Days of Our Lives Recap: Xander and Maggie Find Common Ground originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Brady Pub: Brady and Rachel arrive and join Sarah. Rachel wishes her a happy fourth of July and is shocked to hear she is Sarah's favorite patient. Her mommy tells her she's an acquired taste. The adults hem and haw before Rachel she heads back to help Roman with breakfast. Sarah asks about Rachel and Brady swears her to secrecy before telling her about what happened when she saw Johnny the night of EJ's shooting. She is horrified for Rachel as children need stability to thrive. Brady thinks they are no longer only speaking about Rachel. Sarah thinks back to win she passed Victoria off as Rex' child and wishes Xander never found out the truth. Brady says Xander loves Victoria with all his heart. Sarah worries as Xander's anger hurts the folks he loves the most. Brady brings up his strained relationship with Kristen and how it has played hell with Rachel. He doesn't want to see the same thing happen to Victoria for the same reasons. He says he and Kristen found a way to move forward as a team and thinks she and Xander should do the same. Just then, Rachel returns and they all begin to eat breakfast. Kiriakis Mansion: Xander arrives to see Victoria and runs into Maggie. He has a stuffed dog with him, but Maggie says his daughter is now deathly afraid of dogs. He grouses about the changes in her when he's not around before Maggie says she can't let him see his daughter because she's sleeping. Xander asks if he can wait and Maggie agrees but tries to leave the room. Xander stops her and accuses her of voting for EJ to take over the hospital. Maggie says she hates Xander's actions but not him. Because of her love for Victor, she will never give up on him. She tells him never to question her loyalty to Victor and says she voted for him – and then calls him a jackass. She says nothing has changed between the two of them since he beat the fool out of his brother. Xander pushes back but then says he and Philip have found a way to work together moving forward. Maggie encourages him to do the same with Sarah so they can provide stability for their daughter. Xander says he intends to provide Victoria stability once he's granted full custody. Maggie thinks Xander is delusional as no judge would grant such a thing. Xander reminds Maggie of all Sarah's lying, stealing and cheating to get what she wants. If Sarah wants war, he's ready to fight. Maggie suggests he take the high road and create a solution that allows he and Sarah to work together. She reminds Xander how much he and Sarah, both love each other and the opportunity they have to make things right. Just then, they hear Victoria's cries on the monitor. Xander and Maggie hold hands, and he goes upstairs to hang with his daughter. Hernandez House: Guncle Leo is doting over Baby Boy Choi and begging him to sleep. Javi arrives home and they quietly chat about the things he got for the baby. Leo wonders how long the baby will be staying. He says they've got the baby until social services make their next move. Leo asks about the mother, but Javi says the point of the drop off program is the anonymity of the mother. Leo notes what a difficult decision it must have been. Leo mentions his experience with delivering Nicole's baby but Javi notes that wasn't exactly a great situation. Leo agrees but still notes babies love him and he loves to watch them. That being said, he wonders if staying with him and Javi is the best start for the young boy. He knows Rafe and Javi will be good influences on the boy but is not so sure about himself. Leo mentions his checkered past and childhood traumas. Javi stops him and says everything will be just fine. Leo asks again how long they will be in possession of the baby boy. Javi hesitates before saying he's getting credentialed to be a foster parent in case they need to keep the little one with them for an extended time. Leo gets it and says he's on board to do right by the baby. Javi hopes someone is doing right by the baby's mother. Sophia's Digs: Sophia tosses and turns as she thinks about the traumatic birth the night before. She jumps awake and realizes she is no longer pregnant. Mama Choi calls and Sophia lies about being tired from the baby kicking and agrees to see her upon her return. She then calls someone (Melinda?) and makes a plan to meet up. Horton Square: Tate runs into Holly and have a seat. He asks if she thinks they can start over. She's not certain they can start from scratch, but Tate wants to give it a shot. They agree to take it slow, and he asks her on a date. When Sophia enters the square, she sees the couple holding hands. He asks if she wants to go tomorrow night, but she says she and Arianna Grace have to go to Senior Lake Week. Holly says he should join but Tate says it's probably not a great idea as Sophia's due date looms. Tate selfishly says he could go on the trip as he has a phone and will only be an hour