Spartans target, 3-star DL Nehemiah Kolone commits to BYU over MSU, Oklahoma State
A Michigan State defensive lineman target has announced his commitment to a Big 12 school instead of the Spartans. Nehemiah Kolone of Stillwater, Okla. announced his commitment to the BYU Cougars on Monday evening. Kolone committed to the Cougars over his other two finalists of Michigan State and Oklahoma State. Kolone is a three-star defensive lineman with a recruiting rating of 86.93 in the 247Sports composite system. He is ranked as the No. 104 defensive lineman and No. 947 overall prospect in the 2026 class. Michigan State was once considered the favorite for Kolone's commitment but he most recently visited with BYU in late June and one can assume that visit went well. This commitment from Kolone to the Cougars could also be telling of another potential defensive lineman prospect being in the mix for the Spartans since they are still in need of one more commit at that position. So we will need to monitor the Spartans on the recruiting trail to see if someone else could be joining their class based on the commitment from Kolone to BYU on Monday. One of the remaining key targets on the Spartans' 2026 recruiting board will reportedly announce his commitment tonight. Nehemiah Kolone of Stillwater, Okla. will announce his college decision on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET. Kolone will be deciding between three finalists: Michigan State, BYU and Oklahoma State. Kolone is a three-star defensive lineman with a recruiting rating of 86.93 in the 247Sports composite system. He is ranked as the No. 104 defensive lineman and No. 947 overall prospect in the class. Currently, BYU is the forecasted favorite to land Kolone's commitment. There is one prediction on 247Sports in favor of the Cougars to get Kolone's commitment. Nehemiah Kolone of Stillwater, Okla. has reportedly cancelled his upcoming official visit to Kansas scheduled for this upcoming weekend. This notable update in Kolone's recruitment was reported by on Tuesday morning. Kolone is still slated to take an official visit to BYU on June 20, though, which remains as his final official visit planned for this recruiting cycle. Kolone is a three-star defensive lineman prospect in the 2026 class. He holds a recruiting rating of 86.89 and ranks as the No. 86 defensive lineman in 247Sports' composite rankings for the class. He is also listed as the No. 850 overall prospect in the class. Kolone took an official visit to Michigan State this past weekend, which reportedly went really well. So the cancellation of his upcoming visit to Kansas only furthers that narrative. It appears Michigan State, Oklahoma State and BYU remain as the three teams in contention for his commitment at this time. Oklahoma 3-star DL Nehemiah Kolone locks in official visit to Michigan State Three-star defensive lineman Nehemiah Kolone of Stillwater, Okla. will take an official visit to Michigan State in June Michigan State football has added another defensive lineman to its official visits guest list for next month. Three-star defensive lineman Nehemiah Kolone announced on Wednesday that he plans to take an official visit to Michigan State in June. According to Kolone's post on social media platform X, he will visit Michigan State on June 6. Kolone is a three-star prospect in the 2026 class and holds a 247Sports rating of 86. Kolone is from Stillwater, Okla. and was first offered by the Spartans in November of last year. Kolone ranks as the No. 79 defensive lineman in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 17 player from Oklahoma and No. 814 overall prospect in the class. Along with Michigan State, Kolone holds offers from nearly 10 schools, according to 247Sports.. Kansas, BYU, Arizona, Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Tulsa are the other schools to offer him. Kolone also has an official visit lined up with Kansas for next month.
