Sheffield: Community funding secured for new city playground
A new playground and sports facility is to be built at a park in Sheffield after community funding was project in Longley Park will replace the old playground and sports provision next to the Crowder Road car park.A £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation and £75,000 from Veolia Environmental Trust will pay for the facilities, alongside additional funding from the Community Infrastructure money will be used to create a playground aimed at teenagers, along with a combined basketball and netball court. Heeley Gym reopens after £110,000 upgrade
A gym has reopened after undergoing a £110,000 Gym and Pool, in Sheffield, has been kitted out with new weights and cardio equipment, including treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines and exercise facility, which is run by Everyone Active in partnership with Sheffield City Council, was officially reopened in 10 Crossland, chair of the communities, parks and leisure committee, said: "We are committed to ensuring that everyone in Sheffield has access to facilities that support them in being more active, more often." Rebuilt Sheffield leisure centres to include spas
Two sports and leisure centres which are set to be rebuilt in Sheffield will include facilities like spas and "health suites", the council has City Council will begin building the new Springs Leisure Centre and Concord Sports Centre in late 2026 under the city's sport and leisure facilities, in the Gleadless and Shiregreen areas of the city, will include "state of the art" gyms, wellbeing spas, improved sports halls and studio spaces, and soft play areas, the council Kurtis Crossland said the plan was a "major step forward" in making Sheffield a healthier and more active city.
