700 cops, drones & CCTVs to ensure safe kanwar yatra
1 2 Prayagraj: To ensure a secure kanwar yatra, top officials have implemented a multi-layered security plan to maintain strict surveillance along the route between Prayagraj and Varanasi ahead of the yatra's start from July 11. This comprehensive setup includes extensive CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, barricading at Ganga ghats and key routes, one-way traffic for kanwariyas and mobile police pickets. Around 700 cops will also be assigned duties at the static points, and a separate traffic and diversion plan, will be enforced. As thousands of kanwariyas are expected to converge on Varanasi's Kashi Vishwanath corridor to offer jalabhishek with holy Ganga water, police are finalising detailed security and traffic arrangements. The devotees will collect water from Sangam, Dashaswamedh, and other ghats in Prayagraj, prompting authorities to prepare for a massive influx of pilgrims. Remarkably, the Prayagraj-Varanasi route will be one way to offer adequate space for devotees of Lord Shiva for their free-flow movements towards Varanasi from Prayagraj. As roads from Sangam nose to Shastri bridge and adjoining areas have already been widened during the Maha Kumbh, this will help traffic police authorities regulate flow during kawar yatra. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 岐阜市で見つけた美しい空き家、驚きの価格 価値の高い空き家 | 検索広告 続きを読む Undo DCP (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Singh told TOI, "Senior cops have drafted an elaborate security plan for kanwar yatra and a specific traffic plan will be introduced." Moreover, cops will use drones and CCTV networks for the safety of kanwariyas, who will be embarking on a journey from Sangam and Daraganj ghat to Varanasi to offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiva in Kashi during the auspicious month of Shravan. Apart from roping in drones and additional police pickets, police will also set up barricades and keep ambulances on standby to help kanwariyas. The department has also drafted an elaborate traffic plan for devotees, which will be effective from July 10 onwards. Besides, special police teams will be deployed at the static points, and Prayagraj police will be coordinating with their Bhadohi and Varanasi counterparts to ensure the safety and security of kanwariyas. The kanwariyas are expected to pass through Daraganj and Jhunsi before arriving at the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway. Cops will be deployed at strategic points like Shastri bridge, Andhawa turn, and Sarayinayat, through which a large number of these kanwariyas are expected to pass. The devotees will assemble at Sangam and Daraganj ghat to take water from the Sangam and cover the hundreds of km distance to different temples of Lord Shiva, including the Padila Mahadeo temple in Tharwai (Prayagraj) and the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

Murder victim's kin arrange car, witnessed crime: Police
Ludhiana: Sadar police have nominated a relative of Kuldeep Singh, who was personal assistant to a former MP of Shiromani Akali Dal, in the case of his murder. According to the police, his relative arranged the car used in the crime and was present when Kuldeep was hacked to death with swords at the Missing Link-2 area near Dhandra Road on Friday night. The assailants first hit Kuldeep Singh's car, forcing him to stop. When he alighted from the car, they attacked him brutally with swords. A woman who lives nearby recorded a video of the gruesome murder. Police managed to obtain the registration number plate of the car, a Maruti Swift, used by the assailants and found that its owner runs a taxi service. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP-South), Harjinder Singh said, "When police reached the taxi driver whose car was used by the murderers, the name of Doraha resident Inderpal Singh came to fore. Inderpal Singh is a relative of the victim, Kuldeep Singh. The taxi owner said that Inderpal called him and asked for the car. Thereafter, police nominated Inderpal Singh in the FIR." Another police official said that Inderpal was also present at the crime scene. Investigation so far revealed that Inderpal and Kuldeep had a property dispute, he said, adding that this could have been the murder motive. Inderpal and his aides are on the run and raids are on for their arrest. Right at the outset of the investigation, police suspected the involvement of someone who knew that the victim would have access to his licenced pistol in the car. To disarm the victim, the accused forced him out of the car by ramming into it from behind. Police said that the elderly man had been living abroad with his wife and children. He came to India some time back for work related to a property case. On Friday night, Kuldeep left his farmhouse near Gill Bypass and was heading towards his residence on Pakhowal Road, when he was intercepted and fatally assaulted. MSID:: 122143147 413 |