away. Holly smiles at being prioritized and Tate says he's certain Sophia will be fine. Park: Sophia meets up with Melinda who immediately pulls her into a comforting hug. She can't believe Sophia went through something so traumatic by herself. Sophia thinks she is ok physically. Melinda reminds her that she is her lawyer and confidentiality is in place. Sophia explains she gave birth in her room because everything was happening so fast and didn't think she had time to call anyone. Melinda asks for more details and Sophia says she pulled up a YouTube video which told her how to do everything but cut the cord. Melinda's reaction lays somewhere between impressed and mortified. She admits she is relieved everything went fairly well. Sophia is in tears when she talks about dropping the baby off at the fire station. She knows she did the right things as both Tate and her mother would have wanted to keep the baby once they saw him and without an adoptive family in place. Melinda wants to get her examined by a doctor, but Sophia is having none of it. Melinda says they can go to a clinic outside of town and won't take no for an answer. Sophia is frantic as she wonders what in the world, she's going to tell her mother and Tate. Melinda says to leave it to her as she has a plan. Sophia worries her mother will find out and Melinda says she'll cover the cost, so they don't have to go through her insurance. Endings Sarah and Xander run into each other in Horton Square. She notices the stuffed dog and Xander realizes he looks silly. She says she is more shocked he doesn't have it holding a Scottish flag. He says he kept it since Victoria is now terrified of dogs. He says he's going shopping for a teddy bear because making Victoria happy is all that matters. Holly greets her grandmother, and Maggie notes her good mood. Holly says she and Tate are back together and Maggie is thrilled. That being said, she wants Holly to be careful as the baby could change everything. Javi thanks Leo for being on board with the baby and they kiss. Just then, Baby Boy Choi cries and the duo comforts him. Javi looks longingly at a picture on his phone of him holding the baby letting us know there is more to this story. Tate, Rachel and Brady are at the penthouse hanging out and chatting about the breakfast at the pub. They decide to take a short nap before the impending parade. With that, Rachel exits. Brady asks Tate how it's going. Tate says he feels a little guilty because he and Holly have gotten back together and worries how Sophia will react. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: University Hospital – Lobby: Sarah gets a call from Xander asking to visit Victoria the next day. She agrees and he hangs up. Kiriakis Mansion: Holly is visiting with Grandma Maggie saying her father would be so proud of her for graduating as salutatorian. Further, she has gotten into college in Paris. Maggie questions her decision and Holly says she's worried about her mother. Maggie thinks whatever is going on with Nicole and Eric is their issue. She needs to focus on her education and what's best for her. Just then, Sarah walks in. Sarah asks Holly about her summer plans, and she rattles off a few goals, including a senior sleep away event she and Arianna Grace will be attending together. With that, she exits and texts young Douglas about their study session. Doug texts back saying he has decided not to get his GED. Sarah tells Maggie about the large likelihood of sharing custody of Victoria with Xander. She doesn't know how she will deal with being so connected to a man she despises but also has such a pull on her. Maggie is glad she is talking about her feelings of conflict and knows both she and Xander still love each other. Sarah thought her love for Xander would change him and Maggie says it did. She doesn't think the change went deep enough. His violent temper and the anger and judgement with which he treats her makes him a man she couldn't possibly live with (re: anger and judgement – that ain't your lesson to teach. Also, Horton privilege..). Maggie gets it but notes she can't live without him. What she's expressing is exactly the way she felt about Victor. She details the struggle and inner conflict she experienced being married to a man like Victor. Maggie says she had to find a way to live with the reality of Victor's devious and sometimes brutal side. Sarah isn't certain she could ever do the same with Xander. Hernandez House: Leo is checking into the stolen necklace but has no luck. Javi appears in his paramedic uniform and his beau is quite impressed. He wants to get all sexy but Javi has to go to work. Horton House: Steve arrives with news for Julie about her necklace. He has a lead on the buyer. It was purchased using a wire transfer and now he has Austin (who used to be a forensic accountant) working his magic to find the buyer. Steve promises they are going to find whoever has her necklace. Julie is curious how much the necklace is going for as she