Meath delighted to silence those who wrote them off as they advance to last four

Ruairi Kinsella said sticking it to those who wrote Meath off and finishing so strongly at Croke Park was sweet. The Royals winced as a six-point lead with 56 minutes on the clock suddenly turned into a three-point deficit at the hour mark. Galway had all the momentum at that stage and appeared to be finally delivering on their favourites tag after slamming in two goals. But Meath, the only Division 2 team still alive in the Championship, dug remarkably deep to conjure the scores late on to win it. Attacker Kinsella said: "When Galway scored that second goal to go three up, I'd say 90 percent of the country wrote us off then, there and then. "It shows the character in the team, the belief we have that we came back, how hard we've worked all year. We just stayed calm, looked after the ball, and we went again. It was next ball, next ball, next ball. And we came out the right side." Kinsella praised forward colleague and Man of the Match Jordan Morris, describing the Kingscourt man as unstoppable when on top form. And he said the team as a whole is brimming with confidence and belief. Kinsella said: "Yeah, I think that's the main thing, belief really. The boys who have come in in the management have just instilled that belief into us. I feel like over the years we've had the quality, we've had the players, but the belief just wasn't there. "I think we didn't have the confidence to say, 'Oh yeah, we can beat these teams'. Whereas this year it's a completely different story, we've gone into every game thinking, 'Yeah, why can't we win this game?' So yeah, we've shown that so far in the Championship this year and hopefully we can keep that going." Galway boss Padraic Joyce was frustrated with a couple of big decisions. Like referee Martin McNally waving play on when Daniel O'Flaherty was stripped of the ball in the buildup to Meath's first goal. And how Eoghan Frayne was able to run down the clock with the last play of the game. "Connor (Gleeson) had a ball thrown down to kick it in the last two seconds and he just blew it up," said Joyce. "I don't know, he kicked it short to himself. Just frustrated with a few decisions that went against us. That happens, we have to move on and take it." Joyce said the bottom line was that Galway 'didn't get to the energy levels of the game'. "I think we conceded 2-6 or 2-7 in turnovers," he said. "I thought it was a harsh free given against Dan O'Flaherty which resulted in Meath's goal as well. Some days you get them, some days you don't."

Kids birthday parties in Perth: From dodgeball to pamper party buses, here's how WA kids like to celebrate

Having hosted hundreds of children's birthday parties over the past decade, Jimmy Kinsella knows the key to a successful — and stress free — event. 'Keep them contained, and keep them entertained,' he told The Sunday Times this week. That is the motto of The Dodgy Bros, a pop-up dodgeball party business that started as a side hustle for Mr Kinsella and his brother Mikee and which now hosts bucks parties, corporate events and kids birthday parties in Perth, and will next month launch in Melbourne. They are among a growing number of entrepreneurs capitalising on a boom in demand for unique, fun and — crucially — outsourced birthday parties as time-poor parents look to keep their offspring happy while at the same time avoiding mess and stress. The Dodgy Bros' most popular package for kids parties is a $660, two-hour event for up to 25 kids. 'We bring everything, all parents have to do is find a space or book a park and we arrive and run the rest,' Mr Kinsella said. 'The adults can sit and relax while we handle the kids, but we also get adults engaged and throwing balls at the kids, it's always such a laugh.' Steve and Sandra Banks' Pamper Party Bus is also hugely popular, and booked out up to three months in advance. Five years ago, the couple bought and refurbished a motor home, transforming it into a bright pink beauty salon on wheels, providing services such as manicures, mini facials, face paint, hair styling and face jewels. The base package starts at $495 for eight children, which includes photos and videos taken by the hosts. Mrs Banks said they sought to fill a gap in the market for unique, high-quality children's entertainment that catered to kids but also offered a seamless, enjoyable experience for adults. 'Parents are increasingly looking for a stress-free, fun, and memorable experiences for their children, something that doesn't involve hours of set-up and clean-up,' she said. 'The trend seems to be towards outsourcing the hard work and parents want their kids to have truly unique experiences. 'With our service, we offer that convenience, plus an element of excitement that kids will remember long after the party is over. We focus a lot on personalisation to make sure each birthday child feels super special on their big day.' Hosted parties at Timezone and McDonald's are also popular, in part thanks to nostalgic parents seeking to recreate treasured birthday memories from their own childhoods. Timezone Innaloo venue manager Khia George said demand for birthday parties had 'picked up a lot lately', with the venue hosting at least one every weekend. From $32 per child guests enjoy unlimited play for an allotted time before enjoying party food, supplied by the party host, in a private room. 'The biggest selling point is we take care of everything, parents don't have to worry about clean up,' Ms George said. McDonald's announced the return of its birthday parties earlier this year, starting at $17.50 per child and including 90 minutes of games and entertainment, a Happy Meal, party bag, invitations, party hats and a party host, with options to include the classic Macca's birthday cake.

Can your social media posts stop you getting into the United States?

