J&K Governor Hands Job Orders To Terrorism Victims In Baramulla
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said on Sunday that although the Constitution of the country guarantees freedom of expression, it does not mean those glorifying terrorism through speeches and statements can go scot-free. Addressing a gathering at Baramulla town where he handed over government job orders to victims of terrorism, L-G Sinha said, "Although the Constitution of the country guarantees freedom of expression, it does not mean that those glorifying terrorism through their speeches and statements can go scot free. Handed over appointment letters to NoKs of terror victims in Baramulla. Sharing my speech. — Office of LG J&K (@OfficeOfLGJandK) July 13, 2025 "If somebody tries to glorify terrorism for political prospects, he/she will have to pay for it. Let me tell those people that enough is enough. Kashmir has seen too much bloodshed, and now is the time to wipe tears from the eyes of those whose pain was not even heard under the threat of terrorism." "After the April 22 cowardly attack in Pahalgam, the spontaneous widespread condemnation of that heinous act by Kashmiris has left no doubt in my mind that the people have given up supporting terrorism and they are looking forward to progress, education, peace and a better tomorrow," he said. Justice at last! Handed over appointment letters to NoKs of terror victims. These families, forsaken and forgotten, suffered silently for decades. Stories of their loved ones, brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists are being brought to forefront. — Office of LG J&K (@OfficeOfLGJandK) July 13, 2025 He said as many as 193 terror victim grievances have come to light in recent days, many linked to the 1990s. He cited Justice Ganjoo's assassination and the Wandhama Ganderbal massacre. "In 61 cases, no FIR filed, land and compensation denied," he revealed. He later posted on X, "The Truth about these families was deliberately suppressed. No one came to wipe their tears. Everyone knew Pakistan-backed terrorists were involved in brutal killings, but no one provided justice to thousands of elderly parents, wives, brothers or sisters. I'm committed to ensuring that these families receive the justice, jobs, recognition and support they deserve after years of suffering. It is a historic step to finally recognise and honour the thousands of innocent civilians in J&K." "The administration will now reach the doorsteps of all the families who have been waiting for justice for decades, and jobs, arrangements for their rehabilitation and livelihood will be ensured. "Helplines have been set up in districts to register grievances of terror victims. We are receiving hundreds of complaints from the 90s also. In many cases, FIRs were not registered, lands were encroached and properties demolished. I assure the people that the culprits will not be spared. This is not just an administrative initiative; it is a moral responsibility," he told the families of victims. The office of the L-G said on X, "Justice at last! Handed over appointment letters to the NoKs of terror victims. These families, forsaken and forgotten, suffered silently for decades. Stories of their loved ones, brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists, are being brought to the forefront." Emotional scenes showing mothers giving the blessing kiss on L-G's forehead and daughters kneeling with respect and surcharged emotions marked the occasion as Manoj Sinha held their hand with paternal affection. Breaking protocol to respond to the sentiments of the victims of terrorism, whose voices were not even allowed to he raised or heard by the terrorists, L-G Sinha joined the crowd of the victims, bowed before mothers and in fatherly affection patted the heads of the daughters of terror victims. At the end of his address, the L-G said that those alive among the families of the terror victims will be given government jobs, while those killed by terrorists will get justice. He read out a couplet at the end of his speech in which he said, "There are some who will try to instil fear in your mind/You are alive this moment and this moment is alive because of you/ Bad times will pass/ You live your life steadfast/ Whatever happens will be seen."

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to discuss issues concerning those terror victim families whose members were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists, and are still waiting for justice. He directed the officials to reopen cases which were deliberately buried and file FIRs. Officials said the L-G chaired the meeting to discuss issues concerning terror victim families and directed officials to reopen cases buried deliberately. The L-G also said culprits roaming free for many decades will be brought to justice. He directed deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police to reopen cases which were deliberately buried and file FIRs. The L-G has also directed the officials to ensure jobs are provided to family members of the victims with priority. The DCs and SSPs were also directed to free terror victim families' property and land grabbed by terrorists or their sympathisers. "I've directed the officers to Identify those elements from terror ecosystem who were involved in killing of Common Kashmiris and currently working in Govt Depts', read a post on X by the office of the LG. The survivors of the terror victims told horrifying stories of suffering borne by them due to the terror ecosystem that buried their pain and tragedy in silence since 1990. L-G Sinha assured these families that their time for the much-awaited justice has come, and they should fearlessly come forward to expose those responsible for their sufferings, as the perpetrators were now living as respectable citizens due to the failure of the long arm of justice to reach them.