wanted to get it appraised for insurance purposes. The 'little weasel' took it before she was able to do so. Recognizing himself a bit, Steve cuts for young Douglas. He knows what it is to be young and make stupid mistakes. Julie remembers having shoplifted a fur stole and being arrested when she was young. That being said, Julie can't forgive him because he betrayed his family legacy (Horton privilege in full effect). Park: Young Douglas meets the debt collector goon and tells him that he needs more time to get the money. The goon swallows the park whole as he says no more excuses. He says they need payment, in full, now. The goon mentions Holly and how her family is loaded. He reminds Doug again he will hit up every last person he knows if he fails to pay off his debt. Marlena and John's Penthouse: Tate leaves a message for Sophia saying he feels better they have an attorney to set up the adoption before the baby comes. Tate gets a text from Holly asking if she can come over and he enthusiastically agrees. Holly arrives to check on Tate after losing his Grandpa John. He is so happy to see his ex-girlfriend and finds it weird they are no longer seeing each other on the daily after graduation. Holly tells Tate about being accepted at the Sorbonne and he worries she is leaving town. Holly hasn't made any decisions. Holly says she's had trouble getting over him. She thought she had feelings for Doug but admits to Tate she's never gotten over him. Tate feels the same way. With that, they embrace and kiss. Sophia's Digs: A sweaty and distraught Sophia is cleaning up blood and throwing things away when her newborn baby boy cries (that was fast). She apologizes to the baby for not having parents lined up for him. She worries her mother, father and Tate are all going to want her to keep him. For that reason, she can't let anyone see him as she will never get her life back. Sophia pulls on a black hoodie (never a great garment to wear in Salem) and picks up her sleeping baby. She begins to cry and says how sorry she is to have to do this to him but thinks she has no other choice. With that, she grabs her backpack and exits. Sophia returns without her baby, sits down on her bed and cries (how in the world is she going to explain being baby bumpless?). She lies down and sobs as she holds her teddy bear close and says 'I'm sorry' over and over again. Sophia hears her phone beep and listens to the message Tate left. She feels better hearing his voice but quickly breaths a heavy sigh when he mentions the adoption. Sophia rubs her babyless belly saying it's too late for adoption as their baby has come and gone. Horton Square: Steve gets a call from Austin who tells him something leading to him calling Bo. University Hospital – Lobby: Kayla and Javi talk about the folks he's brought in that evening and how well he did with the last patient he brought in. Steve arrives and tells Kayla about finding the person who purchased Julie's necklace. Kayla congratulates him and thinks it will lead to many more cases for him and his new partners. She mentions young Douglas and they both hope he has learned some valuable lessons. Steve and Kayla are about to exit when Javi walks in with a baby. He says someone left him, cord still attached, at the Safe Haven box in the fire station. Kayla takes the baby and cradles him, saying he is safe now. Kayla returns after examining the baby and says he's in good shape. Javi asks what's next and Kayla says he's been assigned a social worker. The mother has 14 days to by law to reclaim the child before they system officially takes over. Until then, he'll be placed with in foster care. Based on his history, Steve freaks out and asks her not to let that happen. He thinks he would like them to foster the baby. Kayla gets it but thinks they are too busy to make it work. Javi says he has an idea. Horton Square: Young Douglas calls Leo and is disappointed to learn he's had no luck finding the necklace. He suggests Doug practice positive affirmations each morning to make his life better (giggle). Doug is not inspired by his friend's words. Julie walks into the square and fields a call from Bo saying her grandmother's necklace is on the way back to Salem. She walks off and runs into young Douglas. Julie tries to blow him off, but Doug begs her to wait. Endings Young Douglas says he did all he could to get the necklace and even if he could, he wouldn't be able to afford it. With venom, Julie says she isn't surprised (See: Horton privilege). Doug says he's thinking of leaving town and wants her to know how sorry he is. Julie says she is sorry she welcomed him into her home and that he carries her late husband's name. She continues to tear into Doug's grandson and tells him to get gone. With that, she tells him the necklace was found and storms off. Sarah thanks Maggie for her support and love. She has to figure out a new way forward. Maggie asks if she wants to divorce Xander and Sarah says she doesn't know. Maggie thinks being