'A 61-year-old male did succumb to his injuries,' Matthew Kunz, police chief for Jackson Township, said in a statement. The victims range in age from seven to 61, Kunz added. About half of the people injured by lightning at the Black Knight Bowbenders archery club in Jackson Township were juveniles that belonged to the Jackson Scouts Troop 204, a Scouting America-affiliated organization, police told CNN. The 13 injured suffered from from burns to 'non-specific complaints of not feeling well,' said Kunz. They were all transported to area hospitals, Police Public Safety Director Joseph Candido told CNN, adding that none of the injuries were life threatening. Just after 7 p.m., first responders received a call about a lightning strike at the archery club, Kunz told CNN. Gene Grodzki, a member of the archery club, told CNN affiliate News 12 New Jersey he performed CPR on the victim who died. 'Everything was great, and then the finger of God just came down and took a life,' Grodzki said. 'I pray that everybody else that's now in the hospital are okay.' The 61-year-old killed was not affiliated with Scouting America, formerly known as Boy Scouts of America, Scott Armstrong, director of national media relations, said in a statement. 'Give the award to me first': Marcus Chin says suspense in Star Awards' top 10 popularity awards is bad for his weak heart, Entertainment News

Local DJ-host Marcus Chin made a special request to the Star Awards team after bagging his fifth Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes Award last evening (July 6): Please take into consideration his weak heart. Speaking to local media including AsiaOne backstage after the ceremony, the 70-year-old shared: "I wasn't confident about winning this year, especially since our radio show didn't win [Best Radio Programme] also. "We had won for four consecutive years, but The Shuang, Kunz and Jia Trio won this year, so I was quite dejected already and thought this could perhaps be a sign that I wouldn't win Top 10." Marcus hosts Love 972's radio show The Breakfast Quartet with DJs Mark Lee, Dennis Chew and Chen Biyu on weekdays. The team won Best Radio Programme for four consecutive years from 2021 to 2024. The Shuang, Kunz and Jia Trio is a radio show hosted by Yes 933 DJs Kenneth Chung, Hazelle Teo and Chen Qijia. Marcus expressed his appreciation for his family, friends and fans who voted for him. He added: "I still have five more times to win [before achieving the All-Time Favourite Artiste award]. I had a heart attack on Oct 7 last year. I hope if I still win next year, give the award to me first and not let me wait six, seven or eight in line, because I could really feel my heart rate increasing as I was waiting to be called." Marcus was the seventh artiste to be announced as a Top 10 recipient last evening. As he went onstage, he got a selfie with veteran Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat, 70, who presented the award. Romeo Tan receives final Top 10 trophy after 15 years in showbiz Besides Marcus, the other recipients for the category are Yes 933 DJ Jeff Goh, as well as actors Xu Bin, Benjamin Tan, Zong Zijie, Desmond Tan, Richie Koh, Guo Liang, Jeremy Chan and Romeo Tan, with the latter clinching his 10th award after 15 years in showbiz. This means he will receive the All-Time Favourite Artiste award in the next Star Awards ceremony. Romeo, 40, who had to cut his speech short during the show, said backstage: "I definitely want to thank my family, relatives and friends, thank you for voting for me every year. I also want to thank myself. I started as an audience member, became a small-time actor and later a full-time actor. "To be able to stand on stage now and receive my 10th Top 10 award to become an All-Time Favourite Artiste, it's quite an unbelievable journey for me. I am really happy that I still have a group of people who support me and thank you to the audience for liking my shows." View this post on Instagram A post shared by R O M E O T A N (@romeotan) Guo Liang felt 'rollercoaster' of emotions throughout the evening Veteran host Guo Liang, who received a hug from Yun Fat as he received his ninth Top 10 trophy, shared that his "emotions were like a rollercoaster" throughout the show. The 54-year-old, who debuted in local showbiz in 1994, said: "I was anxious at first, as many of my friends and family have supported me and I hoped to win. While hosting the show, I was awestruck by Yun Fat... "Then disappointment hit me when I saw those who had already received the All-Time Favourite Artiste award. Most artistes from my batch had already reached that status and I believed that [I haven't] because I didn't do well enough. "When I finally received the Top 10 award tonight, it was nothing but pure joy and elation. Such an experience is not great... For my last win, please help me out everyone." A very special set of Tiffany Bird on a Rock brooches is coming

The American jeweller Tiffany & Co. has a remarkable history with gemstones. It's got a heritage of top of the line diamonds, underscored by its house treasure, the 128.54-carat yellow Tiffany diamond. And besides diamonds and the big three—sapphires, emeralds and rubies—the maison was actually a pioneering promoter of several 'modern' gemstones. As in, gemstones that were discovered and named later, and which the jeweller helped to popularise by featuring it in its collections. One of these, which Tiffany dubs its 'legacy' gemstones, is kunzite. It's named after George Frederick Kunz, the American gemologist who is considered one of the greatest in his field. Aged just 23, he joined Tiffany & Co. as its first ever chief gemologist, and stayed with the firm until his death in 1932. In that time, Kunz worked on cutting the Tiffany yellow diamond, and proposed the name of the gemstone morganite to honour friend, customer and known gemstone connoisseur J.P. Morgan. The 7,500 carat kunzite rough acquired by Tiffany & Co., destined for a set of 10 exclusive high jewellery Bird on a Rock brooches. Courtesy of Tiffany & Co. But the gemstone that George Kunz is most remembered for is kunzite, a new mineral that he identified and which was named after him. Kunzite has a unique appearance, with the best examples having vivid colour in shades of lilac to violet. The gemstone can occur in large specimens with big stones, and tend to be quite eye-clean so that its intense colour can really shine. The point of this gemstone's importance to Tiffany & Co. was underscored recently when the house announced its acquisition of an incredible 7,500 carat uncut kunzite that was unearthed over 25 years ago in Mozambique. 'This crystal's exceptional size, clarity and colour are rare testaments to Mother Nature's artistry,' said Victoria Wirth Reynolds, Tiffany & Co.'s chief gemologist and vice president of high jewellery diamond and gemstone acquisition. 'This kunzite of over 7,500 carats,' she added in a press statement, 'marks a significant moment in Tiffany's legacy of exceptional gemstones.' As for what the jeweller intends to do with this remarkable stone, the answer lies in one of its hero designs that also happens to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year: the Bird on a Rock by Jean Schlumberger. Tiffany's Bird on a Rock design is a celebrity favourite on the red carpet. Worn here by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as a necklace. Getty Pinned to Taylor Russell's dress at the Venice Film Festival. Getty And especially on tuxedoes, in line with the trend for brooches. Michael B. Jordan wore a pair of Birds on a Rock at the Oscars. Getty Schlumberger's iconic design of a cockatiel perching on a gemstone has enjoyed a renaissance of late with Tiffany, which has made it a centrepiece of its branding and imagery. It's a genius piece of creativity that expresses all at once the strengths of Tiffany. High jewellery craftsmanship to create a highly detailed diamond-set cockatoo, as well as the simplicity of perching it atop exceptional gemstones so they get, almost nonchalantly, the spotlight. To commemorate 60 years since the first Bird on a Rock brooch was introduced, Tiffany & Co. intends to create 10 bespoke high jewellery brooches set with kunzites cut from this extraordinary rough. Each faceted and polished gemstone will, of course, vary in cut and carat weight so no two are the same. And because these are being crafted in such a limited number, top clients have the opportunity of working with Reynolds on the specifications of the design of their Birds on a Rock. Now there's something to set gem fiends and collectors aflutter.
