The longtime So You Think You Can Dance host, 48, and the Northern Irish comedian, 54, announced their split on Tuesday, July 29, in a joint statement. "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated," the pair said, per BBC. "There is no other party involved," they continued. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected." The former couple concluded by noting that there will be "no further comment" on the matter. PEOPLE has reached out to representatives of Deeley and Kielty for comment. Deeley and Kielty have a long history and first worked together a decade before they got married. The two co-presented the British talent competition series Fame Academy, which aired for two seasons between 2002 and 2003. Fast-forward to September 2012, the couple tied the knot in Rome. In a 2015 interview on Loose Women, Kielty revealed how his and Deeley's friendship turned romantic thanks to a big gesture he made while Deeley was in Beverly Hills and he was in Northern Ireland at "a little Irish pub" around closing time. When he texted her for her birthday, Kielty remembered, "She said, 'It's just a shame you're not in L.A. because I'm having a lunch tomorrow.' So I said I'll be there." He then flew around the world and, when he walked into the Beverly Hills Hotel and said hi, Deeley "fell off the chair and we've been together ever since." The former couple share two children together. They welcomed their first son, Milo, in January 2016. In June 2018, they welcomed their second son, James Patrick. Between welcoming her two children with Kielty, Deeley opened up about motherhood. "I've got so much respect for all moms out there that do it. You have to juggle like crazy and have a team around you," she told PEOPLE at the time. "And whether that's your family, Mom and Dad, nanny … whoever it is, you have this team. It takes a tribe — I can totally understand that now." They wed in September 2012 at a ceremony in Rome and have two children together. They said in a joint statement to the PA news agency: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. "There will be no further comment." Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley News in 90 Seconds - Tuesday, July 29 The couple met on Fame Academy in 2002 and previously lived in the US. The TV stars then relocated to live in London, from which Kielty commutes to Dublin to present The Late Late Show. Patrick Kielty hosts the Late Late Show Last year, Kielty opened up about in an interview about the couple having to juggle their busy schedules. 'There was a moment after Christmas that was tricky,' he told the Times. 'She had to fly to Atlanta for seven weeks. There was a wee bit of a juggle there. But I think with all these things, as long as you have a routine, it doesn't take as much fizz out of you as some people think.' Kielty, who splits his time between the UK and Ireland, also said in the interview that he and This Morning host Cat were managing to still see eachother despite their hectic schedules. 'Because Cat's doing her stuff in the morning, she would normally be back just after lunchtime. And we've got the start of the week and the weekends together, so it's not 'Hi/bye',' he said. It has been a tough year for Kielty whose mother died in March at the age of 84. Patrick Kielty (right) carries the coffin of his mother, Mary Mary Kielty, whose husband Jack was shot dead by the Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF) during the Troubles in 1988, died peacefully at home in Dundrum, Co Down. Mourners at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Dundrum heard that Mrs Kielty had had "a difficult life", referring to the death of her husband. "It left its impact not only on the close family and friends, but also on the wider community," parish priest Robert Fleck said. He said that Mrs Kielty took her three sons "everywhere" while their father worked with showbands and at dances. Her life changed when her husband was killed in 1988. Patrick, who had presented an episode of RTÉ's flagship TV programme The Late Late Show hours before her death, gave the second reading at her funeral mass.