uncertain indicates her marriage may still have hope. Tate and Holly kiss and she's astounded Sophia hasn't shown up to interrupt their reunion. With that, they get back to their make out session. Sophia tries to pull herself together, picks up her phone and calls someone (Melinda?) to ask for help. Leo preps himself for his night of passion when Javi arrives with a baby in tow. Days of Our Lives Recap: Xander and Sarah Clash Over Victoria originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Titan/DiMera: Stephanie arrives to see Alex. She wants to see if he can head out, but Alex says he has to cover with both Xander and Philip out. He promises they will soon make up for lost time. The couple begin to make out and he leans her over the desk. As they are about to go full press, Kate arrives, and Stephanie makes a quick exit. Kate tells Alex what she walked in on could have been a page out of 'One Stormy Night.' She admits she is loving the book but has misplaced it. He can't imagine what he's going to tell the author. Kate apologizes and says she's been distracted with Philip and John. Alex understands and Kate goes on to say how worried she is someone will take the manuscript and use it as their own. Kate promises to keep looking and Alex says the job offer is still open to her. She says she still has to decline the offer because she couldn't possibly work for Xander. Kiriakis Mansion: Maggie and Sarah are sipping tea and discussing John's funeral. Maggie says dying a hero was fitting for him as it's the way he lived. Maggie remembers Sarah being hit by the car the year before and how John's intuition told him Brady was always innocent (Can we please get Xander's mother back?). Sarah talks a bit about Xander and feels so foolish to have believed he had changed (I don't like the Xander is to blame narrative here). Sarah says she loves Xander but realizes love might not be enough. She can't believe she wasted time feeling so guilty for keeping the secret when Xander did exactly what she thought he would (Again, that doesn't mean you are free and clear Miss Sarah). She talks a bit about their last confrontation and Maggie thinks Xander is trying to blame Sarah for something he has already done. Sarah worries as Xander wants to see Victoria. She knows he would never hurt her nor Victoria but is concerned she'll get sucked back into his orbit. Sarah considers taking Victoria and going on the run. Maggie begs Sarah to be careful. She knows Xander is likely to go to prison, but a judge can rule on a custody battle in all kinds of different ways. Knowing Xander would never hurt Victoria, why in the world would Sarah ever consider going on the run. Horton Square: Xander has bought a dress for Victoria when EJ walks up to give him the business about the hospital vote. Xander tells him to piss off and walks away. Salem PD: Jada and Belle discuss John. Belle says she needs to be distracted and wants to get back to work on Philip and EJ's cases. Jada can't believe Xander was granted bail. Belle says she is deadest on prosecuting him. Shawn Douglas arrives and tells Belle he's there to support her. She has no time and quickly exits. Jada inquires and he says they are just awkward around each other. She says she is sorry for his loss and asks what's up. Shawn D apologizes for lying about being sick the other day. Jada admits she knows the entire story and is thrilled Bo is on the mend. Shawn D is thrilled as well but is devastated by John's passing. He starts to go into the details of the mission, but she stops him, so she has plausible deniability. University Hospital – Philip's Room: Kayla enters, and Kate asks about John's wake. Kayla says it was a perfect celebration of John's life. Kate says she would have been there but needed to be near Philip. Kayla understands and says his labs show much improvement. Kate doesn't want to leave as she fears her son's life is still in danger. She can't wait for him to wake up so he can identify Xander as his attacker. Kate mentions her misplaced manuscript and says she hates she can't read more to him, even though it's somewhat inappropriate. Kate begs her son to wake up so they can catch up. She kisses him on the forehead and exits the room. Brady Pub: Outside, Xander runs into Kayla. She goes off on him and Xander assumes Sarah has poisoned the water. Kayla is furious that his inability to control his anger may have ruined his life for good. With that, she storms off. Xander is sitting on the bench when Sarah calls asking him to meet up. Horton Square: Belle is chatting with Claire about her grandpa John's funeral. She says she is going to wrap up some cases and pay her and Theo a visit. She hangs up but then spots EJ and pretends to still be talking. Just then, EJ walks up and catches her in the midst of pretending. He asks her to be honest if she doesn't want to see him. Belle says she doesn't know if she can deal with their relationship at this point in time. EJ understands but wishes he