Kim Soo Hyun escalates legal battle against late Kim Sae Ron's family: 'This is a clear and serious case of false accusation'

The well-known South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has filed a second lawsuit and criminal complaint against the family of late actress Kim Sae Ron and the popular social media personality Kim Se Ui, citing fabricated claims, falsified evidence, and AI-generated audio manipulation. The legal action follows a press conference held on May 7, where Kim Se Ui played a voice recording allegedly featuring Kim Sae Ron claiming she dated Soo Hyun while still in middle school. AI deepfake audio and alleged bribery claims Kim's legal team at LKB & Partners responded forcefully: 'Kim Se Ui and the late Kim Sae Ron's family went beyond merely spreading false information based on a forged audio file. They even filed a criminal complaint against actor Kim Soo Hyun, accusing him of false charges and violations of the Child Welfare Act. This is a clear and serious case of false accusation.' via Koreaboo The audio clip, which Kim's team asserts was created using AI deep voice technology, included lines such as: 'The first time [we had sex] was around the winter break of my second year in middle school.' Alleged voice of Kim Sae Ron, played by Kim Se Ui Kim Se Ui further alleged that Soo Hyun offered 4 billion KRW which is 2.91 million dollars USD to suppress the file and later assaulted the whistleblower when the offer was refused. Kim's lawyers have denied all claims, calling them 'absurd and baseless lies' and emphasizing the criminal severity of submitting forged digital evidence. Timeline of the controversy It started in February 2025, Kim Sae Ron dies by suicide, triggering public scrutiny of her past relationship with Kim Soo Hyun. Then in March 2025, the photos leaked and KakaoTalk messages surfaced, allegedly showing a relationship when Sae Ron was underage. Then in April–May 2025, Kim's agency confirms a brief relationship but insists it began after Sae Ron turned 18. On May 7, 2025: Kim Se Ui's press conference introduces AI-generated audio and assault allegations and on June 23, 2025, Kim Soo Hyun files new lawsuits for defamation, coercion, and violation of sexual crimes law. Career fallout and asset seizures The scandal has severely impacted Kim Soo Hyun's career with multiple brand endorsements cancelled, projects shelved or postponed and one luxury apartment provisionally seized due to advertiser lawsuits totaling 3.3 billion KRW Despite selling one of his Galleria Foret apartments for ₩8 billion KRW, Kim's team insists the sale was pre-planned and not financially motivated by the lawsuits. Whistleblower's credibility in question The whistleblower, known as Mr. A, later admitted to fabricating the audio using AI and sourcing injury photos from the internet. He claimed his wife caused 'misunderstandings' and that he sent the fake file to avoid being seen as a 'spy.' Forensic experts confirmed the audio was artificially generated.

'Absurd lies': Kim Soo Hyun sues Garosero, Kim Sae Ron's family AGAIN after 12 billion KRW lawsuit over AI audio

Actor Kim Soo Hyun has taken decisive legal action once again. He filed a new criminal complaint and lawsuit against YouTuber Kim Se Ui (operator of Garosero Institute) and the family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron. The complaint was confirmed by Kim's legal representation on June 23. It cites the dissemination of false information and submission of fabricated evidence. In a formal statement issued by L.K.B & Partners, the team revealed the reason behind the latest round of legal filings. According to them, the action was prompted by what they described as 'absurd and baseless lies' deliberately aimed at damaging the actor's reputation. May 7 press conference The new complaint zeroes in on a press event hosted by Kim Se Ui on May 7. During this press conference, Kim Se Ui played an audio clip he presented as a recording of the late actress Kim Sae Ron. According to him, the clip was proof that she and Kim Soo Hyun had been romantically involved since their teenage years. Kim Se Ui further accused Kim Soo Hyun of offering a massive sum (4 billion KRW) to suppress the audio recording. He also alleged that the whistleblower who refused the offer was physically assaulted by individuals acting on behalf of the actor. These claims have now become the focal point of the actor's legal response. Kim's legal team denounces allegations Kim Soo Hyun's legal representatives have strongly denied all accusations. They assert that the audio file played during the press conference was not an authentic recording. Instead, it was a file generated using advanced AI deepfake voice technology. This, they argued, constitutes a deliberate attempt to frame Kim Soo Hyun using forged digital evidence. The statement from L.K.B & Partners emphasized the seriousness of the situation. 'Kim Se Ui and the late Kim Sae Ron's family went beyond merely spreading false information based on a forged audio file. They even filed a criminal complaint against actor Kim Soo Hyun, accusing him of false charges and violations of the Child Welfare Act. This is a clear and serious case of false accusation,' they said. In closing, LKB & Partners emphasized that their legal pursuit is not about retaliation but about holding accountable those who weaponize misinformation. Previous legal actions This latest legal filing is not Kim Soo Hyun's first response to the controversy. Earlier, the actor filed a civil lawsuit seeking 12 billion KRW (approximately 8.74 million USD) in damages. That filing included claims under defamation and the Sexual Crimes Special Act.

