Hyundai to provide hydrogen vehicles for APEC meetings in Busan
SEOUL: Hydrogen-powered vehicles will serve as the primary protocol vehicles for international energy ministerial events for the first time, Yonhap news agency quoted Hyundai Motor Group as saying on Tuesday.
The group will supply 63 zero-emission vehicles for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial meetings in Busan next month, including 34 Nexo hydrogen fuel cell SUVs, 12 Genesis G80 electric sedans and three hydrogen-powered Universe buses.
Hyundai signed an agreement with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to provide vehicles for the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting, the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting and the 10th Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting.
"By showcasing our eco-friendly vehicles at a venue that discusses the future of global energy, we hope to share our vision for sustainability and innovation with the world," said Kim Dong Wook, executive vice-president at Hyundai Motor Group.
Scheduled to take place from late October to early November 2025, over 20,000 participants are expected to attend the 2025 APEC Summit and related meetings.
Attendees will include governmental leaders and heads of state from the 21 APEC member countries, non-APEC foreign observers, top CEOs and business leaders, sustainability advocates and international media.
