Kia Middle East releases five-part docu-series to launch its Kia Tasman

Kia Middle East and Africa has released a cinematic, road trip docu-series titled Tribes of Arabia, to mark the regional launch of the Kia Tasman. The five-part docu-series merges cultural discovery with automotive adventure in an effort to showcase the rugged performance, cutting-edge technology, and bold design of Kia's first-ever mid-size pickup truck. From the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah to the historic lands of Basra, Iraq, passing through Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Tribes of Arabia takes viewers off the beaten path to connect with the region's most enduring communities: its tribes. Through first-hand encounters, the series explores their traditions, rituals, and way of life, highlighting a rich cultural heritage shaped by both history and modernity. 'Tribes of Arabia is a first-of-its-kind cultural project, not just for Kia, but for the entire automotive industry in our region.' said Jimmy Chamata, Head of Marketing at Kia Middle East and Africa. Spanning vast deserts, towering mountains, and remote villages, the series follows three main characters, including automotive influencers and content creators Eisa Alhabib, Abdulaziz Alfudhaili, and Hamed AlDaour as they engage with each tribe, uncovering their unique stories, craftsmanship, and deep-rooted ties to the land. Each episode offers an intimate look at a different tribe and the legacy they continue to uphold. 'We're telling a story that's deeply rooted in culture, resilience, and identity, and we are proud to authentically capture the rich tribal spirit of the Arabian Peninsula. At the heart of this journey is the Kia Tasman, our boldest statement yet,' Chamata said on the docu-series. 'More than just an ordinary pickup, the Tasman represents a new kind of mobility: one that moves effortlessly between work and adventure, modernity and heritage, challenge and comfort. It's designed for those who live life to the fullest.' Tribes of Arabia follows the Kia Tasman across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq to connect with five remarkable tribes and their living legacies. 'With its advanced safety features, smart technology, bold design and power that you can rely on, the Tasman is creating a new culture around what a pickup can be. And Tribes of Arabia is the perfect stage to introduce that vision to the region, and the world,' Chamata said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kia Middle East & Africa (@kia_mea) In a journey across the Middle East, the Tasman can be seen tackling mountains, cities, deserts and wetlands—meeting tribes from the Shihuh to the Marsh Arabs. From rocky trails to urban roads and muddy marshes, each terrain highlighted the Tasman's capability, switching seamlessly between Rock, Urban, Desert and Mud driving modes. The docu-series was crafted to capture the multi-dimensional nature of the Kia Tasman, which is designed for both work and adventure to push boundaries on weekdays while escaping them on the weekends. The campaign was brought to life by Innocean MEA in collaboration with McCann Content Studios and directed by Neel Kumar.

Seeds of change: Phase two of Kia's ‘Cycle of Life'

Kia Middle East & Africa, in collaboration with INNOCEAN MEA and production house electriclime°, has unveiled the second phase of its purpose-driven 'Cycle of Life' initiative. Titled Seeds of Change, the campaign continues to merge brand purpose with on-the-ground impact – focusing this time on biofabrication, youth education, and circular design. While the first chapter of Cycle of Life explored farm-to-table narratives, this new edition shifts to a farm-to-fabric focus. Directed by Kaley Emerson, Seeds of Change was rolled out as a short film series that was released across digital channels including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. The campaign introduces biofabrication to young Zambians through the transformation of agricultural waste – specifically banana stems – into usable materials. In collaboration with The Waste Lab, co-founded by Ceylan Uren and Lara Hussein, and the African Education Programme, co-founded by Julie-Anne Savarit-Cosenza, the film follows the youth through their hands-on training in turning agricultural waste into usable materials. While the campaign's core message is delivered through film, its broader impact is tied to practical education and real-world implementation. Kia's use of nature-derived materials in its vehicle interiors – such as plant-based textiles and natural dyes demonstrates how circular design and bio-fabrication can inspire both product innovation and real-world community impact A key challenge — and achievement — of the production was ensuring sustainability across all phases. electriclime° adopted a range of eco-conscious practices throughout filming. From optimising travel logistics and limiting crew size to using local teams and reducing material waste, the production aimed to minimise its environmental footprint. A carbon estimate calculated using the AdGreen calculator initially projected emissions at 44.87 tCO2e. The team was able to reduce this to 41.42 tCO2e. While still notable, the savings of over 3 tonnes marked a meaningful step forward in reducing environmental impact. Other on-set efforts included recycling, composting food waste, sourcing ethically donated wardrobe pieces, and avoiding unnecessary set materials. The team also worked closely with local partners to ensure efficiency and relevance. This campaign is just the beginning. Over the next six months, Kia is building a program to transform the Kia Garden in Kafue, Zambia, into a fully productive farm. Looking ahead, Kia plans to transform the Kia Garden in Kafue into a fully operational farm within the next six months. The site will serve as a hub for education in farming and biofabrication, empowering the local youth and promoting self-sufficiency through sustainable practices. Through 'Seeds of Change', Kia aims to drive progress through education and empowerment. This campaign reinforces the thought that true change comes from ongoing momentum and collective action. Auto Buzz: A sneak peek into the exciting motoring moments and events in the UAE