could be there to support her. With that, he exits. Shawn Douglas walks up and finds Belle alone and asks to talk. He says he just spoke with Claire Bear and learned she is headed soon to South Africa. They agree they could be trusted to visit their daughter at the same time. University Hospital – Lobby: Kayla walks in and doesn't realize the manuscript is on the desk. Jus then, Stephanie arrives to talk to her mother. She asks about her father and closing down Black Patch. Kayla says she is just as concerned but selfishly wants him to lead a safer existence. Stephanie asks if she could host a special dinner to celebrate her father to life his spirits. Kayla thinks it's a great idea and Stephanie makes her exit. Kiriakis Mansion: Xander arrives and wants to talk about Victoria. Sarah says she won't even consider joint custody. He asks what she's considering, and Sarah says he can have supervised visitation at the mansion. She says she will agree to her terms or do nothing and Xander agrees. Xander wants to go upstairs to see his daughter but Sarah gets all kinds of shouty and says she makes the rules now because he tried to kill his brother (Again, this narrative drives me insane). Xander says Sarah is responsible for setting the tone for everything that's happening now. Sarah counters his violent tendencies will be responsible for him missing his daughter's formative years (Ugh). Stephanie's Place: Stephanie arrives home and asks Jada if she's willing to attend a dinner for her father and his retirement. Jada agrees and just then Alex arrives. He begins to undress before he sees Jada behind him. She decides to run an errand and says she will meet up with them at The Bistro later in the evening. University Hospital – Kayla's Office: EJ arrives to see Kayla. He says how much he is looking forward to working together. They go back and forth, and Kayla reluctantly agrees to work with the hospital's new owner. Endings Kayla tells EJ about Bo's miraculous recovery via Versavix. Ej admits to being excited about the money-making potential but also wants to make sure the hospital survives. With that, he presents her with a plan, including changes, that will help the institution move forward. Stephanie tells Alex about the upcoming dinner/celebration for her father, after which they can celebrate. Belle tells Shawn Douglas she is confused about her feelings. He admits he is confused as well. Shawn D says he wants to support Belle in whatever way he can. She gets it and knows she dan count on him. With that, they embrace… just as EJ arrives on the scene. Sarah tells Maggie how much she hates Xander even though she really loves him. Xander arrives in Philip's hospital room… Kate tells Roman she will be home soon. Days of Our Lives Recap: Steve Asks The Big Dude Above to Save John
On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Kiriakis Mansion: Maggie sits down with a book when Xander walks in. She asks what he's doing sneaking around her house at that hour. Xander is confused as he thought he owned half the house. Maggie can't imagine Victor would want him there after beating the fool out of Philip. Xander says he's not going to fight her for this dump (He's not wrong. Can we please get an upgrade?). That being said, he is not simply going to forget he has a daughter. Xander tries to head upstairs when Maggie stop him. She says if Sarah decides she doesn't want him seeing Victoria, she will support her. Maggie tells Xander not to forget who she is. She managed to keep Victor Kiriakis in check whenever he acted a fool and won't hesitate to do the same to him. Xander is unfamiliar with this side of Maggie. She assures Xander he isn't the only one capable of rage. Unlike other folks, she is capable of keeping hers under control so she doesn't commit unspeakable acts. Xander thinks it's like Philip faking his own death and framing Brady for murder. Maggie gets it but reminds Xander that Philip wasn't in his right mind during that time. Xander can't believe Philip's actions are always excusable whilst he never receives the same grace. Maggie can't believe his audacity saying she can't believe he's forgotten the number of times she has forgiven his behavior, fought for him and Sarah, and given him the benefits of the doubt because he'd had a rough life. That grace is now gone. She says Xander made fools of both her and Sarah because he said he had changed his ways. For making her feel like a fool, Maggie will never forgive him. Xander asks Maggie if it matters what Sarah did to his heart. Maggie says she did nothing but love him (which isn't actually true). Xander says Sarah lied to him for months about Philip stealing half his inheritance and let him build a relationship with his brother knowing about the betrayal. Suddenly, he realizes Maggie knew about Philip's fraudulent actions, as well. She says she didn't know right away but eventually. Maggie says she supported her decision to keep the truth from him. Xander can't believe she stands