What is Kylian Mbappé's status for Real Madrid vs Juventus? An update on the wellbeing of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has this weekend come to the fore online. And the news will no doubt be met with widespread excitement on the part of those of a Blancos persuasion… Advertisement Frontman Mbappé has of course not played a minute of Real Madrid's campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup to date. This comes after the Frenchman was struck down by a bout of illness. As much proved serious enough to see Mbappé admitted to a hospital in the USA, confirming the extent of his fever. The 26-year-old is understood to have lost between four and five kilos in weight over the last couple of weeks. Safe to say, then, that all associated with Real Madrid will no doubt be delighted to hear of the latest word stemming from the club's camp in the USA. At Dior Jonathan Anderson Proved Why He's The Man For The Job
Dior, Jonathan Anderson, Summer 2026 New Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson is not only a fashion designer, he's a genius marketeer who can take an abstract concept and distill it down into simple ideas that instantly communicate the essence of a hundred social whispering campaigns before you can say artificial intelligence. Let's take holy grail, 'contemporary heritage or, 'reconstructed formality' and 'a play on history and affluence, decoding the language of the House in order to recode it' as it was described in the show notes. But while you've got couture silhouettes reimagined as cargo shorts and, on the flip side, the Dior Bar Jacket given the tuxedo treatment, it was his treatment of the tie that summed everything up. Dior, Jonathan Anderson, Summer 2026 The tie is the foundation of Jonathan Anderson's Dior It started even in the run-up to the Paris Fashion Week show with both said tie and the new more relaxed gesture of knotting it being teased via video by French soccer champion and house ambassador Kylian Mbappé. On the runway itself, it segued from turtleneck-collar-hybrid (evoking that archetypal creative industry titan look favored by Steve Jobs to Anderson's new boss Bernard Arnault), through trompe l'oeil tone-on-tone atop-popped collar to inside out so the interior Dior logo label became a feature in its own right. Jonathan Anderson has claimed a basic menswear staple and made it so emblematic of his new Dior that whenever it features within the output of any other brand from luxury to high street (for the next season at least and maybe longer), it will be measured against 'the original' as a Dior dupe, homage or a reference. Dior, Jonathan Anderson, Summer 2026 Jonathan Anderson's Dior was 'surreal-lite' While Dior is not a house where Loewe level surrealism would necessarily sit comfortably, Anderson still found ways to inject some 'surreal-lite' touches (surrealism for the age of Ozempic) via literal interpretations of Maria Grazia Chiuri's successful Dior Book Totes where the bags were decked out in the covers of titles like Françoise Sagan's Bonjour Tristesse and Baudelaire's Les Fleurs Du Mal. Bonjour Tristress Dior Book Tote on the runway. Elsewhere bags came dressed in multiple tassels resembling skeins of wool echoing the Dior collection's peppy collegiate style knits and the Dior house's roots in craftsmanship. Tassels ressembling skeins of wool bedecked bags on the Dior runway. World building at Dior Ceramic plates were sent out with the show invitations. However, these weren't just a nice touch playing to Anderson's love of ceramics evinced both by his personal collection (Lucie Rie, Lynda Benglis, Hans Coper and John War) and ready-to-wear collaborations and capsules throughout his decade odd tenure at Loewe. It was, arguably, a considered step towards building out awareness of DiorMaison, Dior's homeware collection, and elevating the desirability of the category among its 'fashion' audience. Lest there be any doubt, refer to Instagram for further details where said plate (a reissue of an archival object form 1975) appeared as part of an aspirational breakfast set-up in a joint Dior / DiorMaison post. Launched in 2016, and given it's own Instagram handle in 2020, homeware is evidently a space that has been identified as a growth opportunity for Dior. Dior, Jonathan Anderson, Summer 2026

Lionel Messi believes PSG ‘protected' Kylian Mbappé
The reasons for Lionel Messi's (38) 'bitterness' towards his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, are multiple. Chief among them is a sense that his teammate at the time, Kylian Mbappé (26), was 'protected' by the club, whilst he was the subject of fierce criticism from the PSG fan base, especially towards the end of his time. Messi left PSG in the summer of 2023 upon the expiry of his two-year deal. There had been rumours throughout his final season that his contract would be renewed, however, the final nail in the coffin proved to be his unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia in May 2023. The World Champion was sanctioned and, despite an apology and a re-integration into the first-team set-up, the relationship had turned sour. Advertisement Since, Messi has criticised PSG on several occasions, revealing his unhappiness during his stint at the club. Someone close to the player at the time has now told L'Équipe of the various gripes that contributed to what Messi has since described as a 'difficult' moment in his career. 'He didn't have one good moment in Paris. He couldn't go out. He found himself in the middle of the Neymar-Mbappé rivalry. He even felt that the club protected the Frenchman and didn't even honour his World Cup title. In Barcelona, he was a God. He was used to taking his kids to school, the sun… it was a lot of things combined,' they said. Messi, towards the end of his time at PSG, was booed by the Parc des Princes crowd. The Inter Miami forward will face his former club in the FIFA Club World Cup this weekend. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Madrid coach Alonso hoping Mbappé is 'back soon' at Club World Cup after illness
MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso still can't say whether Kylian Mbappé will be available to play in the next round of the Club World Cup after missing all three group games. Mbappé was hospitalized last week with acute gastroenteritis and has not played a minute of the tournament so far. Despite being back in training, he was not even named as a substitute for Thursday's 3-0 win against RB Salzburg. 'I don't want to be optimistic and get ahead of myself, but we need him because he's a top player, one of the best in the world. We hope he's back soon,' Alonso said when asked about Mbappé's availability for the round of 16 game against Juventus on Tuesday. Mbappé is one of the biggest stars at the expanded Club World Cup being staged in the United States and his absence has been a blow to a tournament FIFA president Gianni Infantino wants to become one of the biggest events in the sport. Infantino managed to get Lionel Messi into the tournament when Inter Miami was granted entry despite not winning the MLS Cup and encouraged teams to try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo during a specially created transfer window before the first game kicked off this month. Mbappé, along with Messi and Erling Haaland, is one of the top attractions, but his headlines have been limited to off-field issues. As well as his illness, he also made the news this week when it emerged he had filed a moral harassment case against former club Paris Saint-Germain. He unhappy with the way he was treated by this year's Champions League winner when he was sidelined after his decision not to extend his contract with the club in 2023. Mbappé is also at odds with PSG, arguing he is owed 55 million euros ($61 million) in unpaid wages. None of this is helping Madrid's bid to become the first team to lift the new Club World Cup and the golden trophy crafted by Tiffany & Co. The 26-year-old Mbappe was Madrid's top scorer last season, with 43 goals in 56 appearances. He had been following specific medical treatment to recover from gastroenteritis, Madrid said, but has missed two games since being discharged from hospital. 'We need him and we want him back as soon as possible and in the best possible condition,' Alonso said. ___ James Robson is at ___ AP soccer:
