Aruna Holdings Acquires 80 Percent Stake in CNRC, $1B Investment Eyed

This article was first published on Rigzone here Private investment firm Aruna Holdings LLC has acquired an 80 percent ownership interest in Cunningham Natural Resources Corp. (CNRC). Under the agreement, CNRC has changed its name to Surya Oil and Gas Corp. and appointed a new board of directors and management. The deal also includes the licensing and deployment of Surya Energy Services' proprietary Kubera technology, CNRC said in a news release. The company said it plans to register with existing oil and gas partners in India for energy trading and investment opportunities later in the year. Additionally, CNRC said it is working on investment commitments of up to more than $1 billion, with up to $50 million earmarked for the development of existing and new wells for its subsidiary Cunningham Energy LLC in West Virginia, Texas and other states. CNRC's new board is led by Chairman Manish Patel, joined by new chief executive officer Hemal Rathod and Director Frank Kristan, who will provide continuity to the company's past operations and organization, according to the release. CNRC said its new management team is made up of industry veterans from the energy, healthcare, hospitality, banking and legal industries, 'collectively bringing over 100 years of aggregated expertise in emerging and established markets'. The company's president, Michael Gavenchak, is a former practicing attorney, business owner, and experienced operational executive. Ryan Cuningham, with over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, will continue as general manager of the company's subsidiary, Cunningham Energy. Surya is part of the agreement due to its association with Aruna Holdings. Surya's Kubera technology 'provides cutting-edge hydrocarbon detection with far better effectiveness than any other technology available, redefining drilling efficiency with the success rates for new well drilling at an impressive up to 95 percent effectiveness,' according to the release. Take control of your THOUSANDS of Oil & Gas jobs on Search Now >> After an in-depth initial review of Cunningham's current leases, Kubera technology analysts have pinpointed 'significant opportunities' to expand and optimize resource extraction. The existence of dozens of Cunningham wells will reduce the costs to tap those reserves, since new wells will not need to be started in many cases, CNRC said. Kristan said, "Meeting with Surya's partners in New Delhi in April, cemented our shared vision for a future where advanced technology and strategic investments drive the energy sector forward. We are excited to leverage Kubera's proven capabilities to capitalize on the rich potential of our leases and contribute to a transformative era in natural resource development'. Rathod said, "Aruna's participation in CNRC and the company's new management team positions CNRC at the forefront of technological advancement in oil and gas exploration. Surya's Kubera™ technology is a game changer, and this partnership signifies a huge leap forward for both CNRC and Surya as we work to maximize growth, asset potential and revenue, while supporting the ambitious targets of Mission 500'. Mission 500, a strategic trade initiative launched in the year by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to increase trade from $190 billion to $500 billion by 2030 and includes a focus on energy investments, according to the release. New Telugu movies stream illegally in HD: 100+ piracy sites active; TFCC filed 15 complaints in 18 months

HYDERABAD: A quick glance at movie piracy websites—some accessible directly in India and others only through VPNs— reveals a grim picture for the Telugu film industry: nearly all the latest Telugu releases are freely available in HD and DVD-quality formats for streaming or torrent download. Despite the industry's best efforts, no big-budget or hit Telugu film is immune. According to anti-video piracy cell of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, around 100 active piracy websites are currently in operation, offering illegal access to newly released films. As of now, titles like Kannappa, Kubera, Badmashulu, and Thug Life—all of which released in June—are already listed for download and streaming. 1 in 2 films gets pirated On average, about 150 Telugu films are released each year, and over 50% of them are pirated. The first illegal copies often emerge from cellphone recordings inside theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, uploaded within hours of release. 'High definition pirated copies often come from northern states like Bihar, where cameras mounted on tripods are used inside theatres. The video and audio are recorded separately and then synced during editing before uploading,' said a TFCC representative. In many cases, the original audio is swapped in during post-editing to make the pirated version more appealing to local viewers. 10-15 plaints in 18 months Pirated prints originate from overseas screenings, especially in regions with large Telugu-speaking diaspora, making the first leak nearly impossible to contain. In the past 18 months, the TFCC's anti-piracy cell has filed 10 to 15 complaints with the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates, resulting in four FIRs. 'We act the moment a producer alerts us about a pirated copy circulating online,' said Y Mahindra Babu, project head of the TFCC anti-video piracy cell. 'Last year, we helped police arrest a person for uploading a pirated version of Pushpa 2 on his YouTube channel... We regularly write to I&B ministry seeking to block such websites whenever we identify them,' he said. Cyber crime officials say most piracy websites are hosted on international servers, making enforcement difficult. 'Even if one site is blocked, a mirror site appears within hours—slightly modifying URL, but keeping the same pirated content active,' an officer said

Jim Sarbh: Nagarjuna brings this easy vibe on the set

Jim Sarbh and Nagarjuna Jim Sarbh , known for his performance in Padmaavat and web shows like Rocket Boys and Made in Heaven, made his Telugu cinema debut this year with Sekhar Kammula's Kubera. The film, which also stars Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna, marked a linguistic leap for Sarbh, who took on the challenge of delivering his dialogues in Telugu. 'Learning the lines in Telugu was a challenge. It was like training a different muscle; otherwise, the words would swim in my head, so I really had to do the homework,' the actor said, reflecting on his experience with the language. Discussing his experience of working with the ensemble cast, Sarbh revealed that while he didn't share many scenes with Dhanush, he had the opportunity to work closely with veteran actor Nagarjuna. 'I didn't have many scenes with Dhanush. We were kind of kept separately for most of the film. I had a lot of scenes with Nagarjuna sir and he's such a great guy. He brings this easy vibe on the set as he's so relaxed,' he said.