there judging him when she and Sarah lied to him for months. Maggie says she was trying to protect him from himself. He has proven their worries were not unfounded. Xander swigs a drink saying there's no proof he did anything to his brother. Maggie says when Philip regains consciousness, she's certain he will tell the truth. Xander says IF he regains consciousness. Maggie think Victoria is better off having no father than one like him. She bars him from going upstairs saying he's not seeing Victoria and the staff will deliver his things to his old apartment. With that, she heads upstairs to tend to her granddaughter. Before she leaves, Maggie tells Xander he is never to return to the house again. University Hospital – Lobby: Sarah is looking at a picture of Xander when Belle, Brady and Paul approach to see John. Belle asks about his condition and Sarah says Kayla is in charge of his case and can update them Just then, Marlena walks out and says their father is alive. Words begin to fail her, and Brady walks over and embraces her (I'm crying already). Kayla gets a pulse and says John is back. Marlena is back at John's bedside and Kayla tells her they will do everything they can for John. Marlena thanks her and Steve for all their love and support. Steve tells John to hang in as he has a lot left to do. Marlena sits down with the kids and says they need to find a place that's less public. Belle suggests they go to the chapel together. Marlena asks for a few minutes alone before they join her. Kayla approaches Sarah and asks if she is ok. Sarah explains about the fight with Xander and how she kicked him out of the house. She stops Kayla and asks about John. Kayla explains how bad John is and the recent cardiac arrest. He risked everything to save Bo and now she's scared he won't make it. Sarah brings Brady some strong coffee and says Kayla updated her on John's condition. He asks about Philip and Sarah says they are hopeful he will come out of his coma, but his injuries are quite severe. He tells her about his last encounter with Philip and wonders how he is getting along with Xander and what went wrong. Brady knows better than anyone what happens when Xander sees red. He wonders if Xander was responsible for Philip's beating. Sarah says she's not ready to talk about it and decides to go check on Philip. University Hospital – John's Room: Steve and Kayla sit at John's bedside. She asks her husband about getting the drug to Bo. Steve confirms saying before they went to the lab Dr Russell promised to give Bo a dose of the Sepsis drug without going through the FDA. When John recovered it, Shawn Douglas and Hope took it directly to Bo's rehab facility. Kayla is in tears when she says she hopes it works. Steve says if Bo survives, it's all because of John. University Hospital – Chapel: Marlena talks to God saying she's been asking a lot of him lately. She says how grateful she is for John's return but is there now to ask for a miracle. John has risked his life for her so many times she can't count. She says he is more than a hero to her as he has saved her very soul. Flashback: MarDevil is choking out John when he calls upon God to help him. Marlena says she and John have survived so many villains, even the devil himself. She believes John is the best man she has ever known. Marlena asks the Lord above to help John fight and recover. University Hospital – Philip's Room: Xander walks in and finds Sarah. He says he's there to check on his brother. She wonders if he came to finish the job and says she's calling security. Xander thinks she is being hysterical but Sarah is done saying she can't deal with anything else today. He inquires and Sarah says John almost died after trying to retrieve the drug Philip took. She says John and Philip are lucky to be alive and Xander is at the center of it (Is that really a fair statement?). Xander thinks she should expand her scope and blame him for everything under the son. Sarah explains Philip was trying to steal the drug to make amends with Xander and to save Bo's life. He was supposed to meet his friend to pick up the drug but couldn't because Xander was roughing him up. Had he met his friend, John would never have been in the lab and exposed to the explosion. Xander says he will take the hit but says she should take some blame, herself. If she had told him about Philip and the forged letter months ago, Philip would have been out on his ass and this entire mess could have been prevented. Sarah can't believe what he's saying and tells him to go or be thrown out (Ok, I get what Sarah is saying but everyone blaming Xander for everything seems very short-sighted). University Hospital – Lobby: Paul sits with Brady discussing all the moments he was unable to share with their father. He talks about how all his half-siblings had so much time with their father to share in all kinds of moments while he has been trying to catch up over the past few years. Flashback: John joins Paul in Seattle to celebrate