Kol records eastern India's first heart rhythm device implant op

Kolkata: Eastern India's first-ever case of Bachmann's Bundle (BB) Pacing and Left Bundle Branch Area Pacing (LBBAP), a dual strategy that mimics the heart's natural electrical rhythm and supplements the pacemaker, was performed at a city private hospital. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This process helps to prevent arrhythmia by maintaining the heart's 'electro-physiological functioning' more efficiently. This pioneering heart rhythm management was applied to a 33-year-old male patient, Ravi (name changed), a car driver by profession from Tripura, Agartala. He was admitted to Medica Superspecialty Hospital last week. Ravi was suffering from sick sinus syndrome and intermittent atrioventricular block, a type of heart block where the electrical signals between the heart's upper chambers (atria) and lower chambers (ventricles) are intermittently delayed or blocked, compounded by episodes of irregular heartbeat. The condition caused Ravi's heart rate to drop dangerously to 25 beats per minute, leaving him dizzy, breathless, and vulnerable to permanent arrhythmias. Recognising the need for a long-term solution, a medical team led by Cathlab director and interventional cardiologist Dilip Kumar opted for the revolutionary combination of BB Pacing and LBBAP. "This approach prevents complications associated with conventional pacemakers, such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, a heart condition where the atria beat irregularly and rapidly, as well as a condition where the heart muscle weakens and its ability to pump blood effectively is reduced as a result of prolonged right ventricular pacing from a pacemaker. The procedure was performed using a specialised catheter," said Kumar. Kumar added, "We are proud to be at the forefront of next-generation cardiac care. This first case of complete physiological pacing marks a transformative step in our journey. It not only offers a more natural and safer solution for young patients with complex rhythm disorders but also sets the stage for broader adoption of physiological pacing across India." "I was struggling with breathlessness and other health issues that made it difficult for me to work and live normally. It was a worrying time for me. But just a day after the surgery, I felt a big difference. I am now living a normal life again," he said. The procedure cost an additional Rs 10,000 over and above the cost of a pacemaker.

Biz school aspirant duped of 11 lakh

Kolkata: Police registered an FIR against two individuals and their associates for allegedly defrauding an MBA aspirant of Rs 11 lakh by promising admission to reputable business schools. Cops said several others were also duped in a similar fashion. The complaint was filed by Ayush Kumar from Jharkhand at Park Street Police Station early on Saturday, alleging that the accused operated from an office on Mirza Ghalib Street. Country's first honey beekeeping centre to be upgraded as museum

Kottayam: The country's first honey beekeeping centre in Thazhakkara panchayat in Mavelikkara, Alappuzha, will be upgraded to a museum soon. Local MLA M S Arun Kumar will submit a detailed project report before the state govt next week. The centre was inaugurated in 2018. Around 50,000kg of honey was procured from bee farmers and marketed under the name 'Amruth Honey'. This is also the first centre in the state where honey is made and sold after refining. The centre is on a three-acre plot and functions under the State Horticulture Products Corporation (Horticorp). Apart from rearing bees for honey, honey is also procured from bee farmers and treated scientifically before selling. Bee farmers are also given training. The centre has around 200 beehives and around two tonnes of honey is made yearly from these hives. The honey brought by the farmers is procured directly at rates fixed by the govt. Speaking to TOI, Kumar said the centre being turned into a museum will attract tourists as well. "Already, the centre is visited by bee lovers from across the country for studies and research about bees and different types of honey. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo We are also planning to build a hostel for such people," he said. The work in connection with implementing a quality testing lab for honey will also begin in two months, Kumar said.

People desperate to oust Nitish Kumar govt: Prashant

Patna, June 28 (UNI) Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor today said people of Bihar are desperate to oust Nitish Kumar government from power in next state assembly elections slated for October-November this year. Addressing a rally during his "Badlao Yatra" in Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said that people were fed up with the present dispensation in the state due to rising unemployment, poor law and order. In the name of giving jobs to youths, Kumar was distributing appointment letters among them when election was round the corner, he claimed and said that by his action in last few months of his tenure, Chief Minister Kumar was trying to create an impression of " all is well ". "In last 35 years, Bihar remained at bottom of all development parameters due to failures of Lalu and Nitish regime in the state," Jan Suraaj leader recalled and said that it was time for people to exercise their franchise to oust Nitish Kumar government from power in next state assembly elections due to be held in October-November this year. Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public appeal during his frequent visits to Bihar in election year, people should not vote for Chief Minister Kumar, he suggested. Kishor said that huge support from people of Bihar in Lok Sabha elections since 2014, enabled Modi to become PM in last 11 years. Despite getting such a vital support from Bihar, Modi was setting up industries in Gujarat, he alleged. The Jan Suraaj leader said that youths of Bihar had no option but to migrate to other states in search of their livelihood and they were doing petty jobs there, even as labourers. Had people of Bihar extended their support to Modi for creating a situation for their children to work as labourers in other states, he asked. Kishor also came down heavily on RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav for distributing pens among youths. There was jungle raj during RJD regime and criminals were striking at their will during that period, he recalled and added that RJD was trying to refurbish its image but the party would not succeed.
