'Thatd be fun': Kyle MacLachlan on potential reprise of his character in Desperate Housewives reboot

Washington DC [US], July 7 (ANI): Actor Kyle MacLachlan expressed his interest in reprising his role of Orson Hodge from the American comedy series 'Desperate Housewives', reported People. The actor, 66, spoke exclusively to People about possibly reprising his Desperate Housewives role as Orson Hodge. A reimagined version of the hit series -- which ran on ABC from 2004 to 2012 -- is currently in the works, as per the outlet. "That'd be fun. I mean, Wisteria Lane still exists on the Universal back lot. It's part of the tour!" said Kyle. The actor clarified that he would consider the role as if it were a brand-new opportunity. "If for Desperate Housewives, if that were to come back, and if they would even want me to come back -- I'd have to look at the role and kind of get a sense of what they're thinking about for the character," he explained as quoted by People. He adds, "So I would approach it like if it were something completely new and weigh how I feel about the role, and the character, and the process and everything, you know? I would treat it like it were, you know, something else [new] that had come to me and make my judgment on that," as quoted by People. 'The Sex and the City' actor shared that he went through a similar process when deciding to reprise his role as Special Agent Dale Cooper in the cult-favorite 'Twin Peaks', which initially ran from 1990 to 1991 and aired a third season in 2017. "The thing about returning to Twin Peaks was that [creator] David [Lynch] decided to not really pick it up from where we left off and to create a completely different journey for the character," he says, adding, "And I got to do a couple [of] different characters in the reboot," as quoted by People. 'Desperate Housewives' aired for eight seasons on ABC from October 3, 2004, until May 13, 2012, for a total of 180 episodes. The series starred Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria in the lead roles. (ANI)

Kyle MacLachlan would consider 'fun' Desperate Housewives return

Kyle MacLachlan is open to a Desperate Housewives return. The 66-year-old actor portrayed the character of Orson Hodge in the ABC series between 2006 and 2012 and revealed that he would consider taking a role in the revival of the hit show that is in development. Kyle told People: "That'd be fun. I mean, Wisteria Lane still exists on the Universal back lot. It's part of the tour!" The Blue Velvet star explained that he would consider a potential role as a brand new opportunity in his career. He said: "If for Desperate Housewives, if that were to come back - and if they would even want me to come back - I'd have to look at the role and kind of get a sense of what they're thinking about for the character. "So I would approach it like if it were something completely new and weigh how I feel about the role, and the character, and the process of everything, you know? I would treat it like it were, you know something else (new) that had come to me and make my judgement on that." Kyle explained that he was faced with a similar choice when he decided to return as Special Agent Dale Cooper in the late David Lynch's cult series Twin Peaks - which aired for two seasons in the early 1990s before being revived in 2017. He said: "The thing about returning to Twin Peaks was that David decided not to really pick it up from where we left off and to create a completely different journey for the character. "And I got to do a couple (of) different characters in the reboot." Although Kyle is enthusiastic about the prospect, Eva Longoria is unsure if a Desperate Housewives reboot would be successful. The 50-year-old star found fame as Gabrielle 'Gaby' Solis on the show but isn't sure what bosses could do with her alter ego in terms of storylines if she did return. Eva told Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in April: "I can't sleep with any more people on that street. I have slept with every person on the street, as did Nicolette Sheridan (who played Edie Britt)." The For Greater Glory actress explained that creator Marc Cherry would require "the most convincing" to join the reboot as he felt the programme had run its course when it ended in 2012. Longoria said: "He feels like we've exhausted the characters."

Kykle MacLachlan wants Desperate Housewives return

Kyle MacLachlan wants to reprise his role as suspicious husband Orson Hodge in a revival of Desperate Housewives. The Twin Peaks star, who starred in a third series to that classic 1990s show in 2017, has said he is open to appearing in a reboot of creator Marc Cherry's comedy-drama, which ran for eight seasons on ABC from 2004 to 2012. "That'd be fun," MacLachlan told People. "I mean, Wisteria Lane still exists on the Universal back lot. It's part of the tour!" MacLachlan debuted as Bree's (Marcia Cross) love interest and eventual second husband Orson toward the end of Season 2 in 2006, becoming a key character in Season 3 as it delved into the mystery of his first wife's disappearance. An offshoot Desperate Housewives revival series, titled Wisteria Lane, is reportedly in development at Disney, with Kerry Washington involved. MacLahlan said he'd love to appear in the show if asked. "If for Desperate Housewives, if that were to come back - and if they would even want me to come back - I'd have to look at the role and kind of get a sense of what they're thinking about for the character," he added "So I would approach it like if it were something completely new and weigh how I feel about the role, and the character, and the process and everything, you know? I would treat it like it were, you know, something else that had come to me and make my judgment on that."