Pride. Paul says not every kid like him has such a supportive parent. John pulls him in saying how proud he is of his boy (John Black Pride King!). Brady says they all hit the lottery when they got John as a dad. Paul breaks down saying that's what makes the situation so difficult. With that, Paul exits. Xander approaches Kayla at the Nurse's station and asks if the Sepsis drug was harmed in all that happened earlier in the day. Kayla says it's not a good time, but he thinks he deserves answers about the drug he was accused of stealing. With that, Kayla exits and Steve blocks him from following. Belle approaches saying she knows what he did to Philip. Xander says she knows nothing except how she defended Philip when he defrauded him out of his inheritance. Belle says she knew nothing when she represented him. Xander thinks she should be disbarred, and Belle thinks he should be in prison. She notes Bo, Philip and John might all be on death's door but thank goodness he can still possibly profit from the billion-dollar drug. With that, she exits. Steve asks Kayla about how she's doing with so many of her siblings dealing with injuries and disease. She says she has thought of John as her brother for four decades. Steve recalls a time when John was in a similar situation. Flashback: John (The Pawn) is wrapped in bandages as Steve visits him and says they can trust each other. Steve is in tears after the story and Kayla pulls him into a huge embrace. University Hospital – Chapel: Belle arrives to join her mother. Belle says John gave her medical power of attorney. Marlena doesn't want to discuss any of this mess. Belle reminds her how contentious things got the last time they had to deal with her power of attorney during a medical crisis. Flashback: Belle reminds John that Marlena signed a document saying she didn't want to be kept alive by machines and wants to tell Kayla. She says the law doesn't care about their feelings and says he doesn't have legal standing. John asks for a couple of hours but Belle says she has to act now. Belle says John didn't want to put Marlena in the same position. His directive says he wants to fight until the end and Belle thinks it's exactly what he's going to do. They both agree John is going to continue to fight to come back to them. Endings Paul tells Brady he and Andrew plan on getting married in Salem. Brady says when their dad wakes up, they have a lot to celebrate. Kayla joins Belle and Marlena in the chapel to let them know he's been moved to a room. Steve enters the chapel and asks the big dude upstairs for some help. He begins to break down in tears as he asks him to help his friend. Sarah returns home to find Maggie staring at the wall. She asks what happened and Maggie says Xander happened. They both look up at the spot where Victor's portrait hung and find it empty. Young Douglas says he can barely afford a side of fries much less a room. Roman tells the story of Frankie and Max and how they showed up one day. After a while, his parents adopted them. Doug continues his sad sack story as he is certain Roman wouldn't want him around as he is more trouble than he is worth. Doug tries to leave and Roman tells him to sit back down. He can tell Doug needs guidance, as well as a job. Roman says the job and room are his if he wants it and will loan him first and last months rent. Doug is grateful and accepts the job. Salem PD – Lobby: Shawn Douglas arrives to help Jada continue the investigation into EJ's shooting. He shows her a list of suspects with Ava at the top of the list but notes there are many others in Salem to investigate. They talk a bit about Gabi and Rafe and Jada wonders if her thinks her name should be on the list of suspects. Shawn D admits he was worried when he found her at Small Bar without her gun. However, his heart tells him she couldn't have committed such an act. Jada corrects him and says she was very capable of killing EJ after the ways he destroyed her life. That being said, she knows she locked her weapon in her desk that night before she got sauced at Small Bar. Hernandez House: Leo walks into the kitchen to find Rafe looking at his list of suspects in EJ's shooting. Leo says he is writing a story, but Rafe understands exactly what he is doing. Leo says he's doing his job, and Rafe calls him a home-wrecking grifter. Leo says he is none of those things and is a respectable investigative reporter looking into the shooting of Elvis Aron DiMera. Rafe warns him to stay away from Gabi as she has been to prison twice for crimes she didn't commit. If he finds out Leo has been rifling through Gabi's thing ever again, he will be looking for a place to live. DiMera Enterprises – Gabi Chic: Javi arrives, and she shows him the Q3 numbers for Gabi Chic. She notes all the errors in the document. He apologizes as he thought he fixed it. Gabi rails at him about his careless mistakes and tells him to get it done now. He apologizes again and wonders the true source of her ire. Gabi