Mumbai's Riders launch a year-long ‘Mahakumbh' fitness challenge

Mulund Riders launched Mahakumbh, an 11-month fitness initiative, fostering healthy habits through monthly challenges among 260+ participants in four teams. This trust-based program encourages activities like running, cycling, and swimming, tracked monthly. The first team event on July 20, 2025, saw 168 participants exceeding targets In a powerful blend of fitness, fun, and community spirit, Mulund Riders have rolled out Mahakumbh, an ambitious 11-month group fitness initiative designed to promote consistent healthy habits through engaging monthly challenges. With over 260 participants and four competing teams, the journey kicked off on April 1, 2025, and will culminate in the much-anticipated Khel Mahotsav II in February 2026. What sets Mahakumbh apart is its unique trust-based, volunteer-free format—an innovation that encourages self-discipline and camaraderie without the need for constant oversight. Participants earn points for their teams through individual activities like running, walking, cycling, and swimming, which are tracked monthly. While group participation isn't typically required, team captains and two dedicated mentors per team provide encouragement and coordination. This structure makes staying active exciting and meaningful.' Designed to ease stress and inspire wellness, Mahakumbh emphasizes flexibility—most activities can be completed anywhere, with physical presence in Mulund required only during select events like the finale, Khel Mahotsav. As the challenge continues, these riders are setting a high benchmark for community-driven fitness, proving that with trust, structure, and shared goals, movement truly becomes a celebration.

Kanpur: Unseeded Devang Tomar and Divyanshi Gautam clinched the boys' and girls' singles titles respectively in the Yonex Sunrise UP state junior badminton championship that concluded at the Multipurpose Hall of the Green Park Stadium on Sunday. The Moradabad player Devang created a major upset in the semi-finals, defeating top seed Sumit Tiwari 21-14, 17-21, 21-14 in one of the most closely contested matches of the tournament. Both players engaged in long rallies, smashes, cross-court shots and drops, but luck appeared to favour Devang as he secured a place in the final. In the final, Devang emerged victorious against Prakhar Tiwari of Prayagraj in straight games, 21-10, 21-16. In the girls' singles, top seed Divyanshi Gautam comfortably defeated Rudrakshi Rana of Meerut 21-09, 21-14. Her combination of cross-court placings and drops proved too much for her opponent.