Why did Kim Soo Hyun mention in livestream dispatch police to Garosero's office? YouTuber claims 'press suppression'

The controversy involving Kim Soo Hyun and the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute escalated again on June 13, 2025. Seoul police were dispatched to the channel's office in Shinsa-dong. The incident came after the channel aired a live broadcast. The viewers say it may have violated a court-issued stalking restriction involving the actor. Live broadcast prompts immediate reaction According to reports, the latest stream featured Kim Soo Hyun 's name prominently in the video thumbnail before it went live. This triggered a wave of concern among netizens. They suspected the move could be a violation of the court's provisional measure. The order bars Kim Se Ui, the figurehead of Garosero, from producing or publishing content related to the actor. As viewers witnessed the stream unfold in real time, multiple individuals reported the video to the police. It prompted immediate action from authorities. Police visit and verbal warning Seoul's police responded swiftly, visiting the YouTube studio and confronting Kim Se Ui directly. Officers reportedly informed him of the provisional stalking measure in place and issued a verbal warning. They urged caution in any further content referencing Kim Soo Hyun. The interaction was brief, and officers departed soon after, but the implications were significant. When asked by the media about the specifics of the warning or whether legal procedures would follow, police declined to elaborate. They stated they could not provide detailed confirmation at this stage. Kim Se Ui responds Despite the police's intervention, Kim Se Ui addressed the situation directly during the same broadcast. Visibly frustrated, he stated, 'The police rang the doorbell and interrupted me while I was on a live broadcast. This is an apparent suppression of the press.' Stalking order The visit follows an earlier decision by the Seoul Central District Court, which imposed a provisional stalking order against Kim Se Ui. It restricts his ability to reference or contact Kim Soo Hyun. The YouTuber had appealed the court's decision, but the appeal was dismissed, leaving the order intact. Garosero's role in controversy Garosero Research Institute has been at the center of the firestorm surrounding the late actress Kim Sae Ron and her alleged relationship with Kim Soo Hyun. The channel has repeatedly published videos making serious claims about the actor. Many of which remain unverified. Backed by members of Kim Sae Ron's family, Garosero alleges that Kim Soo Hyun was in a romantic relationship with the actress for six years. It allegedly began when she was still underage. However, Kim Soo Hyun firmly denied the accusations. He states that the actor and Kim Sae Ron were in a relationship for only one year, and only after she became a legal adult.

Kim Soo Hyun scores first big win: YouTuber Kim Se Ui's properties seized, Tzuyang case reopened, arrest warrant looms if he skips summons

The legal battle between Kim Soo Hyun and YouTuber Kim Se Ui resulted in the first win for the actor. On June 9, the Seoul Central District Court approved a request filed by the Queen of Tears star's agency, Gold Medalist, allowing them to seize two luxury properties owned by Kim Se Ui. The actor had earlier filed a lawsuit worth 12 billion KRW against Garosero's (The YouTube channel) head and late actor Kim Sae Ron's family for accusing him of dating the actor when she was underage, alongside breaching privacy and publicly disclosing private matters while fabricating the facts. Also read: Amid Kim Soo Hyun backlash, a look at 7 Korean actors who bounced back from controversies K-media Money Today reported the court found enough merit in the agency's damage claims to greenlight the seizure, at least at this stage. The seized properties include a 120.27㎡ apartment in Seocho Buksan Blooming and a 208.65㎡ unit in Apgujeong-dong's Hanyang Apartment Complex 4. Since the second property is co-owned with the YouTuber's sister, only his 50% share was allowed to be seized. Gold Medalist is trying to secure at least 4 billion KRW from these properties, 2 billion each, as part of its civil lawsuit. Jonjae Law Firm's attorney Noh Jong Eon stated, 'The court likely found reasonable grounds in the claimed damages. However, since this is a provisional seizure, Kim Se-ui's rebuttal has yet to be reviewed. The final compensation could change after a full hearing.' According to the current market analysis, the Seocho apartment is valued at around 2.5 billion KRW; meanwhile, the second one could be valued at around 8.87 billion KRW. However, both properties reportedly have large mortgage loans, so extracting the exact amount to recover their damages might not be easy for Gold Medalist if the court rules in their favour later. Also read: Kim Soo Hyun breaks silence on financial trouble amid lawsuit discrepancy: 'We did not fail to pay…' Earlier, it was reported that police are preparing paperwork to summon Kim Se Ui, who has been dodging questioning for a while now. The Garo Sero host is now cornered by a double setback. In a completely separate but parallel case, popular YouTuber Tzuyang also filed a lawsuit against Kim Se Ui in February 2025, accusing him of blackmail, coercion, violation of the Anti-Stalking Law, and defamation. The case was reopened after the YouTuber appealed and gave her statement in May 2025. When police tried to summon Kim Se Ui for questioning in both the Tzuyang and Kim Soo Hyun cases, he skipped appearances twice, citing his involvement and business in South Korea's presidential election. Now that the election is over, police are preparing to summon him again. Authorities have also warned that if he continues to ignore summons, they may issue an arrest warrant. The public dispute between Soo Hyun and Kim Se Ui started back in March, following Kim Sae Ron's tragic death. The YouTuber accused the actor of being in an 'inappropriate relationship' with the deceased. In response, the actor and his agency held a press conference where they denied the allegations, stating that the two only dated after Sae Ron became an adult. Following that, Garo Sero dropped more pictures, video call logs, and even message transcripts, some of which were reconstructed. The actor then filed both criminal and civil cases, and in response, Kim Sae Ron's family filed a countersuit against Kim Soo Hyun, accusing him of violating child welfare laws and making false accusations. The legal investigations are still ongoing.
