Report – Genoa & Feyenoord Stars Shore Up Inter Milan Shortlist Of Targets To Strengthen Defense

Genoa's Koni De Winter and Feyenoord's David Hancko are the main backup options on Inter Milan's list of defensive targets. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. One of the remaining priorities for Inter Milan this summer is to sign a defender. The Nerazzurri are keen to lay the groundwork for the future of their backline considering the ages of key players like Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi. And there is no question who Inter's top target is. Parma defender Giovanni Leoni is nineteen years of age, and Inter fully believe that he has all the qualities to be their future in defense. However, negotiations with Parma for Leoni will not be easy. The Emilian club don't want to sell the teenager, whilst their valuation would be at least €40 million. De Winter & Hancko Shore Up Inter List Of Defensive Targets Therefore, the Gazzetta dello Sport report, Inter are also working on a couple other fronts. One possible target in defense for the Nerazzurri would be Genoa's Koni De Winter. The former Juventus defender has enjoyed an excellent season with Genoa. Therefore, he has convinced Inter that he has the right qualities for their back three. The Grifone would demand a fee of €25-30 million to sell De Winter this summer. Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Inter have also identified Feyenoord defender David Hancko as a target. The Dutch giants would demand a fee of around €25-30 million for the 28-year-old, similar to what Genoa want for De Winter.

Inter Continue to Pursue Parma and Genoa Defenders

Inter bolstered other roles in the early going, but their dated intention of getting younger in the back hasn't changed, nor have their main targets, Giovanni Leoni and Koni De Winter, whom they have scouted all year long. According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Nerazzurri are on great terms with both Parma and Genoa. Christian Chivu's appointment tips the scale in favor of the Italian prodigy. However, it'll take a significant investment to convince the counterparty, which would like to keep him a while longer. The Scudetto runner-ups just brokered the loan of Valentin Carboni to the Rossoblù. Advertisement Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter covet Leoni, but the Ducali might budge only in front of a €40M offer, while the Liguria-based team could agree to sell De Winter for €25M. Feyenoord's David Hancko represents an older fallback. The Nerazzurri would prefer to straight-up fortify their rearguard without losing anybody. They'd be open to making a 'plusvalenza' on Yann Aurel Bisseck only for mammoth offers, which haven't arrived. He's highly likely to stay. If there's an odd man out, it'll be Francesco Acerbi, but the front office and the coaching staff are OK with keeping him in a reduced role. They will let him go if he receives an enticing proposal, but won't pay a €500k clause present in his contract just to get rid of him. Our Take on Inter Tracking Leoni and De Winter There was a lot of impetus about this in the months leading up to the summer, and it's strange that they haven't acted on it sooner. They might be waiting for Parma, from which they already poached Chivu and Ange-Yoan Bonny, to unbend about partying ways with their prospect.
