King holds trilateral summit on Gaza with Egyptian, French presidents

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II Holds Trilateral Summit with Egyptian, French Leaders on Gaza Crisis His Majesty King Abdullah II convened a trilateral summit in Cairo on Monday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron to address the escalating humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza. According to a Royal Court statement, the summit—hosted by Egypt—saw the three leaders urging the international community to intensify efforts toward ending Israel's war on Gaza, reinstating a ceasefire across all stages, and ensuring the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the worsening situation for Gazans. King Abdullah warned that the ongoing Israeli military operations risk undermining all diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives and could push the region toward further instability. He reiterated the urgency of de-escalating tensions and reviving a political process aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution—ensuring security for both Palestinians and Israelis, and safeguarding regional stability. The King expressed appreciation for Egypt's steadfast support under President Al Sisi for Arab and Palestinian causes, as well as France's backing of a Gaza ceasefire and its endorsement of the Arab-led reconstruction initiative for the Strip. King Abdullah strongly reaffirmed Jordan's opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank, and condemned ongoing unilateral actions and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Both King Abdullah and President Sisi commended France's position in supporting a resolution to the Palestinian issue and rejecting displacement, while emphasising the need for unified international—especially European—support for the reconstruction and recovery of Gaza. All three leaders underscored the need to relaunch a credible political process toward establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and to achieve lasting peace and security in the region. President Macron, in turn, acknowledged the vital roles of Jordan and Egypt in defending Palestinian rights, and affirmed France's commitment to supporting efforts to restore calm and pursue a political resolution to the conflict. The Jordanian delegation accompanying the King included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the King's Office Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Egypt Amjad Adaileh. Ahead of the summit, King Abdullah also held bilateral talks with President Al Sisi, focusing on strengthening Jordan-Egypt ties and reinforcing coordination on key regional issues. The King also met separately with President Macron to explore avenues for expanding cooperation and promoting international peace and stability.