Punjab: Property dealer hacked to death on busy Ludhiana road
A Ludhiana-based property dealer, Kuldeep Singh, 65, was hacked to death on the busy Dhandra Road on Friday night. A video grab of the attack in Ludhiana. The incident, which was captured on video by a passerby and later circulated on social media, shows a man using a sword to hit the victim multiple times, near the Missing Link 2 approach road. Despite the victim's repeated cries for help, no one intervened. Eyewitnesses said the elderly man was screaming in pain while one of the men kept attacking him mercilessly with a sword. Kuldeep was the late Akali Dal MP Jagdev Singh Talwandi's ex-personal assistant. According to the police, the victim left his farmhouse in a car when a group of men in a Maruti Swift car began following him. 'They rear-ended Kuldeep's vehicle. When he stepped out to check the damage, they overpowered him and attacked him with swords until he collapsed. The attackers then fled the spot in their car,' said sub-inspector Avneet Kaur, Sadar police station in-charge. Police believe the murder was pre-planned. 'Kuldeep owned a licensed pistol. It's likely that the attackers were aware of this, and they hit his vehicle intentionally to lure him out of the car,' added the SI. The deceased was settled abroad with his wife and kids. He had returned to India a few days in connection with some property-related issue. Initial investigations suggest that an old property dispute or personal rivalry may be behind the attack. 'He had some past disputes, but no fresh conflict has come to our notice so far. We are exploring all angles,' she said. Police have recovered a video of the incident shot by a passerby. The absence of CCTV cameras near the crime scene is making it difficult for cops to identify the vehicle or the attackers clearly. The police are scanning other surveillance footage from nearby roads and are conducting raids to nab the culprits.

1 crore lies dormant as govt sits on prepaid auto policy
1 2 Jaipur: The state govt has delayed implementing a policy for pre-paid auto-rickshaw stands for nearly five years. As a result, a nationalised bank in Jaipur has declared the account—meant for managing these stands—dormant due to lack of transactions over an extended period. According to members of auto-rickshaw associations, the account holds around Rs1 crore, collected as a Rs2 service charge from commuters at pre-paid stands. The amount was meant to serve as a benevolent fund for auto drivers and their families but remains untouched in the absence of a clear policy. "It was the Congress govt who introduced the pre-paid auto rickshaw stands in the city way back in 1999, but suddenly, after 21 years, the Congress govt again closed these pre-paid booths, citing there is no pre-paid booth policy in the state. Since then, this bank account is lying unused and was declared dormant by the bank," said Kuldeep Singh, president of an auto rickshaw association in Jaipur. The account was opened in 1999 with the Chaura Rasta branch of a nationalised bank. Two representatives of the transport department and two representatives of the two auto rickshaw associations were the signatories. An old-timer recalled that in 1999, the Congress govt started these pre-paid booths with three aims. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dermatologist: Just Add 1 Drop Of This Household Item To Any Dark Spot And Wait 3 Minutes Undo First, to ensure that the passengers, especially at the railway station, airport, and Sindhi Camp bus stands, need not bargain with the drivers and can pay govt-approved fare at these booths. Second, to keep a record of the drivers and the passengers along with the items they are carrying with them for security reasons. Third, to utilise the service charge accumulated from these booths for the welfare of the auto drivers and their families. "The fare at these pre-paid booths was on par with the metered fare. Passengers needed to pay a service charge of Rs 2 for pre-paid autos, and this charge remained the same till these booths were withdrawn. For 21 years, a service charge amounting to more than Rs 80 lakhs was collected and deposited in the bank account. We did not utilise a single penny in the 21 years, and now the account has been declared dormant," stated Umrao Quershi, the President of the second auto rickshaw union in Jaipur.