In the automotive realm, there seems to be a gradual but definitive shift of influence and market dominance from the West to the East. Here are some of the highlights from the past week that affirm this notion: EXEED introduces new energy vehicles to the region The Chinese marque EXEED unveiled its EV and hybrid line-up at Skydive Dubai on April 9. The fully electric EXLANTIX ET SUV and EXLANTIX ES sedan feature Super Hybrid REEV technology, offering over 1,000 km of range. Both models are also said to prioritise safety with 5-star C-NCAP ratings and advanced driver assistance systems. The EXLANTIX ET SUV offers both pure electric and range-extended powertrain options, featuring EXEED's pioneering Golden Range Extender Technology to help eliminate charging anxiety. The new SUV features an adaptive air suspension system, which is said to deliver a smooth ride, boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.266 Cd, and is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Passengers also benefit from an intelligent cockpit, zero-gravity seats, and Arabic voice command capabilities. The striking EXEED EXLANTIX ES — the first-ever sedan from the brand — presents an elegantly sporty, avant-garde design, blending aerodynamics with artistry, with a remarkable 0.205 Cd drag coefficient. The car features sporty frameless doors, a D-shaped steering wheel, and racing-inspired handling. It is also claimed to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in a supercar-like 3.7 seconds. EXEED also introduced the RX Plug-in Hybrid SUV. Powered by the Super Hybrid REEV System, it delivers a total range of over 1,300km and achieves real-world fuel efficiency as low as 1.2L/100km on a full charge. The model is equipped with a Three-Speed Super Hybrid Transmission, generating 445 kW of power through 11 gear combinations. Safety is reinforced by a high-performance CATL battery, enhanced with EXEED's M3P material system, which delivers real-time diagnostics and can cut power within just 2 milliseconds in the event of a collision. Designed for extreme conditions, it is also said to operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -35°C to 60°C — ideal for the UAE. All-new Kia Tasman enters the pickup truck segment in the UAE Kia Middle East & Africa unveiled the all-new Tasman pickup at the UAE Tasman Roadshow in Dubai on April 9–10. Backed by 20 years of research and off-road expertise, the Tasman is designed for diverse terrains while offering practicality and SUV-like comfort. The Tasman sports a bold, boxy design inspired by Kia's Opposites United philosophy and debuts an industry-first, factory-backed customisation programme with 12 OEM packages. With nine exterior colours and four interior options—such as Espresso Brown and Terracotta Brown—it caters to adventurers, professionals, and families. Its eco-conscious interior features bio-plastics, recycled PET fabric, and eco-friendly paint. The Tasman is equipped with advanced features such as Kia Connect Car Services with over 50 smart functions, Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. Designed for performance, it offers 252 mm ground clearance, a class-leading 32° approach angle (X-Pro variant), 1,195 kg payload capacity, and 3.5-tonne towing capability. The company also stated that it has undergone 1,777 rigorous tests across 18,000+ cycles, including off-road, wading, towing, and on-track evaluations, to prove its reliability. Two powerplants will be offered: a 2.5L turbocharged petrol engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Kia Tasman will be available across the region from August this year. Prices inclusive of VAT in the UAE start at an MSRP of AED 118,290 for the Base LX 2WD trim, with the top-tier X-Pro+ variant priced at AED 178,090. Geely Cityray compact crossover comes to the Middle East The presence of Chinese automaker Geely grows with the addition of yet another all-new compact crossover to its portfolio—the Geely Cityray. The big reveal was organised at the Festival Arena at Dubai Festival City. The Cityray slots between models, borrowing chic styling cues from its larger sibling, the Starray, and the efficient yet potent powertrain from the sub-compact Coolray. The Geely Cityray, which measures 4,510mm in length, 1,650mm in height, and 1,865mm in width, is built on the CMA architecture. It combines a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to deliver 178 PS and 290 Nm of torque—propelling it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds. Inside, all models feature a modern cabin layout with a 4-spoke steering wheel, toggle-style gear shifter, and plastic trim with graphic accents. On the tech front, it comes equipped with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with 2K resolution and anti-glare technology. It is available in three distinct trims. The base GC model, priced at Dh86,500, comes with 18-inch wheels, a 4-speaker audio system, TPMS, parking sensors, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control. The mid-range GK variant, priced at Dh91,500, upgrades to a 6-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, Blind Spot Detection, and six airbags. At the top of the range is the GF+ Black Roof trim, which carries a price tag of Dh97,900. This variant adds a black roof, electric tailgate, 8-speaker sound system, electric seat adjustment, and 19-inch wheels. All models come standard with LED lamps and faux leather-upholstered seats. The price includes a 7-year/250,000 km warranty, free insurance with Dh3,000 support (on finance or cash purchase), and a service contract valid for 3 years or 60,000 km.
