Steam VR Hit Virtual Hunter Takes Aim at Console and Standalone VR

Following its well-received debut on PC VR earlier this year, Virtual Hunter is expanding its territory. Developed by Korpi Games and published by VRKiwi, this immersive hunting simulator is officially heading to PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest platforms in 2025. Known for its deep realism, Virtual Hunter sets itself apart from the pack by focusing on the authenticity of the hunt-encouraging patience, observation, and a thoughtful approach to wildlife tracking. The game delivers a massive, open-world environment inspired by real-world European hunting terrain. Players can expect a highly immersive experience with dynamic day-night cycles, changing weather, and lifelike animal behavior. The animal roster includes red deer, wild boar, pheasants, European hares, red foxes, fallow deer, and roe deer, each reacting to the player's movement, scent, and noise in believable ways. One of the standout features is the arsenal of realistic hunting tools available-ranging from bolt-action rifles and shotguns to pistols and a recurve bow-each with unique ballistics and use cases. Complementing this is a system of calls and decoys to help hunters approach their targets more strategically. Virtual Hunter also boasts an impressive co-op mode, allowing up to six players to hunt, explore, or simply enjoy nature together. Another fan-favorite feature is the customizable Trophy Lodge, where players can proudly display their most memorable kills. This element has been praised as one of the most satisfying trophy systems in any VR game to date. Since its early access launch in January 2025 on Steam, the game has built a loyal community. Many players commend the game's immersive pace, with one remarking that they've spent more time exploring the map than hunting, and another praising how natural the bow hunting feels, especially for real-life archers. With the console and standalone VR versions now in the works, Korpi Games is aiming to bring all of Virtual Hunter's rich features to PS VR2 and Meta Quest with optimized controls, visuals, and performance. Though no specific release date has been announced, fans can expect more updates from the developers soon. In the meantime, hunting enthusiasts and virtual adventurers alike can look forward to experiencing one of the most grounded and rewarding VR simulations coming to new platforms in 2025.
