness is overrated,' he said. His reflections on family life and marriage challenge the negative narratives often presented in society about divorce.
