Advertisement The library building, valued at over RM6 million, began construction in September 2021 and was originally scheduled for full completion by September 2023. However, the project faced delays, including during the Covid-19 pandemic, which restricted activity across many sectors. Other contributing factors to the delay included a change in the construction site location and the shifting political landscape in Sabah following the 2018 state government transition. Approval for the development of the library was granted earlier during the State administration led by then Chief Minister Tun Musa Aman, who now serves as the Head of State. Residents in Kunak are hopeful that the development projects previously planned and approved will continue for the benefit of the wider community. Currently, the existing Kunak Library branch operates from a commercial building in the town centre. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