apologizes for yelling at him and explains she has a lot on her mind. Javi understands and she says she's worried about the company but also her freedom as both their boyfriends are trying to tie her to EJ's shooting. With that, she goes off on Javi for defending Leo rifling through her purse. Javi admits his boyfriend is a bit extra, which further annoys his cousin. Javi says no one truly believes she shot EJ. Gabi calms and tells him to get back to work while she grabs lunch. After she leaves, Leo arrives with lunch for his beloved. Javi freaks out and tells Leo he shouldn't be there. Just then, Gabi returns and throws him out. Javi asks everyone to chill out. Gabi grabs her purse and says she doesn't want Leo there when she comes back. Javi says working for his cousin has become a nightmare but can't leave his cousin. Leo notes continuing to work with Gabi could ruin their relationship forever. Choi Digs – Sophia's Room: Tate arrives to find Sophia curled up on her bed. She is devastated because she thinks her life is over. Sophia is so frustrated they were so close to the adoption. Not only did that fall through, but now the remainder of her senior year is wrecked. Tate notes she will soon turn eighteen and will be legally able to make her own decisions. When she's a legal adult, her mother can't stop her from doing anything, including putting the baby up for adoption. Sophia can't seem to comprehend the possibility of her going against her mother's wishes. She says she has never defied her mother for anything that really mattered. That being said, Sophia knows she and Tate have their whole lives ahead and is determined to stand up to her mother. Tate has a moment alone and decides it's a good idea to call Holly from Sophia's room. He wants to know if he can stop by as he has some good news. They agree to meet up at the pub in a little while. As he hangs up, Sophia returns and she confirms she is still on board with moving forward with the adoption. Tate goes to leave and Sophia correctly guesses he wants to tell Holly the good news. They enjoy a bit more small talk and he exits, leaving Sophia to rub her pregnant belly. Hernandez House: Rafe cracks open a beer when he gets a call from Shawn Douglas asking when he planned on turning in his service weapon. Rafe grouses about Arnold Finegar and then says he will get it back as soon as he can. He has been a bit busy being processed back in at the FBI. With that, they hang up. Gabi returns home as Rafe guzzles his beer. She goes in about the demands of work and her run-in with Leo. Rafe asks if Gabi borrowed his gun to shoot EJ. Gabi can't believe yet another person is accusing her of attempted murder. Rafe stops her saying he knows she took his service weapon the night of the shooting. He also saw there were no bullets missing. Rafe urges his sister to be honest with him. Salem PD – Lobby: Jada thanks Shawn Douglas for making the call to Rafe as she had no desire to do so. Just then, Leo arrives on the scene. He wants a comment about EJ's shooting. The way he figure it the suspect list has been whittled down to Gabi, Rafe and Jada. She is taken aback but Leo doubles down. Shawn Douglas interrupts but Jada tells him to stand down. Jada looks up, says the Salem PD has no comment and tells Leo to exit. Brady Pub: Holly arrives to meet Tate and he gives her the update about his conversation with Sophia. He switches topics and asks if maybe there is a chance for them to get back together. Just then, Roman walks up and asks to borrow Tate for a job in the back. After he exits, young Douglas walks up which puts a huge smile on Holly's face. Days of Our Lives Recap: EJ Gets Dressed Down by Chanel Endings Leo returns with more food for Javi and urges his boyfriend to quit his job. Javi is more than considering it and Leo asks what he is passionate about. Javi agrees to tell him more after they chow down. He clears off Gabi's desk and says he wants dessert first. Gabi admits she took his gun to confront EJ the night of the shooting. When she approached the doors, she overheard him arguing with someone. She couldn't see the person but knows EJ was arguing with a man. Gabi decided to exit before she was found out. Rafe asks again and Gabi says she didn't shoot EJ. Rafe hesitates before saying he believes her. Gabi says when she was leaving the property she saw Ava who heard something, got in her car and sped away. Jada is annoyed they have to deal with Leo. Shawn Douglas wants to chat with Chad but Jada tells him to stand down as they are supposed to be transparent with the press. Shawn D apologizes for ever doubting her involvement in the shooting. Holly is thrilled to find out young Douglas not only has a job but also a room. Doug thinks Roman is the nicest man in the world. They embrace just as Tate returns. Holly tries to explain but Tate can't help but be a douche canoe. Holly follows him out but doesn't catch him. Doug joins her and Holly congratulates him again as things are looking up.
