"So the team performed a difficult stretcher carry to a lower location where he could be collected by the helicopter and flown to our vehicles. "This was a challenging ten hour incident for all involved. We would like to thank the group of walkers who called in the incident for their assistance. "The team would like to pass on our sincere condolences to the walker's family." The Peak District is one of the most popular natural attractions in Britain. Hypothermic pair seek help from wild camper
Two people embarking on their first wild camping experience in the Peak District became hypothermic after their tent was broken by strong wind. Kinder Mountain Rescue Team said the pair, who had been "out for hours and were now getting seriously cold", sought help from an experienced wild camper pitched up at Swine's Back on Friday night. He made them a hot chocolate as they took shelter in the porch of his one-man tent, and he decided to call the rescue team for help at 22:45 BST due to them "significantly shivering". A group of 12 volunteers came to their aid, bringing them blizzard jackets to warm them up before helping them back to their base. In a social media post, the rescue team said: "It was now 01:00 and as there was no public transport, we drove them back to their car in Edale. "Our thanks go to the gentleman who called for assistance. "His help was invaluable to the couple having a safe outcome." Follow BBC Derby on Facebook, on X, or on Instagram. Kinder Mountain Rescue Team were called on Friday afternoon, after the boy had decided to walk ahead of his parents on a trek from Hayfield to Kinder Downfall. When the family realised he became separated whilst walking up Sandy Heyes, rescue teams from Buxton, Glossop and Search Dogs England were called out to start the "major search". After three and a half hours of searching, rescuers said the boy managed to make his own way down and ended up back at his family's car, which was parked in Bowden Bridge. In a social media post, the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team said: "Special thanks to the group of walkers who took the time to look after the distressed mother and then escort her until we were able to meet up with them. "It's great to see people taking the time to help others on the hills." Follow BBC Derby on Facebook, on X, or on Instagram. Send your story ideas to eastmidsnews@ or via WhatsApp on 0808 100 2210.