'If in doubt, just wipe it,' said Caro Kinsella, a Limerick-born US immigration specialist who advises people on how to deal with heightened US border security patrol. 'Jokes are a really big one. You might be messing around with your friends and think it's harmless. 'You might have completely forgotten about it. But officers are looking for key words and their algorithms are very advanced.' The expert advice comes after US authorities have instructed immigration officials to check visa applicants' online posts for 'any indications of hostility toward the citizens, culture, government, institutions or founding principles of the United States'. Ms Kinsella said that 'many' of her Irish clients have experienced problems at border security over jokes discovered within their phone, messaging apps or social media feeds. She also said that references to drugs, even when joking, can be detected, using systems and processes to interrogate the phones, laptops or tablets. 'They have every right to request full access to all of your electronic devices,' she said. 'They will ask you to hand over your phone, your laptop, your iPad and other electronic devices. 'There and then, they will ask you for access and they will pull up the information immediately or go away with your electronic device and maybe call you into a back room.

Man pleads guilty to firearms charges in case linked to Carlow shooter Evan Fitzgerald

TWO YOUNG MEN charged with multiple firearms offences alongside Evan Fitzgerald, the 22-year-old man who died after firing shots at a shopping centre in Carlow earlier this month, have appeared before Naas Circuit Court this afternoon. The charges stem from an incident in March 2024, in which the two were arrested along with Fitzgerald. Shane Kinsella, of Tynock, Kiltegan, Co Wicklow, and Daniel Quinn Burke, of Allendale Lawns, Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, are facing charges under the Firearms Act relating to weapons and ammunition. All three had been facing the same four charges: two counts relating to the possession of weapons, and two relating to the possession of ammunition. Kinsella and Quinn Burke have been on bail since March 2024. Fitzgerald had also been on bail prior to his death. Advertisement During a hearing earlier this month at Naas District Court Judge Desmond Zaidan withdrew the charges against Fitzgerald , who fatally injured himself in the incident at the Fairgreen centre, and described his death as 'a suicide'. Kinsella and Quinn Burke, both aged 21, were accompanied by their mothers in court today. The charges for both were idential – possession of .45 calibre M1911A1 semi-automatic pistol, as well as a 7.62mm G3 assault rifle and a range of ammunition. After Judge Elva Duffy read the firearms charges aloud, Daniel Quinn Burke entered a guilty plea. He is due to return to court for sentencing on 7 October. Shane Kinsella, represented by solicitor David Powderly, requested more time before entering a plea. Judge Duffy agreed to adjourn the case, and Kinsella is expected to appear again on 18 July. Netflix viewers obsessed with 'ruthless' show they can't stop watching

Netflix viewers have been left completely obsessed with a show that is so gripping, fans say that viewers won't be able to stop watching it once they've started Netflix fans have been urged to watch a 'bingeworthy' series that's bound to keep you glued to your TV screen. Known for sharing streaming recommendations on his TikTok account, TV and film critic Eccy Reviews insists that the AMC+ original show Kin will have you on the edge of your seat. Kin is available to stream in both the UK and US and follows the Kinsella clan as they navigate difficult power dynamics while striving to protect their family amid a vicious drug war that pushes their bonds to breaking point. The compelling drama unfolds over two seasons with eight episodes apiece, boasting a stellar cast including Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, Aiden Gillen, Emmett Maria Doyle Kennedy, Sam Keeley, Yasmin Seky, Ciarán Hinds, and Francis Magee. ‌ Eccy Reviews said: "Once you start this, you won't be able to stop yourself from finishing it as it is so good. It's gripping, it's entertaining and it's absolutely ruthless." ‌ Viewers have been vocal in their praise, with comments on Eccy's video reflecting the enthusiasm. One viewer exclaimed: "I tell everyone to watch Kin! It's top tier show!" Meanwhile, others compared it favourably to other shows or shared their keen approval: "Kin was great so was This City is Ours and just finished Dept Q, which was fab." Another said: "Watched it on Irish TV over the last couple of years it's a decent watch but very much like Love/Hate." A fan commented: "I've seen it before, absolutely brilliant." Adding to its accolades, Kin has snagged nine awards and snagged 14 nominations, crowning its success with the Best Television Drama prize at the 2024 IFTA Awards. IMDb reviews are buzzing with opinions on the show, with one viewer commenting: "I won't give it away. Watch the entire series even though you get impatient or bored. The ending is worth it. I wonder if there will be another season." Another chimed in with their take: "I personally thought the second season was better than the first. ‌ "The character of Bren brought this series to life and made it much more gritty. I wasn't keen on the relationship with Michael and his estranged daughter in either season." However, others were more critical, with one writing: "The acting and dialogue just wasn't working and was slow and repetitive. Ciaran Hinds in the first season was also good and the camera screen just loves his presence. "Obviously can't go into details with the storylines because it will spoil this but I thought the character of Eric also did a great Job in both seasons. Overall I preferred the second season of this series." A different user recommended the show: "It's a great show definitely worth a watch. First Irish series I've watched and definitely better than some of the other trash on the TV. I hope they make a second season and build upon it." And finally, a user delved into the plot: "Kin as in Kinsella a fictional Dublin crime family embroiled in a crime war . Murder, death and drugs seem to be everyday activities for this Irish clan. "A well acted crime drama with devastating violence . I read somewhere it was not based in truth but fiction. But I did read in Irish Times the big Dublin crime family is the Kinahan gang."