Time has finally come for victims of terror ecosystem to get justice: J&K L-G
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha said on Sunday that time has finally come when the families of victims of terrorists and terror ecosystem in the union territory will get the much-awaited justice. Addressing a large number of family members of terror victims in Anantnag town on Sunday, the L-G said: "Jammu and Kashmir administration especially the security forces have created a peaceful atmosphere so that the victims of terror ecosystem can share their pain and get the much awaited justice. I am here to tell you today that finally your wait for justice has ended. To begin with, all those victims of terrorism who did not get compassionate appointment in government service must submit their applications to concerned district magistrates within the next few days. "If some victim family has not received compassionate appointment so far, such a family would get compassionate appointment for a member within the next 30 days. If any youth of such a family wants to start a business of his/her own, he/she will get financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana without any collateral. The administration will do their hand holding." L-G Sinha also said: "If some of the victim families feel that the killer of their father or brother is still at large and employed in government job, IGP (Kashmir) is here today. Such a family member should give application to the IGP, the involved person would he booked and dismissed from government service if he is a government employee. If terrorists or their sympathisers have occupied your house or property, please come forward and the administration will help you claim your right on such properties so that these are restored to you. 'I appeal to you to come forward and submit your grievance against terrorists or their sympathisers. I am also instructing the IGP that people of different districts should be able to file such grievances before the concerned district magistrate and the SSP. The country that has made terrorism its state policy is unable to provide two square meals to its citizens while India is progressing by leaps and bounds." The L-G further said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, deserving people in every part of the country including Jammu and Kashmir are getting food and medical care free of cost. "Kashmir has been connected through rail link, new roads and highways have been made, places without electricity have got electricity and based on merit and without favour, deserving youth have got government jobs, others have got self-employment. 'Fruits of development have reached poor families and I have been witness to such families whose destiny has been changed under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Our neighbouring country is supporting terrorism while its citizens are starving. Pakistan is rated as the biggest beggar country today while our country is rated as the 4th biggest economy. Our youth are excelling in academics and different professions while Pakistan is sending its youth to terror training camps. 'After April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, under Operation Sindoor, our armed forces went deep into Pakistan and destroyed 9 terrorist infrastructures. When things escalated, we destroyed 11 army/defence bases of Pakistan. Pakistan stands warned that any future act of terrorism will be treated as an act of war by India. It is time that you (families of terror victims) gather courage and come forward to expose those who have now changed faces and are living as 'respectable citizens in J&K'," the Jammu and Kashmir L-G said. Speaking further, he said: "We have heard and felt the pain of those families whose dear ones were killed since 1990 at the behest of those against whom even routine FIRs in many cases were not registered. Large processions would be carried out during the funerals of terrorists and the terror ecosystem had established and entrenched itself well in Kashmir. "Those killed by terrorists would get no mourners and even burial ground became difficult for victims of terrorists to find. This also we heard from the families we met here today. A false narrative was created which said the terrorists are victims while police and the army are the enemies of the people. Under pressure from Pakistan and its sponsored terrorists, the cries of the victims were suppressed and those cries we have heard today here. 'We have heard some stories of human sufferings today. Others would have perhaps more painful stories to narrate those were suppressed through the then prevailing terror ecosystem. I am thankful to 'Save Youth, Save Future' organisation that organised today's function. This organisation has taken appreciable effort to trace the victims of terrorism from different parts of J&K so that the truth is told to the nation and also to the international community." Before the address of the Lt Governor in Anantnag town where he met the families of terror victims since 1990 at the local degree college, members of victim families narrated horrifying stories of their sufferings at the hands of terrorists and terror ecosystem in Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir L-G orders reopening of key tourist spots
