On Tuesday, Koushik was handed the no objection certificate (NOC) by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! A wise choice for his career A mistake, he should stay in Karnataka It's a practical decision I have mixed feelings about it Koushik, who relies more on accuracy and less on pace, was ignored a few years ago, but made a comeback to become an integral part of the team. Last season, with regulars Prasidh Krishna and Vidwath Kaverappa unavailable, and Vyshak Vijaykumar picking up an injury midway through the season, Koushik showed admirable character to shoulder responsibility in all formats. Speaking to TOI about his decision to switch allegiance, the joint highest wicket-taker (18 scalps) in Karnataka's Vijay Hazare Trophy win last season, said: "I'm 32, and for the past couple of months I've been thinking about my future. I wanted to leave my home state on a high. I know I have a few good years of cricket left in me and felt the time was ripe for me to make way for youngsters in Karnataka." While he said he would miss his home turf, Koushik has pegged the call as a practical rather than an emotional one. "I've been a part of Karnataka teams that have won the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophies, but I wish I could have helped Karnataka win the Ranji Trophy as well." Koushik, who made his limited opportunities count, leaves behind big shoes for youngsters like Abhilash Shetty and Vidhyadhar Patel to fill. Faster e-challans & fine payment over traffic violations in offing
The traffic department is all set to expedite the process of issuing challans and making payments faster in connection with traffic violations in Ranchi city. Moreover, a string of other measures are in the offing and will be implemented soon to smoothen traffic movement. While reviewing the traffic system of Ranchi recently, Inspector General (IG) Manoj Koushik instructed that challans issued to traffic violators should not take too long to be issued and must be dealt with on the next day of the rule violation itself. In view of the large number of traffic violations happening every day, he also directed that the unit vetting the e-challans generated out of CCTVs should be activated. He said that the assessment of the number of personnel required for the task should be determined at the earliest. IG Koushik also discussed methods to simplify fine payment with UPI being considered one of the modes. It may be stated that there are around 600 CCTVs across Ranchi city which are used to detect vehicles violating traffic norms and also generate e-challans. While talking on the issue, the IG further said, "The aim of the measure is not to punish people but to deter them from violating traffic norms in the future. I have also instructed the traffic department to carry out at least one traffic awareness programme every week. In Indore, there is a dedicated team which usually carries out two awareness programmes everyday." He added the repeat offenders would, however, face serious consequences. The IG also asked police to avoid manual traffic management as far as possible. He stated that traffic lights at inappropriate places should also be relocated. A plan is under way to improve road engineering of various pathways in the city, he added. Following the IG's instructions, traffic SP Kailash Karmali held a meeting with officials and representatives of the auto rickshaw association on road safety and security of women in passenger vehicles. He also stated auto rickshaw drivers should have a dress code and name plates. He added that traffic police would be stationed at bus stands, railway stations and airport from 7 pm to 11 pm.

Police stns turn into dumping grounds for seized vehicles
1 2 3 Ranchi: Many police stations in the state capital are now overcrowded with seized vehicles, including trucks, cars, and bikes, causing an acute space shortage on their premises. A case in point is Chutia police station. Despite having a small campus, the compound holds several vehicles which were seized for various traffic violations. With its campus now full, the officers are now keeping dozens of vehicles, including cars and trucks, on the road, causing traffic impediments. On Tuesday, there was a large traffic inflow in the Chutia area due to a nearby diversion, causing congestion. The seized vehicles stationed in front of the station intensified the problem. Talking about the issue, a local police officer stated, "Some of the vehicles are lying in the station for a very long time. We hardly have parking space for our staff inside the premise." An officer of Sukhdevnagar police station said, "Due to a shortage of space, we also have to keep one vehicle over the other at the station here." Seized articles are kept as exhibits of courts in various cases and can be disposed of only after the processes related to them are completed. This company of Ratan Tata decides to cut costs by Rs 115000000000, the company is…, will focus on…
Tata Steel, a company under the Tata Group, has announced a cost-cutting initiative. Executive Director and CFO Koushik Chatterjee revealed that the company wants to achieve cost reductions of Rs 11,500 crore by controlling manageable expenses in various geographic regions. Cost-cutting usually means reduction in unnecessary expenditures and improving profitability and operational efficiency. In an interaction with analysts, Koushik said that he will review the company's cost transformation program across different regions to assess progress and set targets for the next 12-18 months. The structural cost takeout across all entities of Tata Steel during FY25 was about Rs 6,600 crore focusing on fixed cost takeout, efficiencies in manufacturing, procurement, raw material optimisation with leaner coal blends and fixed overheads, he said. 'Looking ahead to FY2026, our focus continues to be on controllable factors, and we are targeting further cost takeouts of almost Rs 11,500 crores, roughly about Rs 1.3 billion across geographies by focusing on controllable costs,' the CFO said. The statement has come at a time when the company is expanding its Kalinganagar plant capacity to 8 million tonnes amid transition to green steel making processes in the UK and the Netherlands. In the two foreign markets, the company has already announced job cuts. In Q4 FY25, Tata Steel reduced expenses to Rs 54,167.61 crore from Rs 56,496.88 crore in the year-ago period. The company has also posted an over two-fold increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,200.88 crore in the March 2025 quarter. Speaking further on cost takeouts, Koushik said that in India, the company intends to deliver savings of Rs 4,000 crore by focusing on operating KPIs (key performance indicators), employee productivity, supply chain optimisation, coupled with investment in projects with low payback period. There is a specific focus on conversion cost, and aim is to optimise conversion costs by about Rs 1,000 – 1,200 per tonne. In the UK, Tata Steel intends to continue progressing on achieving a lean structure by further reduction in fixed costs of 29 per cent YoY of around 220 million pounds. Key levers range from optimising the cost of substrate and upgradation of IT infrastructure to reduce corporate overheads and rationalisation of downstream operations to improve the profitability. 'Our total fixed cost in FY2024 was about 995 million pounds, which reduced to about 762 million in FY2025 pounds, and we target to bring it to around 540 million pounds in the next financial year,' he said. The company has secured 500 million pounds support from the UK government for the transition to scrap-based electric arc manufacturing. (With Inputs From PTI)
