That's The Way Love Goes: Janet Jackson & Maxwell Are NOT Dating Despite Cozy ‘Cabaret' Outing
Despite their recent outing, where they were spotted hand-in-hand, Janet Jackson and Maxwell are reportedly not dating. But, according to reports from TMZ , sources with direct knowledge insist Jackson and Maxwell have nothing going on romantically. The pair have been good friends for years and years, and, according to insiders, that is still where their relationship stands today. Speculation about Janet and Maxwell possibly being a couple started to skyrocket after they arrived hand-in-hand at the 1,500th performance of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club on Monday evening in London. The 'That's the Way Love Goes' singer was flashing a big smile as she led Maxwell into the performance, and the friends looked closer than normal during this particular outing. Jackson has been divorced since 2017, and in the years since, she's kept her love life on the down low. Maxwell isn't publicly dating anyone, either, but unfortunately for hopeful fans, that doesn't mean anything is going on between these two. These rumors come nearly a decade after Jackson divorced her ex-husband Wissam Al Mana after five years of marriage. Together, the two share son, Eissa, 8. '[Being a mother is] the most beautiful thing. I'm so thankful God allowed me to have this experience, this journey in my life,' she told the BBC in July 2024. 'And I love every single minute of it.' In the same interview, Janet joked about her love life, asking, 'How many times have I been married now? Three I think.' Prior to Al Mana, she was previously married to René Elizondo Jr. and James DeBarge. In another interview with The Guardian a few months later, Jackson revealed she was single, but said she feels like she has broken free of control in her relationships. 'I'm single, so I pray to God that I might have different lenses on these eyes than I did before,' she said. 'I know that if someone were to come along…even if I didn't recognize it, I guarantee you my friends would shake the shit out of me and say, 'What are you doing?!' But I think I'm seeing it through different lenses now. I think I am breaking that pattern.' However, two audience members might have stolen the show before it even began. On Monday, Janet Jackson arrived at the famous Kit Kat Club in London with some elite arm candy: Maxwell. We've seen the singers look friendly at events before, but the pair walking in holding hands made fans hope they have a little 'Sumthin' Sumthin'' romantic going on. The ultra-talented two stars didn't exactly pack on PDA to hard-launch a love affair. Still, this musical match-up made a lovely pair, smiling ear-to-ear on their elated 'Escapade.' Do the viral clips and pics give 'date night?' Janet was stunning in an oversized all-white suit, tailored to perfection, and her hair pulled into a sleek braided bun. Maxwell absolutely matched her chic in a crisp pinstripe suit with a striped shirt and tie, adding to the suspected couple aesthetic. We truly love to see it! Eddie Redmayne feeling ‘such pride' as Cabaret marks 1,500th show in London
The Day Of The Jackal star, 43, led the West End revival of the show, alongside Irish actress Jessie Buckley, in 2021 and won an Olivier for his role as the Emcee, the flamboyant master of ceremonies. 'I feel such pride in what the show is, and having been some part of helping put it together, and I've been lucky enough to come and see almost all the cast who have taken over and really the show in its essence', he told the PA news agency at a special gala night. 'I think our director's version of it is a celebration of the individual, and watching how the show shifts and changes as each actor brings their own entirety of themselves to it has been a real wonder and nothing makes me happier when I'm in London and I see a Cabaret poster go by on a bus, and I know that it's continuing to thrill each season, and kind of reflect what's going on in the world.' The show, which features music from composer John Kander, is set in Berlin during the jazz age as the Nazis rise to power. Set in the seedy Kit Kat Club, which acts as a safe space for outsiders, the story explores themes of sexuality and fascism. Redmayne told PA: 'Each time Cabaret has ever been put on, it's felt resonant, and it just, sadly, feels more and more resonant daily, and as John (Kander) says, he hopes one day it won't. A post shared by Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club (@kitkatclubldn) 'But, in the meantime, sort of reflecting learning from our history is pretty important, but doing so in this joyful, bacchanalian, sort of, celebration of the individual is special.' Since Redmayne's performance, a number of other actors have played the Emcee at the Playhouse Theatre including Bad Education actor Layton Williams, Olivier Award-winning actor Luke Treadaway, US star Billy Porter, and It's A Sin actor, Callum Scott Howells. Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood, model Cara Delevingne, musical theatre star Marisha Wallace, and musician Self Esteem are among those who have played Sally Bowles. The musical theatre production is partly based on Christopher Isherwood's 1939 novel Goodbye to Berlin which tells of the glamour, danger, excess and repression of Berlin society. Bridgerton actress Hannah Dodd is currently playing Sally Bowles while TikTok star Rob Madge is starring as the Emcee. Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club is currently booking until Saturday March 28 2026.