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday ordered reopening of all key tourist spots across the union territory in a significant development aimed at reviving tourism and easing restrictions after Operation Sindoor. Speaking to reporters, the L-G announced that all tourist destinations closed after Operation Sindoor in J&K have been reopened. Several major tourist destinations had been closed in the aftermath of heightened security operations after Operation Sindoor. The list of reopened locations includes Betab Valley in Pahalgam, Kokernag, Achabal Park in Anantnag district, Badamwari (Srinagar), Nigeen Park (Srinagar), Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal, and several public parks in the Jammu region. These places were closed temporarily due to security concerns, but following thorough assessments by law enforcement and intelligence agencies, it was concluded that the situation has improved enough to safely allow public movement. L-G Manoj Sinha said on Saturday that restoring normal life while maintaining public safety is a top priority for the administration. 'I have ordered reopening of some of the tourist spots in Kashmir and Jammu Divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures. Betab valley and parks in Pahalgam Market, Verinag Garden, Kokernag Garden and Achabal Garden to be reopened from June 17. Other tourist destinations being reopened includes Badamwari Park, Duck Park, Taqdeer Park in Srinagar, Sarthal, Dhaggar in Kathua, Devi Pindi, Siyad Baba, Sula Park in Reasi, Guldanda and Jai valley in Doda and Pancheri in Udhampur. Reopening will be in phase-wise manner," L-G Sinha said. 'The decision reflects our confidence in the improved ground situation. We invite people to visit these locations and enjoy the natural beauty of our Union Territory," he added. Security has been strengthened around all reopened sites. Local police units, paramilitary forces, and civil administration will ensure the safety of tourists and locals alike. Monitoring systems have been activated and security personnel will remain deployed in key areas to maintain a secure environment. Authorities have advised visitors to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies. Public gatherings, events, and tourism activities will resume gradually depending on ongoing reviews of the situation. The reopening of these destinations marks a step forward in Jammu and Kashmir's journey toward normalcy and development. The administration has assured continued monitoring and quick response to any potential challenges that may arise. Tourism had literally come to a grinding halt in Kashmir after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 by Pakistan backed LeT terrorists, who killed 26 civilians including 25 tourists and a local Pony owner. Till Pahalgam terror attack happened, 140 flights of various airlines would land daily at Srinagar airport. The air traffic has been reduced to 50 flights a day at present.

NC's Surinder Choudhary accuses L-G Manoj Sinha of ‘running proxy govt'
The friction between the elected government of Jammu and Kashmir and the Raj Bhavan appears to have come out in the open. Taking on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in what appears to be the first direct confrontation since his government was elected last year, senior National Conference leader and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary accused him of 'running a proxy government' in Jammu and Kashmir. Without taking names, Choudhary said if someone thinks that he could 'crush the mandate of the people' he won't be allowed because 'the government is not scared and is ready to fight for the people'. This is the first direct attack on L-G Sinha by the National Conference government. While Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has so far been treading cautiously, Choudhary's tirade appears to have brought to the fore the friction between the elected government and the Raj Bhavan. While the transfer of officers has been a bone of contention between Raj Bhawan and the elected government, it is not clear what was the immediate trigger for Choudhary's tirade against L-G Sinha. 'He should understand that he is playing with the Constitution of India,' Choudhary said. Choudhary then accused the BJP of running a 'proxy government' through L-G Sinha and demanded the return of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The government, Choudhary said, would take to the streets if needed. '(If) someone thinks that he will be able to crush the mandate of the people chosen in democracy, he will not be able to do it. What harm will they do to us — those protected by God and the people, who have voted for us,' the Deputy Chief Minister said. 'Do not think that we will get scared… We are not ones to get scared. We are ones to fight,' Choudhary said. It had been hoped that the Lt Governor would accept the people's mandate, Choudhary said. 'But it seems that some things are not getting right and when such an action happens, be it a transfer or anything else, then don't celebrate it as some sort of bravery. He should think that he is crushing the democracy of India,' the NC leader said. He went on to say that the NC was silent 'because of their leader' Omar Abdullah.
