Arizona Cardinals bring in quarterback, receiver, long snappers for tryouts before camp

The Cardinals were busy looking at a couple of positions before the start of training camp. The Arizona Cardinals will report for training camp on Tuesday, July 22. Ahead of the opening of camp, they brought ins several players for tryouts. After bringing in five defensive linemen on Friday and signing Kyon Barrs over the weekend, the NFL transaction report showed that the Cardinals hosted eight players — long snappers, receivers and a quarterback. These are the guys they brought in. Arizona Cardinals tryout players ahead of training camp Peter Bowden: He played collegiately for Wisconsin and was a rookie free agent in 2024 who signed initially with the Green Bay Packers and also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has not played in an NFL game. Ryan Langan: He played collegiately for Georgia Southern but has not played in the NFL. He played in the UFL most recently for the Birmingham Stallions. Marco Ortiz: He played for Nebraska through 2023 but has not signed with an NFL team. Nate McCollum: He is a 5-11 rookie free agent who played collegiately for Georgia Tech and North Carolina. In 2024 for the Tar Heels, he had 24 receptions for 274 yards and averaged 26.4 yards on 17 kick returns. Ja'seem Reed: Reed had signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent out of the University of San Diego, where he caught 77 passes for 1,052 yards with 12 touchdowns in 2024. He was waived with an injury and received an injury settlement. He is 6-2, 195 pounds. Braylon Sanders: He is a 6-1, 190-pound receiver who has been bouncing around since 2022, when he entered the league as a rookie free agent out of Ole Miss with the Miami Dolphins. He spent the last three seasons mostly on their practice squad but played in three games in 2022 and caught two passes for 17 yards. Winston Wright: He is 5-9 and 180 pounds. He is a rookie free agent out of East Carolina. He also played collegiately for Weste Virginia and Florida State. He had 187 receptions for 1,930 yards and 15 touchdowns in his college career and averaged 25.3 yards per kick return with three returns for touchdowns. Carter Bradley: He was a rookie free agent in 2024 who spent last season on the Raiders' practice squad and was recently cut by them. He played four years for Toledo and two for South Alabama in college. What do the tryouts mean? Generally speaking, tryouts are for scouting for injury scenarios, but these could be because there are injuries at positions. The long snappers make you wonder if Aaron Brewer is healthy, or if they are just doing homework because he is aging. The receivers are also interesting, especially with the two who were good kick returners in college. We will see if they announce any signings in the next couple of days. Arizona Cardinals sign former UFL DL Kyon Barrs ahead of training camp

Barrs was one of five defensive linemen who tried out for the Cardinals on Friday. The Arizona Cardinals made a move to add a defensive lineman to the roster before players report to training camp on Tuesday. Per the NFL transaction report on Saturday, they signed defensive lineman Kyon Barrs. Barrs had a tryout on Friday. Per Cards Wire's Howard Balzer, he was one of five defensive linemen to try out. Barrs was a rookie free agent last year, who played his final college season for USC after four years with Arizona. He had a rookie camp tryout with the Tennessee Titans but was not signed. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks, was cut before the season, signed with the practice squad and was released Sept. 3. During the 2025 UFL season, he played all 10 games and had 24 total tackles and a sack. He is 6-foot-2 and 290 pounds. The move, not yet announced by the Cardinals, does not need a corresponding move, as they had a vacancy left unfilled after cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting was placed on the non-football injury reserve.
